  1. Hi and welcome to the forum. Please fill out your timeline: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=492865 If you've filed to adjust status, you can't leave the country. You now have to sit tight and wait for your EAD to be approved. You're in that weird bubble of authorized stay but no status. Start putting together everything you're going to need to prove to USCIS that you've entered into a legitimate marriage.
  2. Having to replace a thermostat because Duracells ruined it would tick me off something fierce. Happy to hear the leak didn't ruin it and you were able to recover it. I lost my camera flash for one of my dSLR's to Duracells. Lesson learned not to forget to take the batteries out. We've also lost some kids' toys over the years. I wasn't that sad when it was discovered that the Furbys were toast.
  3. Duracell batteries are complete and utter trash. They've ruined so many items. They are banned from our household. Energizer are fine. The biggest challenge has been finding lithium Energizers for non-extortionate prices!
  4. When are you coming to do mine for me? 🤣 Did you check your fire alarms, too? Time change transitions are apparently good times to check this. Personally, I just wait until the stupid thing starts beeping in the middle of the night and drives the dog nuts and I'm so beyond annoyed that I pull the stupid thing down until morning. Efficient? Probably not.
  5. I ran outta "cheaps" by 7:45pm! I probably should have grabbed another pair of boxes but usually I only get about I dunno...80 kids? As for the bags, they fit in the pumpkins and I had all but one kiddo say "Lays! Awesome!" or "this house has chips!" or "Cheetos...my favourite!" Halloween is a big deal in our neighborhood. There's a couple of houses that go ridiculously all out. It's pretty fun if you're with the kids. Very different to the Halloweens we had in Canada where you pretty typically had to choose something that fit over layers because it was anyone's guess as to whether there would be snow on the ground or not! Those cold Halloweens separated the wimps from the champs and typically, if you stuck it out, you came out loaded with goods.
  6. We've opted for the common "Canadian" thing of handing out potato chips. There's a Gordon Food Store not far away, so we grabbed a couple of 50 count boxes of Lays. It's a nice alternative to candy. Kid2 used to be severely dairy intolerant so doesn't care for chocolate and is old enough to know it's not worth the door to door effort when you can simply go to Kroger tomorrow and buy exactly what you want for massive discount. A couple of years ago, I used to grab the Costco Halloween Playdoh packs. Kids actually loved it. I just haven't paid enough attention when at Costco to grab said packs, so chips it is.
  7. Hello and welcome Please take a minute and fill out your timeline: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=493709 The RFE is asking for proof that your marriage is real and legitimate. Nigeria is a high fraud country, so they want to see things like spouses listed as beneficiaries on each other's investments (life insurance, retirement accounts, etc), joint accounts for things like banking, that you've filed your income taxes in the US as married, any trips you've taken together (airline tickets with your names on them, reservations in both names), etc. Think of it from the perspective of someone looking in - just because someone is married on paper doesn't mean the marriage is for the right reasons, and that's what USCIS are looking at. No one here is going to doubt that it's legitimate from what you've said, but, USCIS needs to scrutinize all cases.
  8. Some peeps in our hood have no power at present because of the wind. We were serenaded off and on all morning by the moans and groans of unhappy transformers. Centerpoint - the pinnacle of reliability!!!
  9. Please help out the VJ community by filling out your timeline: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=456318
  10. Additionally, just because Islamabad is potentially working on cases from that date doesn't mean visas are being issued immediately. Extensive AP is not uncommon in Pakistan. Attempting to move it guarantees nothing.
  11. Know what I hate more? Time change. Guess what's coming on the weekend? Time change. Enjoy those clocks for the couple of days they'll have the correct time for!!
  12. You can be doing all of the research now. Your first decision is public, private or charter school and then go from there. I suggest using Great Schools ratings as a starting point. If you are planning to move somewhere within the Houston Metro, look at the districts, how they rate and taxes in the areas you hope to live. The higher the taxes, typically the better the school district, unfortunately.
  13. I don't doubt we'll see that change in other places as well.
  14. Digital nomads can work in Canada without a separate visa for up to 6 months, barring they meet the entrance requirements.
