thanks guys.... but the greencard expires on Jan. 30 of this month.... what should we do if we don't get anything back before the expiration date?

Hi all,

We filed the I-751 for my wife and it was accepted at the CSC on Jan. 4, 2010.

I still haven't received any info. as of today.

The problem is that her greencard expires on Jan. 30, 2010....

what do we do if we don't hear anything before her GC expires? Can we go somewhere to get an extension?

Is this the "stamp" that everyone is taking about? Can she travel with this?

Also, the CR-1 visa says : "upon endorsement serves as a temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 year"

and just a little lesson that we learned about picking up the passport...

MAKE SURE you take COPIES of the VFS COURIER FEE RECEIPT (not just the checklist of submitted items), AND a copy of the INTERVIEW LETTER.

they took my wife's originals during the interview and forgot to return them...

She had to fax in a copy of her passport and birth certi. as she stood at the VFS asking for her passport.

They made an exception, but don't take any chances.

Just wanted to let you know that my wife's VISA WAS GRANTED !!!

the passport was picked up the same day also.

Does immigration at the POE if you any other documents (besides I-551 stamp) that proves/shows you are a legal permanent resident?

Can she enter the US and then go back with me after a few days even though she doesn't have the actual greencard in hand?

Also, how long can she stay out of the country as long as she is with me?

my wife's interview is coming up soon, and she is worried about what language the interview can be conducted in...

her english isn't that good, but she speaks gujarati and hindi fluently.

are the interviews in english only, or do they have interpretors ?
