Yeah, seen it handled that way too but didn't know your embassy to look it up Profile says local office is Dallas /I hope that office is not listed on your petition -
No, i recommend the spouse visa CR1 K1 is more expensive K1 takes as long as CR1 K1 is often denied (for calling the person my wife) and then u have to marry and start all over again Our countries are harder on K1 petitions /mine was denied in 2009 and we had to meet and marry 2010

USCIS specific for K1 https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/forms/ds-160-online-nonimmigrant-visa-application.html The DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application form, is for temporary travel to the United States, and for K (fiancé(e)) visas. Form DS-160 is submitted electronically to the Department of State website via the Internet. Consular Officers use the information entered on the DS-160 to process the visa application and, combined with a personal interview, determine an applicant’s eligibility for a nonimmigrant visa. Print and keep the DS-160 barcode page. (You will not need to print the full application.) You must schedule a visa interview appointment. (The U.S. Embassy or Consulate does not schedule an appointment for you.) Visit the U.S. Embassy or Consulate website where you will be interviewed for country-specific instructions.; Pay the visa application processing fee. Review country-specific instructions on the U.S. Embassy or Consulate website. Some embassies make u pay at embassy in USD or country's money but check your embassy for info -
And it makes CO's say "too married for a spouse visa" we see this over and over especially in west African countries like this poster (Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal , Moroc) CO will see a text or email or an engagement party and say "married" even if its the culture and a marriage is not reported to government agency/ the CO has the power to make the final decision

JeanneAdil replied to KseniyaG's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
social media sites such as this one are attached to an email ID and /or email ID backup he needs to go into his emails and check for messages they may have sent in the past as they will come thru with the ID /like mine here comes to yahoo https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Enhanced Vetting/CA - FAQs on Social Media Collection - 6-4-2019 (v.2).pdf What if applicants participate in multiple online platforms? Are they being asked to list all of their handles, or only one? Applicants must provide all identifiers used for all listed platforms. -
Hi everyone, I have done all this before for my first green card however it was direct with London consulate so very different! I am preparing for NVC stage which is all new to me, here in the U.K. the police certificate (like everything) seems to have delays. So I want to get onto this and get it ordered in readiness, however I... June 29 1 reply

Tasks while waiting on USCIS
JeanneAdil replied to Petersaad1's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
but when living in Africa , hand carry and another visit is the best way -
you can look up wait times for immigrant visas and AOS on following site and as said by others "the processing times change often" https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ If u r thinking to bring a family member now that u have been approved for citizenship , parents take about as long as a spouse and siblings take 10+ years so the wait times vary per office and visa type and relationship to petitioner

Your USC wife should join the group as there is a lot of information she needs and guides here to follow At this point it is the USC who does the petition and needs to follow the proper steps with supporting docments for the CR1 spouse visa If u are not married , u must stop referring to her as your wife as the CO seeing this at interview will think u are married and deny k1 saying "too married for K1" costing u a lot of time and additional money From Africa countries she needs to spend quality time with u to have what immigration calls a "real relationship" ;;if married,a bona fida marriage" BTW K1 is the more expensive visa to pursue

Naturalized.... dual citizenship
JeanneAdil replied to Me and her's topic in Middle East and North Africa
https://www.multiplecitizenship.com/wscl/ws_TUNISIA.html DUAL CITIZENSHIP: RECOGNIZED. You may want to read the US embassy in Tunisia and what it says about dual citizenship like the following since now u r a US citizen https://tn.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/faqs/ Under U.S. law, U.S. citizens must be in possession of a valid U.S. passport to enter or leave the United States. This is true even if you hold a passport from another country. If your U.S. passport has been lost or stolen, or if it has expired, you must apply to replace it before traveling to the United States. -
Tasks while waiting on USCIS
JeanneAdil replied to Petersaad1's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
NOA1 was dated late 2/2023 so u have a few months of waiting ahead of u save all correspondence with USCIS and NVC (when u go thru that step file your 2023 taxes as married /u r no longer single how u file is your choice MFS or MFJ or head of household if qualified refer to IRS for info https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/nonresident-spouse As soon as u have been dq by NVC mail the original to the immigrant so your spouse has them for interview as mail is slow in many African countries documents need to be in native language with an English translation and visit spouse as often as u can to strengthen your case our countries look to time spent together for establishing a real relationship -
You are in California so u need to follow California laws for a certified copy as not all states are the same https://www.usnotarycenter.com/post/post450#:~:text=The custodian makes a photocopy, the truthfulness of the statement. How to do a "True Copy" notarization in California? The permanent keeper of the document — the document custodian — certifies the copy, not the Notary. The custodian makes a photocopy of the original document, makes a written statement that the copy is true, correct, and complete, signs that statement before a Notary, is identified by the Notary, and takes an oath or affirmation regarding the truthfulness of the statement. The Notary, having witnessed the signing, identified the signer through satisfactory evidence and administered the oath or affirmation, executes a jurat.
