  1. Hello dear friends,

I would like to know if any of you have had the following experience:
A few days ago I sent my request for “RENEWAL” of employment authorization (EAD), but the receipt that arrived after 15 days does not specify that it is a “Renewal”. It only says "Case Type: I-175 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION", it also came with a different number of "Receipt Number" to the first one I received when I requested the issuance of the EAD. I thought that, since it was a renewal, instead of creating a new case number, they only updated the previous case.

Is this normal? Or should the Case Type specify what is a renewal?

Thank you very much for your opinions ...

Waivers are not considered public charge, vawa petitioners are exempt from the public charge regulations, and EAD renewal sometimes take as long as you stated above, but I've seen folks get theirs much earlier and others much later! Patience is our watch word!😊👍

    Hello dear friends,

It is clear to me that Vawa applicants will not be affected by the new public charge rule (Regulation). It will only affect applications (NO VAWA) received after October 15.On the other hand, I was reading (attached link) that, with the exception of Vawa applicants, they will be affected if in the past they applied for Fee Waivers for Immigration Benefits (Public Charge Inadmissibility Determination Based on Totality of Circumstances).

I thank your comments on this regard.

  3. Hello everybody!
I have two questions and I appreciate if someone can help me:
    1. How long does it take USCIS to renew (Do not issue a new one) the EAD in Vermont?  on the official page USCIS informs that the creation of a new one takes Vermont between 5.5 and 7.5 months, but I want to know if USCIS takes the same time to renew that to issue a new EAD?
    2. Will the new Public charging regulations affect Vawa applicants?
    3. Is requesting a fee exemption for forms I-485 and I-765 considered public charge?
    Thanks for helping...
