  1. This is what I just found at Philippine Embassy Washington DC website: 6. WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS ON PAYMENT OF INCOME TAXES? Under the Philippine Comprehensive Tax Reform Program of 1997, incomes earned overseas by Filipinos from 1998 onwards are no longer taxable by the Philippine government. Hence, all Filipinos abroad, including those who have retained/reacquired their Philippine citizenship, have been exempted by the Philippine Government from paying Philippine income tax on incomes earned abroad. Incomes earned in the Philippines, however, will be subject to Philippine income tax. Prospective applicants are advised to visit and read the contents of the website of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, which contains information about current U.S. government policy on taxes on incomes earned worldwide, or to seek legal advice from a U.S. tax lawyer.
  2. Do dual citizens (Philippines and US) have to pay taxes in the Philippines on income earned in the United States? I'm asking because my mother told me that "someone from BIR" came to her house with an envelope and asked for me, but she refused to accept it and told him that I no longer live there, which is correct. I don't believe I owe BIR taxes; my last employment in the Philippines was in January 2010, and I paid taxes religiously while there. Anyone?
  3. Oh, what a relief! Thank you for responding so quickly. I'll let her know.
  4. Moderators, I wasn't sure where to post this so please direct me to the right forum if not here. Thanks. My sister is in Luxembourg for training until May 31st and unfortunately her purse with her passport, IDs, cash and cards was stolen from the hotel's restaurant where she is staying. She filed a police report and her company is helping her financially and I send her instant noodles and canned goods through Amazon. She needs to renew her passport or apply for a travel document but the Philippine embassy where she's at is permanently closed and the closest is in Brussels. My question is.. she does not have a passport; she has a copy of her old passport with her visa, the original copy of police report (that needs to be translated in English), letter from her company saying she's under their sponsorship, passport photos, and a confirmed appointment letter for passport application..is this enough to cross the border? I have no idea how borders in Europe works that's why I'm asking. Is there anyone here who had the same experience? Please help.
  5. Hi there. So, we don't need the waiver if we leave the Philippines on a US passport, correct?
  6. Great! Thank you. And thank you for mentioning the tax waiver. I hope I won't forget it this year because I totally forgot about that last time we went in 2018.
  7. Thank you. I didn't have any issue when I went to Dubai and Hongkong when I was single in 2000's. I actually didn't know about offloading that time. I just heard about it recently in social media and went into panic mode because we invested so much for this upcoming trip. Thank you for responding.
  8. Hello. We are going to Manila on vacation in June-July for 6 weeks. My kids and I will get there first and my husband will follow. Then we are going to South Korea with my sister (2 days after my kids and I land) and my husband and I will go to Bali 4 days after he arrive. My question is..is 'offloading' only for Philippine passport holders? I have both Philippines and US passport as well as my kids but intend to just use the US passport when we touchdown Manila and departure to Korea and Indonesia. Will this be questionable for IOs for US passport holders leaving the Philippines within 15 days and return? I am just so paranoid about this offloading issues at the airport immigration I came across in social media. Our flights, hotels and tours are already booked and do not want to lose money because of power tripping IOs. I'm not sure if using my Philippine passport on arrivals and US passport on departures will make a difference. What do you guys think? Thanks for your input.
