  1. Why would you take what a random guy at the mall said seriously? No, she can’t travel with a US passport because she’s not a USC.
  2. Not really, or at least not in my case. People filing around the same date as me have already had their interviews, and I am just here waiting.
  3. I think you’re missing the point. @Family is suggesting that you write on the envelope INSIST ON FILING just so that they understand that they sent you a 10 year green card by mistake. You don’t want this package to be rejected, so by writing INSIST ON FILING its like you’re telling them “hey, I know I already have a 10 year green card, but trust me, I know it was your mistake, so please accept this package” You’re tempting us!
  4. Most lawyers wouldn't be raking in the $$ if people were educated and self- advocated. The main motif that I have to do it is my students. I always tell my middle schoolers to advocate for themselves -well, now I need to do it myself. I am just tired of waiting on a case that should take only two hours to look through the evidence and decide. Tired tired tired.
  5. Yeah but if the processing times increased up to 48 months, I feel like that's the excuse they would have to say "we told you that we were going to take our time". However, you're giving me fuel to at least think about it. Summer would be a good time. @igoyougoduke aside from your thorough, wonderful post, do you have any solid advice or materials I should be reading?
  6. Yeah but in a way, I don't care about the 751. I'd sue them if the N400 was a year old -hopefully I don't have to do that. And while I like Hacking, I think I can WoM myself
  7. Nah, I am not going to sue them for a case that is only four months old!😝
  8. No news yet. I thought by now I would have had at least the interview scheduled.
  9. Contrary to other people’s experiences here, in my case filing the N400 has done nothing to speed up my 751 so far. I applied for 751 in Febr 2022. Assigned to LIN. I applied for N400 end of January this year, did my biometrics Feb 6th, and case has been actively being reviewed since. Columbus, OH field office. And no, the delay is not on my FO, as other cases with a different processing center or that came on a different visa are moving. Mine is just stuck. So no, it doesn’t always speed up the 751.
  10. Usually reopening your case works when USCIS made a mistake that led to the denial, which doesn't seem to be the case.
  11. There is no such thing as an “international” birth certificate. You were born in Germany, therefore, it is a German bc with certain features
  12. Hint: just because you think it’s “good for international”, it does not mean it is good for USCIS. They are rather specific as to the type and format of the document, so use the visa reciprocity table. This is exactly what they are looking for (as you can see it says nothing about three languages) Document Name: Geburtsurkunde Issuing Authority: Local registrar's office (Standesamt) where the birth occurred. NOTE: For former East Germany, this applies only to those civil status cases that occurred after October 2, 1990. For events occurring prior to this date, documents from this part of Germany are issued by the district office where the event occurred. Special Seal(s) / Color / Format: Local registrar’s office official seal, signed by the recording official/ white paper/ different formats depending on issuance date Issuing Authority Personnel Title: Standesbeamter (recording official) Registration Criteria: To be checked with issuing authority Procedure for Obtaining: The requested certificates are usually mailed out by the registrar's office with the fees being collected on delivery. The applicant may enclose a self-addressed and stamped return envelope and use German postage stamps or a collection-only check for payment. Certified Copies Available: Yes, “beglaubigte Abschrift aus dem Geburtsregister“ Alternate Documents: Auszug aus dem Geburtseintrag (extract from birth registration). This document is also issued by the German registration office (Standesamt) where the birth was registered. Specific to what or whom?
  13. It's really, really hard to give you an accurate answer without knowing your country of birth. But look at the Visa reciprocity table and see if the birth certificate you are sending is what THEY need based on that table. Translate it, have the translation notarized, and submit.
  14. Yeah… it’s not easy to see that a couple that has 24 joint bank statements with movement in the account, a joint mortgage, joint utility bills, joint previous leases, joint POAs, flight tickets, passport stamps, pictures, etc is indeed a bona fide relationship ship. c’me on…
  15. I am not presenting any “logic” for you to argue. What I’m saying is that people say that the 751 will be looked at after you file for the N400 as an absolute truth, and to me it’s been far from that .
  16. Yep, unfortunately that is true. My case is a good example of someone applying under the three year rule, 90 days before the third anniversary of my green card, yet absolutely nothing moved. The only thing I have is that I had to go in for a biometric appointment, and case is being actively reviewed since. Meanwhile, others that applied with the five year rule or as an IR-1 (no 751 involved) have been moving along left and right. Same city, same FO, and in one case, same SC for the 751. So if you are in my situation, the 751 did not shake loose at all. People here are quick to say that the N400 is quick, and that it will shake lose the 751... Well, in my case, it didn't
  17. This is a perfect example of why the immigrants should stay on top of their own immigration processes. Good luck
  18. Stop right there: don’t you think they’ll realize of your salary and position once they migrate here? What’s the plan for that?
  19. Missing the big picture here. She has a previous F1 visa (single use) that she plans on using to study English for three months while spending time with him. Your line of thinking is exactly what gets people in trouble… thinking that if others did it with no problem, one can also try… missing the context
  20. So what is she going to say when asked by CBP “what’s the purpose of your visit?”
