It is a personal preference and only you can decide that. Some people don’t worry because they do not have a need or cannot afford to travel internationally. Others do not do it to avoid worrying about it. Others do it and just risk it. Then, I am sure there are people like us where if we need to travel internationally more than 10 days, we would pay for insurance to have peace of mind.

Just documenting this. We reached out to USCIS again (probably the 8th time by now) regarding biometrics. We got the same canned answer. So, this whole thing that "inquiries and reaching out to USCIS" yields biometrics is unlikely to work - at least for those at YSC.

We filed in September 2022 and we have not heard anything on biometrics. Even submitted inquiries like everyone suggested without any movement.

File now or wait??
Fe.Ta replied to HKH12345's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
I am giving you the advice based on my experience. I inherited my parents’ house before I ever got married. When my husband and I got married, we decided to stay here so we could take care of my parents. We have no lease and mortgage - ever. We sent everything you have - except the child certificate because we do not have children. To me, it appears your case is strong enough to submit with what you have now and then have the second birth certificate for the next round. To establish the cohabitation further, you can include copies of DLs or IDs where it clearly shows you both live at the same address. Also, other things like your taxes, bills, etc. are likely to show the shared address. Other than that, most of your evidence seems solid AND you already have proof of one child together. From my POV, it is not worth risking a late submission over waiting on a second birth certificate that you can submit later. For starters, a lot goes on near a birth and you don’t want to feel overwhelmed. As others have said, the ROC takes a while to get looked at. -
All centers right now are slow. Potomac is the worse. California is good, so you should be on track, but still within a year. We do not keep the letter or GC at this point. He has his driver’s license that is good for 10 years just like mine, so there is no need on the daily to be carrying that. Obviously, we do have it handy for things like work, etc. But, we didn’t want to lose it. I don’t carry my passport with me, so if someone were to ask me my status, I would still need to go home and get it. LOL. We live in Florida, so it is unlikely for him to run into an issue where the DL is not good enough. However, I could see how it would be more prudent to carry it with you in other states.

Yes, the first biometrics we did for AOS was within weeks of the NOA. But, not for ROC, and it seems it is common if you are in Potomac. Our NOA case number is YSC, which is Potomac. While biometrics is scheduled by the local office (Orlando), they do not know to schedule something unless they are notified by Potomac. I doubt Potomac has looked at my case. The have submissions from 2020 is still waiting on decisions - highly unlikely they will prioritize our biometrics over that. LOL

And hide all sharp objects. Haha Don’t worry, if you act rapidly (tomorrow), it can be fixed. -

I am sure you do. I would feel the same way. But, if you have him do all of this tomorrow, you should be OK. Make sure he brings the letter, ID, etc. -

I am sure they have. I would try the walk-in, but arrive first thing in the morning. Explain the situation and see if it works. If it doesn’t, then call or chat USCIS to re-schedule. But, make sure you do all these things tomorrow. A missed biometrics appointment can be taken by USCIS as if you are “abandoning” the case and they could reject it accordingly. -

You need to contact USCIS ASAP to re-schedule. IDK if they will take him as a walk-in. But, he can try? -

We received the 48-months extension. Still in for the long haul, but glad we don’t have to worry about the stamp for now.

Obviously, there are a lot of ways of going about withholding and paying taxes. My main point was for the OP to be aware that the most important thing is to declare all income and pay taxes accordingly, which will be important for citizenship. Additionally, if the GC is employment-based, there are other factors than what I answered, since in our case it was marriage-based. Likewise, yes, there are non-competitive agreements that he/she may have signed. Again, the post was not to answer ALL the things, but merely whether it was legal or not.

It is legal to work however many jobs - as long as you declare them in your taxes accordingly. No, it won't affect your US citizenship - as long as you declare them in your taxes and pay the taxes on both. Unsolicited advice: Make sure you fill out the W4 accordingly so at least employer B can withhold taxes based on multiple jobs - or not (is up to you). Just know that when you go to fill out your taxes for 2023, and declare all your your jobs (and your spouse's), you might owe more taxes than what you think because not enough was withheld. Whatever you decide on the W4s, and whether or not you opt for more taxes withheld, the important thing will just be that you will need to declare all jobs and income in your taxes and pay them accordingly - doing this properly is important when applying for US citizenship.

Here is one from 2020 from London: I am sure you can do a search and find more.
