the way my Senator explained it to me is "Congress has no control over USCIS /it comes under Department of Homeland Security and is paid for by our fees. Senator can write a letter at their discretion but have no power Congress is responsible for immigration laws Hacking law (one of the best) says https://thevisafirm.com/dc-immigration-lawyer/us-government-agencies-involved/#:~:text=The%20US%20Department%20of%20State%20has%20the%20primary%20responsibility%20of,a%20visa%20is%20typically%20required. USCIS oversees the process of lawful entry into the United States. Family members and employers who are sponsoring foreign nationals for immigration will submit applications and documentation to USCIS. Individuals who are immigrating will also be dealing with USCIS officials. For example, it is USCIS who conducts a naturalization interview, who administers English and civics tests to would-be citizens, and who conducts green card interviews.

About second K1 petition interview questions
JeanneAdil replied to HKer's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
CO can ask anything they want like why u broke up when where was the bene from CO wants to see how well she knows u and your life in the US -
another lawyer who gives bad advice so 2+/- years to get the interview if K1 is approved, 2+/- years for green card 4 +/- for the bene to think to go home/ dealing with the homesickness WOW It really isn't fair to the beneficary of a K1 to go thru years of BS from immigration and be without family that long this is just my opinion but from reading what others go thru with K1 and homesickness, i am strong on my belief K1 is taking the same time as CR1 (but only for the US visa_ / after that there is marriage in USA and petitioning for the adjustment of status (AOS) to get the green card and that is taking 2 years for some or longer/ also the new fee proposal make the AOS $2820 after marriage instead of the $1225 K1 gets to be a hassle when it comes to not being able to travel back home till u get the AP, among hassle to get DL , SS# , add to health insurance and applying again in 2 years for removal of conditions for the 10 years instead of 2 year green card

CHANGING YOUR NAME AFTER YOUR MARRIAGE-BASED GREEN CARD IS APPROVED Changing your name after the fact is usually more involved, but not impossible. If you don’t apply for a name change when submitting your immigration paperwork, the next chance you would have would be at the I-751 filing (once you’ve had the green card for 2 years). Or you would file Form I-90 for a name change and pay additional government filing fees, on top of updating your name separately with every agency (social security, USCIS, banks, etc.). You could also request the name change later with USCIS if you later apply for naturalization to become a US citizen. Should you choose to update your name after the fact, you will also need to change your name with other agencies and services as well, including but not limited to: or u can wait to have it changed during oath ceremony (N 400) she doesn't need a last name change to get a DL / it can be in maiden name

JeanneAdil replied to Successful Pinky's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
interesting question as it doesn't say who but what / the who would be Russia but what???? I am not sure how i would answer a what question We were fighting a race to get to the moon we were fighting to get the Berlin wall torn down we were fighting to get missles out of Cuba internet says this the two superpowers continually antagonized each other through political maneuvering, military coalitions, espionage, propaganda, arms buildups, economic aid, and proxy wars between other nations. -
after the 15th of April he needs the 2022 returns for NVC and interview NVC will put him on hold (with a RFE for recent tax returns) OP if u r worried that doing a W7 for ITIN means delayed processing, use copy of 1040x (amended) and send in W2's. and any other taxable income statements u r giving away $12,950 Standard deduction 2022 For the 2022 tax year, tax returns are due April 18, 2023. The 2022 standard deduction is $12,950 for single filers and those married filing separately, $25,900 for joint filers, and $19,400 for heads of household.3 days ago

you are trying to prove marriage and real relationship in an already hard embassy u r married and must file as married whether u go MFS or MFJ with the w7 for ITIN is up to u but u can't file single/ other only option is head of household if u have a qualifying dependent Even H&R site says Unfortunately, you can’t file single if married to a nonresident alien (NRA). Once you tie the knot, you must either go with Married Filing Separately or Married Filing Jointly. Even if your spouse remains in Canada or lives in another country, the tax rules remain the same. https://www.hrblock.com/expat-tax-preparation/resource-center/filing/status/married-to-a-nonresident-alien-spouse-these-are-your-u-s-tax-filing-options/#:~:text=Unfortunately%2C%20you%20can't%20file,tax%20rules%20remain%20the%20same.

Can I change my last name on my green card? You can correct the spelling of the name on your green card by requesting a correction on an Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card (Form I-90). This involves paying a fee. You may not need to pay a fee if you correct your name during the naturalization process.Oct 18, 2022

to really help u the USC should join the conversation here and not to sound like a real bragger as i did not start this group but this site has more members who have gone thru the immigration process than any one lawyer has had immigration clients and as we have seen many times , law offices have made errors on petitions that hurt a case and the USC is responsible for all the info on the petition and documents submitted there are good lawyers but this one is not one of them -

yes, mine was denied and we had to marry and go thru CR1 K1 can be approved if there are NO RED FLAG issues but the CR1 has a stronger chance https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/red-flags-that-make-uscis-suspect-marriage-fraud.html -

its faster as u can work on a CR1 visa upon entry to US , get your SS #, and apply for driving license all those take a long time on K1 -

K1 use to take less than a year Read thru the timelines here on ANY portal (hit the word portal above) and u will see 15 months to go thru 1st stage and then the long wait for embassy to say send packets for interviews its is 2+ for an interview same as spouse visa and then 2+ years to get green card and adviance parole to be able to travel so, K1 + AOS u would be waiting 4+ years to return to Moroc for a marriage there AND DONT MARRY THERE ON k1 VISA /please don't mess this up Allah yessir -

Listen to Boiler that poster knows the immigration business BTW the embassy will check the registry in Rabat to make sure u are not married before a K1 is issued and u can't marry before coming -not even just with an IMAM as IMAM submits the signed document to Rabat I did marry in Moroc so this i am familiar with the process (Jeanne) Once the approval is made of the court the process is finalized with the imam. The signing of the marriage contract by the two partners is the final step and the imam submits the signed final certificate. Submits the signed certified means sent to Rabat to register the marriage
