Bring a Lawyer to N400 Interview: Yes or No?
Rocio0010 replied to *FishF00D*'s topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
That’s not true. We’ve seen tons of divorce waivers being approved here without an interview. Of course the attorney will tell you that; they want people to hire them for something easy. Regardless, good luck tomorrow. Do report back- 36 replies

None. After biometrics, your case will be under “actively being reviewed “. Could be days, weeks, months. Totally contingent upon your local field office. If it’s an emergency international trip, and you don’t have the interview date yet, you should buy refundable tickets. Or pay the penalty for changing them if they give you the interview date after you buy them. Your call.

Yeah but my case is kind of unique. Yes, I never had an interview for my AOS, because my local field office had closed due to COVID. However, they did mail me a letter from the local FO requesting for the evidence that I was going to submit in my interview. So maybe in their system I count as an interviewee for AOS. Who knows.

We are not immigration attorneys here. This is a DIY site of people that share their experience. You might want to consider an F1 student visa. But you have strong ties to the US, which will hurt your chances. Think if you want to study here in the US, apply to colleges, and if they accept you, and you can afford it, apply for a student visa.

I - 751 January 2022 Filers

Update: my 751 was approved about 10 days ago, now awaiting for my N400 interview on August 30th! -
Ups… sorry, I just saw this! Yes, no interview for either AOS or ROC… The heaviest package was our ROC simply because we had more bank statements to show, and we sent 24 bank statements. So I’m not sure about how many pages, but I can confidently say that there was not much left of a 3 inch ACCO binder.

Yes, it was wrong (or at least not helpful) because the link was just to the K1 forum. Not even to the K1 visa guide, which is what OP was looking for. A single reference to your fiance as your "wife" in front of CBP can be very problematic. And CBP doesn't care about how you refer to your fiance. If you say "wife" you're done! -

Yes. I know he also converted to Islam, but he is not willing to share why (at least not on the show!) -

Great idea! Also we could do one with JH analysis! -

Yes, Julia. I think she's from Venezuela originally, and came to Argentina for better opportunities. Bless her heart! I do not agree with him in a lot of the things he says, but I still watch his show and take it for what it is: a show where people can get free immigration advice. And yes, outsourcing makes sense. But my question is how do the employees get paid with all the restrictions they have in place down here. -

No, what I mean is, if you have so many issues with the mods in VJ and the way VJ is handled, why don't you just go ahead and create a whole new website, outside of VJ, where you set up the rules and moderate however you want it. Genuine question, why do you stick around if you dislike it so much? -

I did hear part of the rant yesterday, but I couldn't quite hear the rest. I am visiting Argentina and my family, and they can be very loud! Lol I do not know how they set up here, nor do I know how the employees receive the payment! -

Have you considered making your own forum with your own rules, and moderating it? -

Completely unrelated to Andi B original post. I'm out before they close this thread. -

Again, context. This is a about a shooter that happened to be trans. In their comment, Dashinka says that "mentally unstable people tend to do bad things", to which TBone replies that "they" (referring to mentally unstable people) should be institutionalized, not trans people! Do we not agree that mentally unstable people can be a danger to themselves and others, and should be institutionalized, precisely for that reason? And yeah, I am very active on the K1 forum. @Boiler and @Redro can attest to that. -

True. I actually made a thread not too long ago asking people to share the craziest VJ threads and boy, I'm still eating popcorn! -

Yet VJ is a public forum. Off- topic means "not immigration related". Therefore, politics is allowed in there. Please, don't take me wrong, sometimes the intent comes across as rude in written messages. But my question is, is someone forcing you to read the off- topic threads? Why is it so hard to just ignore the threads you don't like in VJ? Again, it is the off- topic thread, and people have the right to post whatever they want to in there. It's called freedom of speech, and it is one of the principles in the US Constitution. How am I supposed to convey emphasis? You know, when people talk, they use tone and pitch to convey emphasis. I do it, you do it, your mom does it, the Presiden does, everyone does. I don't have that possibility when the message is written. How am I supposed to convey emphasis? Are we really getting upset and nitpicking on one word that is bolded for emphasis? Again, what happened to free speech? Also, in the snapshot you share someone calls people that have different opinions "boomers". Free speech, fine. But is it not disrespectful to label people like that? Or is it only disrespectful when someone else does it to you? -

Weird. I have been a very active user for four years now, and this is the first time I have ever seen your name. Link? I have never, ever seen hatred in here, let alone towards certain communities. And I have been here every day for the last four years. Can we not share different views on certain topics and have respectful debates? -
Case returned back to USCIS
Rocio0010 replied to Doc B's topic in Effects of Major Family Changes on Immigration Benefits
First red flag. Second red flag It's not if you CAN. You HAVE TO. Absolutely. Yet, there are laws. More specifically, there are immigration laws that you have to follow if you want to live in the US through your marriage. Following your same line of thought, the government decides what works for their country, and in this case the US has decided that there are certain red flags that can come up in marriages when it comes to immigration. Your case has at least two. -

Again, context is KEY. Andi B started this thread to talk about negative attitudes in replies to people posting immigration- related questions, queries, etc. However, every single link you posted in your comment pertains to the off- topic forum. There is a reason why it is called that way. Links are forbidden because, as someone else explained in this very same thread, VJ is free to use, but not free to operate. Therefore, said links related to immigration might contain competitor advertisement. In all honesty, I am baffled that adults are so thin- skinned. Do I agree with every single thing that TBone posts? Probably not. Am I going to change his mind? Probably not. Is he going to change mine? Probably not. Do I know 100% the tone he is trying to convey? Probably not. Am I going to tell him not to post said stuff in the off- topic thread? Certainly not. Am I going to waste my time and energy arguing with him (or anyone else that posts things I don't agree with)? Maybe, depending on the day, my mood, etc. But we have to understand that people HAVE THE ABSOLUTE RIGHT to free thinking. Democracy at its core. Democracy, and respect towards people that have different opinions. I am a teacher too, and I am surprised that other teachers don't understand this.
