  1. I had my combo interview this morning in San Francisco office. It lasted 25 minutes or less. We were invited by an officer in time, no delays. At first, she went through our I-751 form asking questions about everything that we put there, no additional questions about our relationship. She also didn't ask for any documents. At the end of the application she told us that we signed it wrong. I originally signed it as a petitioner and my husband signed it as a beneficiary but she said it's not the right away and gave us a red pen to resign it next to our original signatures and put a new date on it. Then, she asked for my husband to leave and started a citizenship interview which I passed. She let me sign docs on a tablet regarding how my information is going to be displayed on a naturalization certificate. At the end though she said Congratulations, and gave me a paper saying that 'Decision can't be made' instead of 'Recommended for approval'. She said it's because of I-751, and that next steps will probably be scheduling an Oath ceremony. I'm a little confused because I double checked after the interview and it looks like we originally signed it correctly, that I am a petitioner for I-751. Or did I get it wrong? I'm a little nervous because of 'Decision can't be made' thing, especially given that she didn't ask me to provide any docs out of a 10-pounder that I printed and brought with me. My statuses still show "Interview was scheduled" for both N-400 and I-751.
  2. Yeah, not the best time to demonstrate political knowledge 😆 Thank you!
  3. Hey guys! I wanted to double check with you before my interview tomorrow. As of now, a temporary speaker of the house is Patrick McHenry, correct? There's so much going on with that race, I want to nail that question if I get it
  4. Wohoo! Congratulations You're already half done with the process. It's awesome that they've approved your I-751 without making it a combo! Ideally, you get your card in a few days and your actual N-400 interview is easy-peasy. I also have mine scheduled for the day after tomorrow. I had a slightly different sequence though because my I-751 was transferred to a new office around the same time I went in for biometrics (the status also changed twice). Before my interview was scheduled last month I also first got an update on I-751 saying that 'Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview', and then 'Interview was scheduled' for both I-751 and N-400. So in my case it's for sure going to be a combo. I received two interview notices by mail.
  5. In my case I filed on February 11th this year, and my interview is this upcoming Wednesday. But it's different for every local office. San Francisco takes longer for cases that have a pending I-751.
  6. I'm going in for my combo I-751/N-400 interview next week, and I have two almost identical packages for both. The only difference is we changed our car since filing I-751, so I didn't include the co-loan of that car into my N-400. Instead, included the new car which is more relevant at this point. But yeah, both packages include evidence since 2019. Given how unpredictable USCIS I think it's better to be safe than sorry.
  7. Thank you! Yeah, I'm adding things to my I-751 to reflect all the changes to present day. Did you bring copies of both of your drivers licenses? I never thought that those are required.
  8. Hey guys, I'm going in for a I-751 and N-400 combo next month, and I wanted to have your opinions on my paperwork package. I had a pretty unpleasant interview for the first green card, and after that experience I'm probably more nervous about getting interviewed again than I should be. At the time of my first interview I was in my 3d trimester of pregnancy, and an officer kept asking my husband if he was sure the baby was his. Not a single question about our relationship timeline. I'm sure this interview will be different as our son is 3 yo now but because I don't have an experience of a "normal" relationship-focused interview I'm really nervous. Here's what I have so far in terms of proof (not including copies of all sorts of IDs). Since my RoC has been pending for almost 2 years my N-400 and I-751 contents for the most part overlap. - Marriage license - Birth Certificate of our son - Divorce Certificate for my previous marriage Financial: - Tax return transcripts for 2019-2022 filed jointly - Joint rent agreements for 4 properties from 2019 to present - Transaction history over the years for 4 different joint bank accounts, investment and credit included - 2 joint car loans - My life insurance stating my husband as a beneficiary - My husband's life insurance stating me as a beneficiary Other: - 2 car registrations with both of our names on it - Insurance for 2 cars with both of our names on it - Medical insurance cards for all three of us through my husband's employer - Apple Family Sharing Plan - Document that states my husband as a legacy contact to access all my digital data in the event of death with an access key - Same document that states me as a legacy contact for my husband's digital data - Amazon Household Plan - Google-Fi Family Plan - Netflix Family Account - Copies of plane tickets from 2 trips we took with our son - Photos I don't have utility bills under both of our names because I never thought it was important. Also, if you could think of any tricky questions they might ask us based on my package, please let me know. When I read topics where someone gets asked about breakfast a day before and what their partner was wearing, I do get nervous because our family life is pretty chaotic and we don't focus on these tiny things. Breakfast is usually on the go while we get ready for work and get our son ready etc. My husband definitely won't remember things like what I was wearing the night before because our brains are in a permanently exhausted state and don't register these things.
