  1. How do I find out, if I can take someone to the oath ceremony with me? It doesn't say it in the letter. Do I call the courthouse and ask? 🤔 By the way... I talked a little to the officer after we were done with the formal part yesterday. I had my interview in NC, but live in VA. And apparently VA has a weird legislation (according to the officer). They don’t allow VA residents to take their oath in NC. So, on the day of the oath ceremony an officer from NC has to take the certificates and take them to the courthouse in person, which is about a 4-hour drive. Always interesting to see how they complicate things 🫠
  2. Thank you! 😊 Also just received the date for my oath ceremony. It's gonna be end of April 🎉
  3. Just got done with the interview... He said, I passed 😁 But I got the usual slip that says "a decision can't be made at this time".
  4. Wasn't planning on doing it before the interview 😆 but probably afterwards, once I get home lol I had a somewhat "unpleasant" officer during my AOS interview. Never smiled, told me to stop looking through paperwork after he asked me about a detail of something (can't remember what it was) because otherwise I'll fail the interview for not paying attention... I hope, this time I'll get a nice officer 😅
  5. Okay, thank you! 🙂 I hope, I'll get a nice officer, who just asks me the most basic questions. I tend to forget stuff when I get nervous 😅
  6. I wouldn't have filed with a divorce waiver, if I still had a husband 😝 And I prefer the answer with the lightning (not going to say it during the interview though).
  7. I got an app, a book and flashcards... I make my boyfriend go through all the flashcards with me. And I'm complaining every time why "got hit by lightning while flying a kite" is not one of the answers. Very disappointing... That's the only thing I knew about him before I actually studied the questions 😂
  8. Unfortunately, I'm scared I might forget all the civics questions, too...
  9. 1. I had a work accident a month ago and cut a tendon in my hand and had surgery, so unfortunately, I can’t do violent physical exercise. 2. I'm working on that lol Love your advise! 😂
  10. Umm... I think it was in a FB group for German dual citizens. I'm honestly not sure anymore 😅 I usually don't care much about rumors... but you know how it can be, once you overthink, you think of everything possible lol. I do believe though, I also seen something on the USCIS website before. But I think it was more like "you should understand these words when applying for naturalization". Not as in, they're going to ask you words and you have to give a perfect definition. Well, thank you! I usually try to give as much information as possible when I review or explain something. I'm also trying to tell that myself, it's by far the easiest part of the whole immigration journey. I should relax. I've done the whole K-1, AOS, ROC (with divorce waiver) and now naturalization process all by myself. Without any RFE's or other issues. It shouldn't be that difficult... But I like to overthink and panic 😬 so, just making sure, I'm 100% prepared.
  11. Thank you! I have it in two different binders though. One with the "required" stuff and then another one with all the other stuff. Thought, I might put my small binder on the table, ready to go... and the other one in a bag as a backup, in case they got in depth questions about my immigration history. I am just worried about security. Are they gonna let me go inside with a giant (over 700) pages binder? Other than that... Anything else I should prepare for? I know the 100 civic questions, speak, write and understand English. But haven't specifically studied "definitions" of words that are part of the application. I heard about that part for the first time recently. Do they really ask you to define words or is it just basic understanding of anything that's in the naturalization application?
  12. Just want to double check, if I have everything or maybe forgot something that I'm gonna need for my interview next week: - Interview Notice (Form I-797C) - Green Card & old work permit - Driver's License - Passport - Copy of N-400 application - Marriage & Divorce Certificates - Tax Returns (2020 - 2025) I'm also taking my whole binder of all the other applications and documents, I ever sent them throughout the whole immigration process... just in case. Or is that too much?
  13. Thank you! I submitted my application July 12th. I don't even know what an API update is lol
  14. Just got an email from USCIS that they've taken action on my case... Interview scheduled for March! ✨️
