  1. It can be. The appointment system is automated and doesn't care about your convenience. If you get your appointment letter before her appointment and it's a later date you can use it and try if they'll let you do your biometrics as well. But you need an appointment letter yourself to do so.
  2. Get a letter from his command describing the situation and not just a manual print out. Admin can take care of it. I did my adjustment interview alone but my husband was deployed and not just TDY so that's different.
  3. It's a hit or miss if you'll get an email/text. If you don't have your real NOA1 in the mail by the end of the month, that's when you can start to inquire with USCIS.
  4. I second the idea of an attorney. Not because I think that your case needs one but because you might tend to overshare and volunteer information that is not asked for 😉 don't get me wrong, honesty is important but every piece of information you give the IO can lead to follow up questions that otherwise wouldn't have been asked. An attorney can work with you and prep you for that interview to make it easier and straightforward.
  5. The faster you wrap it up the better. While she can stay out of the country up to a bit under a year she'll have to deal with less scrutiny when coming back if y'all keep it a bit under 6 months. So embassy was speaking in legal terms while the border agent was speaking in experience how they handle things terms.
  6. https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx They're probably interested in the status after the interview
  7. Ask Mississippi where they print a very visible 'non- us citizen' on the license and only renew it for a year 😁
  8. Not if they're married first and he only marries somebody else after.
  9. It depends on your state if they require witnesses. If they do it can be anybody. Doesn't need to be family. Pay somebody in the parking lot $5 to witness if needed. You'll file I-485 and I-864, I-131 and I-765. Follow the guide that was posted by somebody right in the beginning.
  10. Ok here's the plan. January 2nd is a federal holiday so nothing will happen on Monday. Tuesday morning you start your day at the SSA office to apply for your SSN. You'll need your passport, birth certificate and the I-94 that you can print out online. After that you go to the county clerk to apply for the marriage license. You'll need your passport and birth certificate ( your local clerk should have information about what exactly is needed online). They'll also tell you if there's a waiting period and where to go/ call to ask when a judge is available to get you married at court. Also ask the clerk how long it will take to get your marriage certificate. Sometimes the judge will hand you the paperwork and you can bring it back to the clerk in person. They can instantly get you certified copies before sending everything in. Ask for about five copies so you have enough on hand.
  11. You need to talk to the lawyers about it. We can't help you if you don't even know what visa he applied for and probably also don't know at which stage he is. There are ways to expedite but to be able to help you we would need more information.
  12. Yea that simply doesn't work since you don't have a base yet to file it.
  13. What are you trying to do? Get a tourist visa to be able to visit while waiting for the K1 to process? That you can of course try.
  14. OP hasn't been online since Wednesday. Hope they come back in the new year to update us.
  15. I found this. Super old but best I could find. Maybe what OP got was only an explanation that they gonna check his request for a refund and not an actual 'refund approved, expect your money in x days'. https://www.dhs.gov/uscis-refunds-how-process-working-you-questions-cis-ombudsmans-teleconference-january-31-2008 OP you can see, we're all baffled 😁
  16. Isn't it that only traffic violations over $500 fine have to be mentioned?
  17. You'll get a recipe notice with your case number. That number is what you need to track your case. You'll also get a letter with your biometrics appointment. These are the two things that will happen soon and then nothing for many months. I hope you also filed for AP in case you need to travel at some point during the wait.
  18. Field offices do take certain applications so it's not a complete no-go. Don't get me wrong I'm super surprised too about how this story evolves but it's pretty interesting.
  19. I usually would say that will only happen when hell freezes over but it was pretty cold the last weekend soooo... 😉
