  1. Thank you. I don't know exactly what went on the meeting. The lawyer was present by phone and there was a translator also. According to both...the interview went well and officer approved the case verbally. Over 2 weeks now and the Uscis account has had no movement, but that is to be expected. Not the best current status. I know this from my personal immigration process, my wifes and also my MIL since she came on U4U. We are not worried, just concerned that is taking so ong to egt the GC.
  2. Thank you, the interview was approved. My questions is when will the GC be issued....
  3. the interviewer said he would change the matter in the forms. He also said the I-485 was approved. Why would someone worry about approval, since the USCIS officer confirmed it?
  4. Hi: My MIL had her interview last Friday. As I wasn't present, I can only go by what I was told.... So the interviewer called her in because the paperwork seemed to have a mistake. A checkbox that was marked yes instead of no in section where was asked if you where ever part of the Communist Party. MIL was born in Russian Federation and is a Ukraine national. Long story short, my question is about the length of time till GC is issued. The interview went well and approved. I checked online and USCIS website has not changed to approved still. Should we be concerned or just wait patiently. Thanks for any answers.
  5. Thank you, I will discuss the issue with my wife and see that MIL knows how to properly answer and be short and accurate. At this point she is really clueless about the home address and such. Another thing to have to prep her on. Can our lawyer answer questions for her as a translator or is that forbidden?
  6. Hi: Hope this is the right forum for the question. My MIL has her interview soon for adjustment of status. She came under U4U, if that matters. She does not speak English. We are taking someone that is not a certified translator, but has done this at our local USCIS field office (Montgomery, AL). From what I understand, the lawyer explained to us that usually they do not allow the petitioner (my wife) to go and be present at the interview. Question: What are the rules for interpreters? The notice says they have to be proficient in English and Russian (our case) and certify that the translation is complete and accurate. Do they have to have some sort of certification? Credentials? or else? Has someone had experience doing this. This is someone my wife befriended in a charity event for Ukrainian bake Sale. I am not doubting she has helped others, just don't want to take my chances and my MIL will be there w/o proper translator or help. Other than not speaking English, she is elderly 74yo and has doesn't have a clue the importance of this interview. There are no available local translators in the area, that I could find either. Interview is in 3.5 weeks. Thanks for any suggestions and comments.
  7. Thanks for the clarification. I will look into the guide here in VJ again then
  8. Hi: I am confused with the 90 day rule for a parent. My MIL is here on parole with U4U. We have decided to proceed with the adjustment. At first we weren't sure if she wanted to stay so we never applied for I-130. Not up to us...she makes her own decisions. Now, that she is here, she will stay and has decided she won't go back to Ukraine. What forms need to be filed? I-130, I-485 and have the medical (I-693) ready before sending it all out? How does intent affect her filing? Parole is a non-immigrant status. Will we need to wait the 90 days to file for her not to be questioned about intent? Since her daughter is USC, will this be even asked? Going back to her prior living situation in Poland to wait for I-130 and visa, is out of the question. Is adjusting from B1/B2 same issue as adjusting from U4U in this specific case? (mother of USC)
  9. Thanks, this is possible since i have read some cases on reddit, but specifically we don not know the path for adjusting. I am not aware where and how to do the medical part to send the appropriate paperwork. This morning we figured how to get EAD and Social security card w/o help. ...and yes, my wife is USC.
  10. Hi: My mother in law just got here to the US on a humanitarian visa. She came through U4U. How can she adjust her status? My wife, is a USC over 21 years old and she would like to start the process of adjusting her status. Problem is we have no idea where to start. 1) how to get her application for a Social security card? Is is faster to do this before the adjustment or together when filing for everything? I heard U4U gets their EAD and social security card real quick. 2) How to apply for EAD and AP (if she is elegible) 3) How to get her vaccination done and where to get it done and is it done before we start all the immigration paperwork? 4) Is she eligible for somekinda goverment program, since she is 74 y.o? Medicaid? There is no set rules or answers on USCIS on how to proceed, since her case is not the majority of U4U cases or should we just go with a lawyer and let them do it for us? Thanks for any advice. Please move this topic to the appropriate forum if needed.
