A little bit late to update this but my oath certificate came back to me 2 weeks following receipt of the passport

I went ahead and registered without my oath certificate just using my drivers license. I just checked and I am now registered to vote. I am in Texas.

Passport received by office : 26th Sep Passport shipped : 13th Oct Pretty happy with that. Hopefully I will receive it soon along with my original oath certificate. Feels a bit surreal that I am finally done with this process. 2018 K1 filed, Married 2019, US citizen 2023.

Hello, I have read conflicting things about voter registration, looking for advice on what I need to do. I currently do not have my naturlisation certificate, it is with the passport office. I do not expect to see it for at least another couple months if the timelines given to me by the passport office are correct. Do I need my certificate to register? I have been told elsewhere I just need my driving license. Thanks

I made an appointment and went to the post office. They took my original and said it would be returned separately to the passport. I have a copy in reserve.

Hello, I did my oath on Tuesday. From what I have read online people have been applying for passports almost immediately. The form asked for my SSN, can I use my 'old' one? We were told at the oath that we need to wait 10 days for a new SSN. Should I go ahead and submit my passport application now, or do I need to wait until I have my new SSN? Thanks

Had the oath today. I am now done with USCIS. Next step is passport. Good luck in all your cases

I called USCIS to enquire about moving the ceremony. Tier 1 was useless. Asked for a Tier 2 rep and was told I will receive a call within 30 days. At that point I realized I am ready to be done with USCIS so I bit the bullet, paid the money and moved the flights so I can make the 12th. Ready to be a US citizen and be done with USCIS. It has been a long road. Good luck to everyone with your cases.

Dashinka is correct on the passport. It was the reason for my first reschedule. I do have another trip planned at thanksgiving week so rescheduling again will mean rolling the dice and hoping it is not that date. I am leaning towards moving the vacation, attending the oath and being done with the USCIS forever after this. Thanks for listening to my rant in my OP

My Oath was arranged 6 weeks before pre-booked travel on the 1st September not leaving me enough time to get a USA passport (expedited times at the time of oath letter were 6-8 weeks). I notified the USCIS of this and included evidence of pre-booked travel stating I will be back in the country 17th September and will be able to attend any date after that. Shortly after I got a notification saying 'WE CANCELLED YOUR OATH CEREMONY', a few days later I received another notification saying ' PLACED IN LINE FOR OATH CEROMONY'. Great, they got my letter, I thought. I have just woken up to a USCIS notification saying my Oath has been rescheduled to the 12th September. I plan to call them today (Friday) and ask for tier 2 to see if I can reschedule again. Will my first rescheduling count as being absent? I understand that missing the Oath twice results in the case being abandoned, something I obviously do not want to do. My only other option is to move the trip a week sooner to be back in time for the Oath on the 12th, this will come at a great expense but if I get no response from USCIS it leaves me no choice. I do not want to be on vacation wondering if the USCIS have deemed my case abandoned. I am not looking for judgement. I understand how important this is already, I am just looking for advice. Thanks

Thanks. I just looked into this and managed to get an appointment the day after my oath ceremony fairly local to me. Anyone else had experiences in moving the oath?

Interview held May 31st Oath arranged for 6th July I have pre-booked & paid for travel abroad arranged for Sept 1st, assuming I file for the passport the day of the oath that gives me 8 weeks. Current expedited processing times are 7 - 9 weeks so not something I want to chance. The letter states that I can re-arrange the oath ceremony, has anyone done this with any success? I can see that I have to notify the office in writing, I was thinking of just writing a letter and including my travel plans and bank statements and request a date after I return back to the USA mid September. I cannot move the travel without taking a financial hit I booked the travel because I did not expect the N400 to move so quickly. Obviously pleased it did move quickly (after almost 2yr of ROC doing nothing) but still, the speed surprised me. Thanks.

Same with El Paso in my case. My ROC was stood nearing 2 years, I applied for N400 and had an interview scheduled a few weeks later. There was zero indication is would be a combo interview, I took my wife and she was turned away at the door by security. It was only when I sat with the officer he asked 'where is your spouse?", I had to leave the office to go get her and go through security again. Sorry your process is taking so long OP. Hopefully you will see some movement soon.

Anyone seen anything like this before? My Officer said I could attend a same day oath but I chose not too due to pending travel. I understand you can move the oath ceremony twice. My worry is that with the officer cancelling the same day oath I will not be able to move the oath ceremony again should it land on my travel dates. What are your thoughts?

Today was the day. Arrived with the wife and was told at the door she could not enter and had to wait in the car. When the officer saw me he said it would be a joint interview ROC and N400 and that I needed to grab her. The interview was quick, smooth and the officer was very friendly. He did say I could take the oath today if I wanted too. The only problem with that is that I have a trip coming up in 2 weeks. He did say he thinks I would be OK travelling with just a copy of the citizenship certificate, I was not soo sure. The oath is now going to be scheduled upon my return to the USA. Some might call me mad for not taking the oath then and there and getting it over with. The trip I just could not move. I am almost done. I did everything myself from the K1 through to N400 with the help of this forum. Crazy Cat & Rocco are a great asset to this forum.

I have my N400 next week. I am under the 3 year rule, my I751 is still pending and my interview notice makes no mention of a combo interview. I will take the wife anyway just encase Here is what I plan to take Listed on N400 letter N400 letter Green card Passports Marriage cert Spouse birth cert Selective service......I came to the US when I was 31 so I am out of the window for selective service. Other ROC evidence package that was originally submitted proof of marriage since then : Tax returns, deeds on house in joint name, car and medical insurances in both names, bank accounts in both names I feel like the above is enough. My ROC interview was a breeze so hoping this one goes the same way. That said, is there anything else I should include in the above? Thanks

Thanks. I have done limited research and tbh I am really confused. I do spend less than the required time in the UK each year to meet the non resident status. However having a home there available to me test confuses me. I think I need to consult with an accountant on this to make sure I dont fall foul of anything... If anyone has any accountant recommendations please inbox me

Hello, I am considering sending approx. $50,000 to England to my own UK bank account to pay off my mortgage there. The money was earnt in the USA and taxed accordingly. I would be looking to use WISE as I have done previously with small amounts <$1,000 Are there any tax implications I should be aware of? Thanks

I too filed ROC in July 21. Did not move until I filed N400 Filed N400 and then 6 weeks later interview arranged.

Filed ROC in July 21 and heard nothing until filing my N400 a few weeks back. Shortly after filing my N400 I received notice that my ROC case had been transfered and another notice for my N400 biometrics. Today I have received my N400 notice for late May. - There is no mention that this is a joint interview. I can see that the letter states "You will be notified separately about any other cases you filed" but there is no change on my ROC case as of yet. - Are you typically notified if it the interview is a joint interview, or are you just told this upon arrival? - If I am not able to be given a joint interview, would my ROC interview be waived or would I need to attend another separate interview for this? - Is my wife (USC) needed at the N400 interview? I am thinking of taking her with me just encase a joint interview is held on the day we get there. Thanks