  9. Cases that were filed between October 2021 and first half of 2022 were sucked into a black hole. Regardless how you organize your package you already have better chances of getting some actionable response from USCIS within a year As much as we like to think there's any control over how cases are being processed, there really is none.
  10. I don't think there's a yes or no answer to your question because it depends. I've been waiting for my I-751 approval since November 2021. Filed N-400 in February this year, and I just last week finally got invited for the interview. My local office here in San Francisco takes 8-14 months to schedule an interview for those who filed with a pending I-751. Others who file without it or under a 5 year rule can take as little as 2-3 months. Go figure why 😆 But my end goal is citizenship that's why I'm glad I filed it. The only thing I regret is filing 4 months later than my window was open. I could have already been done with this process. Also, I did include a letter requesting a combo interview with my N-400 like @OldUser was saying. When my interview was scheduled last week both I-751 and N-400 changed their status to "Interview was scheduled". I know sometimes it only happens to N-400 case and then they see I-751 in the system and do a combo anyway. I don't know if it guarantees that an officer is going to have my I-751 in hand the day of my interview but for the very least I know it's for sure a combo.
  11. Finally got my interview scheduled for both I-751 and N-400. I feel like my timeline is quite good for San Francisco office, I was prepared to wait for longer.
  12. Thankfully, an hour later I got another status update that interview for both cases were scheduled! I could see in my USCIS account that it's October 25th for my N-400, but I assume it's going to be a combo in one day. I included a letter-request in my documents for N-400 asking for it to be a combo. I know I will only be fully relieved once it's all over but I'm just glad it's one step closer.
  13. So I got a status change for my I-751 today, Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview 😅 Funnily enough, it’s also the first day of when I can send an electronic request for things taking forever. Do you guys think it means anything? My N-400 is still at Case is being actively reviewed. I’m so sick of their useless statuses.
  14. What's your local office for N-400? I'm also still waiting on both. My N-400 though gives me 3 more months estimate according to San Francisco processing times. But it might as well take longer as I saw cases where interview was scheduled several months after estimate's date.
  15. Ugh San Francisco office is so unreasonably slow. I'm 2 months behind you, filed in February this year. I really hope we get invited for an interview sometime this year 🤪
  16. Hang in there, you aren't alone. My receipt date is February 11th, San Francisco office. It looks like NorCal offices are really taking their time, especially if you apply with a pending I-751. I know Sacramento is slow, too.
  17. Omg I'm so happy for you!!! Congratulations!!! ❤️ It's been long overdue for you. I hope you already got your card in the mail. As @Elena & Craig said, I'm also still waiting on both cases. USCIS website gives me 4 months estimate for N-400, but I don't think it means anything since @Elena & Craig's estimate is already way overdue and we're being processed in the same San Francisco office. It says I can ping USCIS in the end of October about my I-751 taking longer than normal but I doubt it will result into any movement. My husband and I want to move to Los Angeles next summer so hopefully I'll get approved by then 😵‍💫 😂
  18. Thank you! Just tried it. I think you got lucky with an agent you spoke to. Mine just gave me a link to processing times and said she can't see any specific information on upcoming interviews.
  19. Congratulations! :) How did you get Emma to tell you this information? Every time I tried it would just give me links to check case status etc. instead of expanding on anything I ask.
  20. Often filing N-400 doesn't really do anything for I-751 till the actual N-400 interview. Not sure if you can withdraw it at that point. In my case, I filed N-400 6 months ago and my I-751 was transferred to NBC a month later and that's it. I don't see it being approved till I'm talking to an officer regarding my N-400.
  21. I'm sorry your interview got de-scheduled! This happened to my friend in Vegas, too. They canceled it a day before the interview saying they were still waiting to receive her I-751. It was rescheduled a month after that original cancelation. But her I-751 was still not approved when they scheduled it again so I it might be just them needing to have a file on hand before scheduling a combo interview which is common for N-400 filers in this situation. From what I've seen after you file N-400 with a pending I-751 chances to have your I-751 approved separately are very low, especially if the case gets transferred to NBC.
  22. That's something I just saw that you also have a pending I-751. It seems like most folks who didn't have it approved at the time of filing N-400 have to wait longer in our offices. No idea why. Nearly everyone I see being scheduled faster either had it approved before filing either filed under a 5 year rule.
  23. It seems to be pretty common in Sacramento/SF offices. Very annoying for sure. I hope you get scheduled soon! What's your current estimate?
