Hi everyone,
My wife is coming to the US next week on a K3. We're planning to file for adjustment of status as soon as possible after she's here.
I am graduating from medical school in the next month and will be starting work as a medical resident at the end of June.
While in school I wasn't employed, but did earn some income from old investments
I am concerned about being the only sponsor for my wife, because - even though I had decent financial assets - the income on my recent W2's has been low.
I am wondering if my father can be a co-sponsor for my wife, even though we are not going to be living with my parents. From what I can tell, it looks like he can't be included in my household size calculation so he can't be a co-sponsor!
Is this correct?
Any advice would be welcome! (I am so frustrated with USCIS phone support and the Boston USCIS office that I thought I'd start asking here first!)
Cheers

If you send in the applications for AOS before one year has passed since her medical exam, she will not require a second exam. She may need to complete the vaccinatoin supplement however with a civil surgeon in the US. Just take the vaccination summary from the first exam to a civil surgeon and they'll take your money and fill in the form.
Thanks for your reply.
The problem is we never got any vaccination summary ourselves -- this is all sealed in the official envelope that my wife apparently has to hand over as soon as she lands in the US.

hi everyone,
my wife is an austrian citizen who will be coming to the US this may after she completes her studies. she has already obtained a K-3 visa.
we plan to file for adjustment of status as soon as possible after she enters the US.
she already had a medical exam and vaccination check in vienna, just a few months ago. (everything was fine, she is up to date with her vaccinations) we received a sealed envelope from the consulate.
i am looking through the I-485 and trying to determine what additional medical documentation will need to be submitted in the states, if any.
i emailed the vienna consultate this morning and they wrote back the following:
"Please be advised that a copy of the medical report form DS-2053, Medical Examination for Immigrant or Refugee Applicant and the form DS-3025, Vaccination Documentation Worksheet were enclosed in the x-ray envelope, which was returned to your wife on the day of the interview at our office.
As this office advised your wife, she must present the passport containing the K-3 visa and the sealed packet to the Immigration Officer at the Port of Entry (POE).The officer at the POE will keep the sealed envelope. "
do i still need to go with my wife to a civil surgeon in the US to file the I-693 vaccine supplement? we do not have a second copy of ds-3025 (it is in the sealed envelope from the consulate) but i do have a list of her previous vaccines that has been signed and stamped by a vienna clinic.
any suggestions would be most welcome!
cheers

Thanks everyone for your help.
It sounds like I should NOT have my father fill out the 864A -- I'll have him fill out an I-864.
The instructions on the forms are not the clearest, so I thought I'd ask rather than have anything sent back!
