@pushbrk, I am in a similar situation as the OP. I make 132K a year at my current job in the US, the taxable income shown on my 2023 tax return was 13K because I worked half the year in Japan and half the year in the US and the foreign earned income tax credit drove the AGI down (currently working in the US, in reality I made 60K from working 4 months). I received the same warning message as the poster. Would showing my paystubs and YTD salary be sufficient for my wife's consular interview? Thank you.

@RekYan if your spouse already had the interview, I would like to know how it went, if you don't mind sharing.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I did look back at the I-864 I filled out, and 132K is what I wrote for the line item for my current income. 🤔

No interview to date. I’m updating timeline today. What NVC is doing is totally incomprehensible. Let me get the timeline updated and I’ll comeback and share the messages with you. My best guess is that the folks reviewing the application just have a checklist and it tells them to look at a certain income line. Meets/or doesn’t meet and move on.

Need the exact wording of what you read that makes you think they told you to get a joint sponsor.  I'm going to predict it say "you may" with regard to the joint sponsor, and "Consular Officer will make the decision".  If so, and your income is as you say it is, then ignore the message.  I expect it's only your taxable income that's not enough and that your retirement income is tax free.  You do not qualify based on a tax return.  You qualify based on your current income, which should be documented with a declaration letter from your retirement source and a pay stub from your current employer.  Did you state and document 193k of current income?  (Tax returns are about the past.)

Here's the wording, the I-864 showed plenty of income. Also I had not uploaded any current income, I've done that now along with the 2023 Tax Transcript that was just put out. One of my son's has been Documentary Qualified even with the email below. Thanks for the help, truly appreciate it.

The income reported as stated on form I-864, I-864A is insufficient to overcome the public charge grounds of inadmissibility for visa issuance. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos and https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. A consular officer will decide if you meet these requirements at the time of the interview. Note: You, as the sponsor, and any other sponsors household members and joint sponsors, must provide updated or additional evidence for the applicant to present at the time of their interview such as: * Other income * Assets * Proof of current employment Note: You submitted documentation to the National Visa Center through the Consular Electronic Application Center CEAC. You can continue to upload documents to CEAC up until the date of your visa interview.

  3. Employed and draw retirement. I submitted both 1099 and W2 for last yrs compensation 193k.

The transcript you must go to page 2 and 3 to see the total compensation. Taxes were filed a few weeks ago so I’ll submit the transcript for ‘23. I honestly don’t think they know how to read the transcripts.

  4. When I filed the I-864 and 3 yrs tax transcripts '20, '21, 22' and '23 W2's (taxes not filed yet) NVC accepted but said I needed additional sponsor. My income for 2020 1.9 times required income, 2021 2.6 times, 2022 and 2023 5 times the required income for a family of 4.

I'm not understanding the problem. Anyone else have this issue?

I am now at 5 months 14 days for cr1 and cr2 after dq and nothing! I have sent many enquiries and they just say you are in line (manila)

Just the feeling of pfffft at this point. I suppose it will be any day but it seems there is no predicting the system. Maybe intentional and I get that :(

Doesn’t sound promising for us. Kind of just planning a 1 year wait. Good luck, following.

    Hi All,

I've come across a website call Hiltites today which appears to give statistics on USCIS approvals day-by-day. Based on what i've seen, it looks like they're reviewing applications based on receipt number. Currently, they are reviewing the ones around IOE917....

I applied in Feb2023 and my receipt number starts in IOE977.. while a friend of mine who applied in July2023 has a receipt number of IOE676...

How can this be? Is it possible there are some conditions that USCIS looks at when generating the IOE number? (i.e country). I assumed they were assigned automatically and in order but apparently not.

There is no logical order. I filed for my wife and 2 kids at the same time and the numbers are 909, 917, 972.

2 kids have been “taking longer than usual for 4 and 5 mo. The wife’s was 2 weeks in Aug and jumped to 3 mo. Now it’s down to a week.

Random, I don’t know. If there’s some logical sequence, no one seems to know. I have my suspicions but zero evidence so I just keep it to myself.

From different sources I watch 11 mo +- 2 weeks is common.

I don’t bother with it much, nothing I can do but wait. Check here about once a month. Look at that hilites (don’t look at the # look at filing date) and just read others posts here and there.

If you scroll up, someone was approved a few weeks ago but is still waiting on another approval before moving forward. I'm in the same boat as you—been stuck at "taking longer than expected" since July 9. ☹️

I have two in the taking longer than usual and one that jumped from 1 week to 3 mo. That said 3 mo would be about where most people are getting approved at 11 mo. I’m not sure about it so we just live on.

Has anyone had any updates on their I-130’s? My online USCIS page was showing 1 week remaining and now shows the taking longer than expected message. I’ve read its not reliable but hoping for the best!

Nope, I have 3 pending. None of them had the same processing time. They were all filed the same day and are approx 3.5 months different.

One timed out end of June, taking longer than expected, the next one timed out mid August taking longer than expected and the last one shows 3 weeks. It seems by everything I see it's 11-12 mo.

Yeah, and that's not 80% either. I have no idea the trigger for processing time, I suspect it's trying to merge the old and new system and it's just all out of whack. No idea really.
