With USCIS, I would sign up for all the channels in which they can notify you. I have seen it too many times where the case status is updated in one faster than the other - never a clear pattern. Better to have "extra" communication.

Yes, it is called the I-131 Travel Document. Here is the link: https://www.uscis.gov/i-131 Did you not apply for this when you did the AOS? Normally, people submit AOS/EAD/AP together to get the Employment Authorization (EAD) and AP (Advance Parole/Travel Document) while they wait for the GC, especially now that it is taking longer. If you only did the I-485, I would suggest you to the I-131 and I-765 (https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-processes-and-procedures/employment-authorization-document), so you can be able to work and travel while your I-485 AOS/GC is being processed. If you visit the USCIS website, it will tell you how long each of those are taking depending on the office you end up with. (https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/) You can also check the approval estimates in VJ. (https://www.visajourney.com/times/) You can travel to any country that allows a US passport to enter without a visa. Essentially, the travel document and your original passport become a version of a US passport when combined. It will not affect your GC in any way, especially since it is common and recommended to submit all three. Usually, it is better to do them around the same time. We hope that helps!

I believe you can apply for yourself, even if they show up as dependents. They are not the ones requesting it. I know each state has different rules and regulations sometimes, so I would check with your local office.

Hiii! Please check all the other threads for the other months as there is plenty of information in them. You don't need the USC's passport or birth certificate. The I-751 is for the LPR to apply to remove conditions. Thus, the LPR is the actual "petitioner" in ROC. The information that you need to include from your spouse (USC) are things that would confirm the marriage, financial comingling, and proof of living together. You also don't need the LPR's passport either. Just trying to save you time/space/money. If you have any questions, let us know. I believe there are plenty of people that have shared their cover letters, and we also have ours. I will try to find all of those and share.

Yeah, you know your state better. Of course you can always try it, but that will be a personal decision. It is just sad that this is not part of their training. Not that they need to know immigration processes, but at least they should know a GC and what to do with it.

It will depend on your state and the knowledge of the DMV. For example, I have read on VJ there are lots of people in other states that get the ID or license without issues, but with an expiration date based on the GC. So, if the rep understands the extension you might be able to get it and it will be valid for the two years of the letter. Other states are so clueless they just don’t do it at all with or without a non-expired GC. We live in Florida and they are so used to immigration that my husband got his license with a normal expiration date (10 years), so I was glad for that. But, he got his license with the GC before it expires - same with updating the SSN.

I don’t think it does. The “Case Received” is the status of them letting you know they mailed you the i797, which is your extension letter. The next thing should be biometrics. However, we haven’t gotten that one. I have heard from others that it can take up to six months. We will see.

Got the new SSN card without the restrictions. Now, if USCIS could just take care of the biometrics….

Just chatted with a third rep that gave me the canned answer that I will get a notification via mail regarding whether or not an appointment is needed or they will waive it. No kidding Sherlock.

This is some BS from USCIS. I spoke to two different reps via chat after sending the inquiry on 11/09 and both did nothing. That I had to wait. Still no response on the inquiry either. SMH. I guess it worked better for you! Glad you got movement.

Anyone with updates on submitting inquiries for biometrics? Our 30 days of the inquiry will be December 9th. If no response or action, we will send one on the 10th. Going on 70 days since they received the case without a word on the biometrics appointment.
