  1. We received our DQ notification in December and our interview is scheduled at the Naha consulate for February 13. I logged back into CEAC today and saw that our I-864 is now rejected with the following response note: "AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT MUST BE CONNECTED BEFORE ACCEPTANCE-HOUSEHOLD SIZE, INCOMES." There are no new messages in our inbox, so I  am unsure as to what exactly is incorrect. I plan on calling the NVC, however I was wondering if anyone has come across the situation before? Does this mean that I must resubmit the I-864 and wait out the review process again, or can we just bring the updated form to our interview in February?

Oh can you please update me if you already get your DQ. We will get through with this.

Still no DQ, however I am hopefully my case will be completed within the next week or two.

  3. I just tried CEAC and still can't upload anything. I finally called the NVC last Friday evening, and after being on hold for ninety minutes was told "the IT team is working on it night and day". I don't know about anyone else, but if my employer's systems were down for a week or more, whole departments would be getting fired...

  4. I uploaded AOS financial evidence and civil documents to CEAC on September 10; since that time all documents have been listed as "SUBMITTED". I received an email from NVC last night stating that my case had been updated. When I logged into CEAC, the document status had been changed to "ACCEPTED", however the following messages is in my inbox.

**Case FE Review note - Please submit every Form W-2/1099 on CHRISTOPHER's submitted tax transcript or tax return.

I submitted my 2018 IRS tax transcript; why would they need copies of the W-2 forms as well? The I-864 directions explicitly state that a W-2 is not required if submitting a tax transcript. When I clicked on the ACCEPTED link for my documents, I get the same maintenance error message as everyone else. There is no other indication as to how I am supposed to submit the W-2 forms.

My question is this: do I really need to upload the W-2 forms in CEAC, or should I just bring them to our interview when it is eventually scheduled? I will try calling NVC tonight, but am really hoping if anyone has a similar experience and can tell me if my case is actually in the process of being completed.

Thanks for the support, the VJ community has been incredible!

  5. Hi Team VJ,

Our case is currently at the NVC waiting to be reviewed. When we submitted the I-864, we listed our household size as "3". Since then, however, our son has turned 21 years old and is no longer considered a dependent (he does not live with us, nor is he listed as a dependent on our tax returns). When it comes time for the interview, will our household size be reduced to just myself and spouse beneficiary? I ask because we are forgoing a joint sponsor in favor of cash assets; having a smaller household size gives us a bit more clearance above the 125% poverty threshold.

Thank you very much for any input and/or advice!

  6. Hello fellow VJers,

I have a question about proving a bona fide relationship with my spouse. All required paperwork has been submitted to the NVC and we are just waiting for our interview appointment to be scheduled. We have been married for more than twenty-four years and have two college-age children together (both U.S. citizens). Additionally, I sponsored my wife's green card once before (back when the I-130 was only $130!), and we lived and worked in the Seattle area for almost a decade.

Beyond the required documentation, do you believe it is still necessary to bring family photographs to the interview appointment? I ask because all of our picture albums are in storage back in Washington, and it would take quite a bit of time and money to have them sent to our present location (Okinawa, Japan).

    What does everyone think?

    -Chris
