  1. In other news, someone that was a September 2022 applicant with the 751 at Potomac just got the case transferred to MSC. Checking to see if they did anything to prompt the movement.
  2. Did you submit an inquiry or anything that might have prompted the movement? Or did you just get both notifications normally while just waiting?
  3. Hence, why I use the quotations.
  4. Please remove my post.
  5. Seriously, what do these officers do. Sometimes I picture them just hanging on to the disaster cases, probably getting together for coffee to laugh about them, while the simple ones and straightforward just sit there collecting dust. LOL
  6. NEVER send original documentation. You always send copies. Then, you keep the originals to brin to any applicable interviews, etc. The only "original" I ever sent was our marriage license/certificate for the AOS. BUT, it was because we paid for multiple original copies.
  7. I did not say it would delay it even further. Nor did I say that I am advising (or will be doing it myself) to wait the 28 months at Potomac. My argument is with applying right at the one year mark. Also, unlike most people here on VJ, my posts are only an opinion and I do not try to pass them as "absolute truths". But, I do share other scenarios because people should see all the things that are happening. Two things can be true at the same time. I was just saying that there isn't a guarantee that it will "shake loose" the 751 as quickly as it has for others at other service centers. @Rocio0010 is an example. When she compares her case to the January 2022 751 filers and N400 January/February 2023 from across VJ (some that are at the exact same service center and FO as hers BTW), she has seen others move and hers hasn't.
  8. Hello! Orlando, FL user here. So, the CBP at MCO is 50/50, it depends on who you get, etc. Some just do their thing and move on, others try intimidation tactics. I would just be truthful but concise on what they ask. Don't be rude, but also don't let their intimidation get you to a point were you overshare for them to question you even more. I am the USC, but I used to travel a lot solo as female to South America and I am Hispanic, so sometimes I would pass through normal and other times I would be asked a few questions. I just learned from reading before my travels to look them back in their eyes, be truthful and concise, but don't overshare. Now, I do not know how things are right now, especially with the new law that is happening in Florida. My suggestion would be to just read, know your rights, what you are supposed to and not supposed to be doing in your situation, etc. That way, if they ask or they challenge you out of ignorance (people just don't get immigration) you can state your situation AND let them know you are allowed because of XYZ. However, as always be respectful, attitude will get you nowhere (not that you would have one, just giving you advice).
  9. Example on why we are hesitant to apply for N400 right at the one year mark of our 751:
  10. Yes, I was not suggesting the OP to do what we did. I was just answering the question as to whether or not it was a requirement for the K1 versus the AOS. Hence, why I also mentioned we had to re-do the medical.
  11. @KalTam and @Sha-Lee88 Like @Chancy said, you have to check with your local embassy/consulate. For example, @Patcor is in Lima, Peru, so they should go here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/LMA-Lima.html https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/K1/LMA-Lima-073119.pdf I don't know your specific countries, but you can go to the same website and look for your city and country and a similar page will appear. Likewise, there are portals for country specific help here on VJ.
  12. You can apply online, even if you are using the 90-days window. However, please keep in mind that the computers with USCIS sometimes are in Pacific Time. Thus, a lot of people apply a few days into the 90-day window just to be sure. In other words, my husband's window for N400 will open on 09/09/2023. If we were to apply, we would probably apply around 09/11/2023 at the earliest just to make sure all the computers and systems as past any hours and the date of 09/09/2023. Otherwise, we could run the risk of getting denied because of submitting it too early (according to the computer). I hope that makes sense.
  13. Things might have changed since then, but back in 2019 when my husband went for his medical for the K1, he brought the vaccinations he had up to that point. Then, the USCIS-approved civil surgeon listed what he needed and proceeded to ask him whether he wanted them as part of the medical or when he got to USA. He decided to get them here. They made him sign the medical forms indicating that he was choosing not to do them in Argentina but that he was aware they were a requirement for the AOS. So, he got the medical to be able to get the K1 and enter USA. However, we then had to re-do the medical here to get the vaccinations, etc. So, just FYI.