  15. Please fill out your timeline here: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=493368 Knowing what consulate you'll be dealing with may help others tailor their answers to suit your needs. There will be a list provided of what your partner is required to bring to the interview and whether it has to be original or can be a copy. Your divorce decree will definitely be required, so you might as well upload it to CEAC.
  16. Please fill out your timeline: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=493495 If you search the consulate reviews, there are many for the Montreal consulate. Just make sure you have your paperwork in order and good luck!
  17. Who said there's not still time?
  18. The tread TBoneTX listed would definitely be helpful to you. But before proceeding, please fill out your timeline: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=493461
  19. We had neighbors kitty corner behind us who had a tree fall on their house during Beryl. Months later, they were finally having the roof repaired and the crew working on it were literally up there in the dark at like 6:30am (yes, p math errors for sure). I was in disbelief. So unbelievably unsafe. Gross. Usually our dog gets to it and then it sends her into a state of infected guts because she's allergic to animal protein. You should see if there is a vet tech who would come to your house and trim them. Typically they charge way less and Miu would probably be more amenable to a visitor rather than a car trip to the vet. I need to do this, but not enough motivation over the weekend. Should do it right now...it's lovely outside! Alas...I have to work.
  20. Maybe they'd get enough for the land that they could afford a tiny home. Not that you want the inlaws right outside, but better than IN your house, perhaps? It got worse when the (insert profanity) EZ Fiber contractors hit the Always Terrible & Telephones fiber, leaving us with no interwebz. Hubs put in a ticket on the AT&T system on Tuesday evening for a Wednesday appointment. The rep shows up at our door and shakes his head, apologizes and says "I see the problem here". He called back to HQ and told them it's not an individual line in issue, but a much larger one caused by (morons). At least AT&T under promised and over delivered. The anticipated time for restoration was this morning but around 6pm, Kid2 noticed his wifi was working on his device. He rejoiced because, well, kids these days don't know what it's really like to have to self entertain like we did before interwebz existed. Working yesterday while tethered to my phone was less than fun. We talked about back up wifi but honestly, we shouldn't have to fork over the cash for that. AT&T has a robust system with power back up that even when Centerpoint can't provide power for homes, AT&T can for their fiber. During Beryl last year when we were powered by generator, we had interwebz (yet again, another reason the teenagers descended upon our home - AC & interwebz go a long way!). These companies should be put to a vote - do we want them to come in and rip up our yards for their services? If the majority say no, that's a hard pass. Precovid, sure, I'd have potentially voted for them but that was because we had one option for fast interwebz. Since then, we've had 2 other fiber companies install, so this is a third. Evidently enough, the first ones that brought services in hit the trunk line for our former ISP and damaged it to a point that our previously robust, reliable service became horribly unreliable. See, many reasons to take up profane seafaring. Or, maybe it's just flashbacks to my oil patch days. Like sailors, patch workers speak a similar language!
  21. Oh boy! That's a lot of government to deal with! Probably the best choice. Good luck
  22. Sailor. Definitely a sailor.
  23. Isn't this a bit of Groundhog Day? You've asked about filing outside of the 90 day window, about your brother as a joint sponsor, etc in your previous threads. Why start a new one with similar questions instead of continuing your others?
  24. Disagree. Plenty of coffee varietals and roasts, just like there are plenty of varietals and blends of teas. Wine. Beautiful, full bodied reds.
  25. Ugh...I wandered over to let the EZFiber worker that was digging 2 doors down that all the houses along our side of the street have underground sprinklers. As turned around to walk back home, I wasn't paying attention and didn't notice that the neighbor's sprinkler head hadn't receded into the body like it should have and I smashed my big toe into the pop up, taking a chunk of skin out at the top of the nail bed. It was bleeding onto my flip flop. Bled through one bandaid in short order. Had to pivot bandaid strategies, exchanging a fabric bandaid with cute narwhals for a second skin NextCare plastic bandaid so I don't bleed through my shoe. Had to pivot shoe selection too. Ouch ouch ouch...😭
