Status Change YAY! As of Feb 5, 2024: New card is being produced. Looks like the whole process will end up taking 22 or so months. -
May 2022 here. Got the 48mo extension letter earlier this year (2023). On a side note, we've traveled internationally a few times with the extension letter. We were never refused boarding or had any problems with with CBP. Although we did get held up a few times when checking in to our flights because the airline had an old version of the I-797 as reference.

When we requested a transfer from China to Japan we had to prove my wife was a resident in Japan before the the embasy in Japan agreed to take it. I also had to get the help of our Representative's office involved to push the trasfer along. -

Turns out the letter was for a biometrics appointment. The appointmeent wasn't too far out from the NOA date. However, I had to reschedule since we're still traving. Rescheduling online wasn't difficut to do at all. Trying to call the number on the NOA was a painful automated mess. The MyUSCIS and case status website still show the case was transfered as the last action. -

Nope. It says the same thing it said last year. Maybe it’ll update in a few days. We asked the neighbor to check our mail and let us know. but, site isn’t working for me at the moment so maybe USCIS fixing it for me 😃 -

Informed Delivery shows I got a letter from USCIS today. It’s probably a coincidence that we got a letter a few days after getting back to the US. The problem is I don’t if it’s good news or bad news since we’re out traveling for a few more weeks. The myUSCIS site isn’t showing any update from a year ago. Hopefully it is good thing. just posting so others know there’s some more movement with the May cases. 😃 -
Japan K-1 visa: moving company recommendations
Scott001 replied to freakinhippie's topic in Asia: East and Pacific
When my wife moved we boxed up and maild most things by boat using JP Post. The other, more important, items we packed and brought them on the plane. (maxing out the size restriction). I know this post is about 4mo late so if it can't help you, hopefully it can help someone else. -
If your case is anyhting like mine, you'll be waiting a good while. It's going on 16 months since I applied with no movement. Check the USCIS site you can find out the current processsing times. If your traveling out of the country with an expired GC just bring the extention letter with you and there shouldn't be any problems. We jsut got back from overseas and didn't have any problems coming back to the US.

Happy 1 year anaversy (month) to all those still waiting for USCIS. 🎂 Next week my application will be 1 year old. The last action, a transfer, was in July 2022. -
We had kind of simmilar experiance requesting an interview change. My wife is from China but was a perm resident of Japan at the time. She lived and worked in Japan and took a temp assignment in China at the time of the I-130 filing. We requested Japan however, Per USCIS, she was resinding in China at the time so her case was assigned to Shanghai. After geeting the run around from USCIS, NVC, and Shanghai consulate we had to get our State Rep's and Senator's office involved. Eventually we were able to get our case transfered to Japan. TLDR: you'll get the run arround trying to transfer your case. If you hit a wall you'll probably need to get your State Reps involved. I got my House and Senate Rep's offic einvolved. It was pretty easy to contact and they usually have staff to assist with immigration problems. If you're from a larger state it might be a little different.

My wife spent about 6 months in China and didn't have any problems when she came back. She was on the 2 year green card at the time. -

I"ve had that problem for about a month now. But I guess since it'll probably take another year for my case to be processed, maybe the system will be fixed before there's an actual update. -

Since I can't edit my post anymore I have to make a new one. Sorry for spaming it up today. After browsing the last few pages of other I-751 filer threads it looks like USCIS sent a ton of the 48 month extension letters out recently. -

Just got an NOA today. Was hoping it was for an Interview or biometrics but nope. It was a 48 month extension letter. But on the bright side, I know for sure the case was transfered to the National Benifits Center. Heres to hoping it doesn't actully take 4 years.
