  1. Well her homework wasn´t to read the assigned chapter...I am sure if that was the case she would have done it....Well thanks God for my parents...when I wanted to learn something from them, they never refused...

None of my children have ever been refused either. Such questions are generally part of a history assignement. You read the chapter and answer the questions. Reading the chapter will get you the answer and you learn the associated history. Asking mom or dad for the answers to the questions without doing the reading and learning is not doing your homework. Mom and dad answering instead of making the kid read the chapter and find the answer is, IMO, not the way for a child to "learn".

    Opinions will vary on this.

yeah my opinion is different on this. i thought my dad was (is!) a very interesting man. either he could tell me about a subject or a book could. i would choose my dad. i like listening to him.

i dont think its bad for the OP to get some personal stories, its not like she will quote it in her paper and make it a fact. its to give probably even just her, an idea. Plus its a forum, people like to share their stories.

  2. I perfectly understand what "deportation" means.

Do you know what "bodily harm" means?? Do you know what it means to have someone abuse you physically?? What it means to have bite marks and bruises on your body because the woman your brought to the US, the one you spent thousands of dollars on to marry is causing this to you???

I am not gleeful about her being behind bars at all. I'm actually very very sad that things turned out like this. And the only reason she is behind bars is because of her actions and attitudes towards me. Not my fault. NO ONE HAS A RIGHT TO INFLICT BODILY HARM ON ANYBODY. Much less your spouse, whom you claim to love.

Pride here has nothing to do with it.....

She bit you? Usually a woman bites when someone assaults her. I can

visualize her scratching you or tearing off your hair, but biting...

What, she just jumped at you and started... biting you? It sounds so

    strange.

thats way out of line, you do not know the situation or any of the people involved. he asked for help, then thats what you should give him, or not say anything at all. its a forum.

  3. i am a temp postal server and today i walked in the hail and rain all day. ok thats fine... BUT this lady opens the door at one house and says: i have to say the mail is really late today!' #######?! My look killed her instantly so not to worry about her anymore.

  4. Well today was my medical so here my experience:

When i recieved Packet 4 it gave me the phone numbers of Dr. Schulte and of the Jan van Goyen Clinic in Amsterdam. You need to first call the dr. and then the clinic. So i got my appointments and filled in part of the forms that were in the packet too. Its not much and thet explain it well, just your info and passport number.

I took tram 24 (or you can take 16) to Museumplein which took 15mins. It was easy to find the drs office and so i got there 15 mins early. The assistent was really helpful and nice eventhough the phone was ringing non-stop. She prepared my papers (put stamps and dates) and wend through one of the forms. I cant remember which one it was but basically she wend through all the deseases and addictions possible. Very quick. (Good to know is that if you take any medicine, bring it with you or write down the name, they want to know it).

She then checked my vaccination book and i didnt need any more. MMR i had when i was 9 and DTP boost i did at my own dr. This is really advisable as it saves you lots of money. Also, do not take a vaccination add-on to your insurance, the money you pay extra is not worth it. DTP cost me 15euros. Then she told me to go ahead and go do the xray at the clinic. Im guessing because they were running late and i could come back later and be seen to straight away.

Sooooo i walked to the clinic (about 20mins if that) and there were some people there so i had to wait about 30mins. The xray took all of 5 mins and then I paid the 50 euros and left. They sent the xray once checked to the embassy.

Soooooo i walked aaaaall the way back to the dr. I was indeed seen to straight away. First by his son (also dr), he took blood. Then on to the office to do the examination. He asked some more questions about my medical history. Then he measured me, weighed me (i need to lose some pounds...) checked my blood pressure, eyes and mouth and then made me breath and listened to my heart and did some knocking on my chest and back. That was it. He explained me that if i wouldnt hear anything this week, all would be fine. All documents are being sent to the embassy. Oh yeah... and i paid 155 euros.

All in all it was pleasant and fast. My first appointment was at 10, then xray at 12pm, but somehow i walked to the trainstation at 12pm. Hmm.. Very flexible. The dr was nice and asked me all about my new home and husband.

So now; no news is good news!

  6. I changed my address when i moved from London to Holland 2 months ago. The p**** didnt register this right so now the NVC has send my petition to London on october 1st! We recieved the letter stating this today! This week i was aready wondering about it and had called london to check, the lady on the phon 'couldnt' help me and gave me an email address to write them. that came back 'unread' and said they couldnt help me via email! thomas tried calling the NVC but its a holiday so no answer. i emailed the embassy in amsterdam,. what else can i do? worst case it goes to my old house which was in the hostel where i worked. it would be safe there but i really dont want a delay.

anyway this was also to write away my frustration.

    thanks

  7. i am currently visiting my fiancee in the US. I entered the country abt. 2 weeks after NOA 1 and will spend 7 weeks in total. NO QUESTION was being asked at all. I already spent 6 weeks here in March.

POE was Denver and PHIL, and, like I said: i was being asked MORE questions when i was entering on my J1 2 years ago.

i personally don't see a point of using lawyers for K1-visas as long as there aren't a bunch of divorces, kids and illegalities involved. i only heard negative experiences so far.

Thats exactly why there is a lawyer involved for my case. Anyway, all I can say, if one person had their application abandoned because quite a few people were able to travel and did not get caught, so they tried it and didn't have the same luck, then all has been wasted, and that is a risk I am NOT willing to take.

its up to each person, but this is a long process and i miss my man. so ive visited him once before we were engaged in march 07, then in june i wend again and in 3 days AGAIN!! i have loads of proof. But so far they only asked about my job and how long i stay. when asked whom i was visiting i was honest.

know lots about the K1 or whatever process you are in. be confident (not arrogant), dont say more than nessicary and have proof. you will be just fine!

  8. The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where! More komplikated changes are possible.

Governments will enkourage the removal of Double letters which have always Ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should GO away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as

Replasing "th" with "Z" and "w" with "v".

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl.

Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

If zis mad you smil, pleas pas on to oza pepl.