  14. Please see this: https://www.uscis.gov/tools/designated-civil-surgeons/vaccination-requirements The USCIS approved civil surgeon in your country can also let you know which ones are required as part of the K1 before it is issued versus the ones you can complete in USA prior to AOS.
  15. As others have said, there are many factors than just the "what's the faster way". In the end, it is your decision, which you have to make with your partner together and consider everything that is involved. We are K1-ers from when K1 was "faster". However, we still considered the CR1 route. At the time, we just went with the K1 because we had other factors that it just made sense for him to get here sooner, and we had things he could be doing/I needed help with while waiting on the AOS approval, etc. However, as others have pointed out, you have to consider your partner's current life there versus the waiting time here without being able to move on with his/her life if you go with a K1. In my opinion, the K1 and CR1 are taking about the same to get approved nowadays, so it just makes sense to go the CR1 route for them to get the GC and enter the US ready to just start a new life without the "I am in the USA but I am stuck and I cannot do much". For many people and marriages, this season is the most challenging because not a lot of people can handle the inactivity as far as productivity goes, the loneliness of being by themselves while the USC has to go to work, the having to be so dependent on another person to maneuver around this new country, the USC having someone that is so dependent on them, etc. We were blessed that none of these were as challenging to us (and we had the pandemic six months into our marriage), but it was mainly because we talked about it and being aware of it allowed us to just plan for it or handle it better.
  16. Please see this: https://www.visapro.com/resources/article/financial-affidavit-of-support/
  17. Sadly, not for us yet. Nope. NADA. I have done some research and it is normal, especially in Potomac. They have cases that they apply the fingerprints within a month and others that don't hear about it and just get their interviews or approvals. I used the app to search for cases and it appears they stopped applying biometrics on 751s some time in July 2022 to focus on something else. LOL
  18. Not for me. I have sent about 7 inquiries and close to 10 chats without success. Not going to keep trying, just living my life. Otherwise, I will be more annoyed.
  19. I do not know nowadays. You can always write the embassy an e-mail.
  20. Sadly, you are still within a reasonable waiting period. For us, our K1 it took about a month from NVC news to Buenos Aires news, and that was back in 2019 pre-pandemic.
  21. It means your case has been transferred from the NVC at USA to the USA embassy/consulate in Lima, Peru. You need to check your e-mail often, since this is the main form of communication the embassy will use to send you the next steps. I would suggest you go here on VJ into the Peru portal to ask for further assistance AND look at the guide for K1s.
  22. @DesperateHouseWif What Chancy said. You need to wait to get the e-mail. Make sure you check your spam and junk folders and add the e-mail address I provided as an authorized e-mail in your e-mail provided (GMAIL, YAHOO, etc.). They are likely to tell you the details on what they need from you next and the steps. But, it will depend on the local consulate and not USCIS. At this point, USCIS will not have a true window of time or accurate information as to what is happening.
  23. Thank you for keeping us posted! Hopefully it is good news! It sounds like your case was transferred to the local office.
  24. As others have said, if you have them, bring a couple of them. If you are not the type of couple that takes pictures, do not fabricate them. It is just one of those things that if you have it, bring it, but do not go out of your way to get them, since there is a 50/50 chance - it depends on the officer - that you will be asked for them. If you are the type that takes lots of pictures, do not overdo it either. Be mindful of what you are trying to say with the pictures and how you are supporting your case/story. This is one of those things that both things can be true at once (officer will ask for pictures/officer will not ask for pictures) and none of us can tell you exactly what will happen except our personal experiences. I always tell people (besides including the obvious evidence and the ones that have a lot of weight), you know your case, what you feel can help you, and what brings you peace of mind. There are people that feel comfortable with a lot and others with less - it will depend on you. I have seen people on VJ that almost invite the officer to their bedroom and TMI while others have sent less than the minimum and both extremes have gotten results across the spectrum (approved/RFE/rejected).
  25. Also, this. Pictures are only to compliment your evidence - they do not have enough weight on their own.
