Hello,
My son and daughter in law have just received notice of their upcoming interview for her AOS. My son lost his job and has been offered another great one that requires security clearance...which takes quite a while. In the mean time, he has accepted a part time position that starts in the middle of January. They are supposed to bring two pay stubs in addition to his previous tax returns. However, he doesn't have pay stubs since he has been out of work for the last little while. He can show the offer letter from the job that requires the clearance and he can show a letter from the part time position that he will start the middle of January. He will not have two pay stubs by the time of the interview. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Also, my mom (who is retired) has offered to co sponsor. Should they prepared with paperwork for her to co sponsor in case?
Thanks so much for your help!

My son and daughter in law just received notification that they will receive a request for evidence letter in the next week or two. We are assuming that it is probably financial support evidence. How long do they give you before you need to submit the information?
Thanks.

You can hold on to it as long as you want but try to get it done before the expiration date on the NOA2 if you need more time the embassy can extend it twice but you would have to give them a valid reason. A month should be ok to hold it but I wouldnt go farther than that. If you wait a month to do packet 3 it will be another month until your interview so it will be like 2 months anyways.
Thank you!

Does anyone know how long the applicant has to return packet three to the consulate? In other words, does it have to be returned in a specific amount of time or can they hang on to it for a month or two while my son gets a new job?
Thanks!

Thank you. So then the timing thing becomes important in terms his ability to get a job before that for is required. Is that form due at the time of the interview or prior?

My son is sponsoring his fiance from Thailand and no longer has a job. He is currently interviewing for a new one, but it is taking time and he is concerned about the affidavit of support. The petition has been approved and is now on it's way to the NVC. Is his tax return from the 2018 (and prior years as well) what they will want to see or does he need to show proof that he currently is employed? Also, does anyone know how it takes once the NVC gets the paperwork for the consulate in Thailand to schedule an the interview? How much time in advance do they schedule the interview?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for you response. I assume that my mom as a cosponsor should complete a separate I-864...is that correct? Should my complete a new I-864 with the new job information instead of the one that was submitted with the K-1 visa? As a co sponsor, does my mom need to attend the interview?
