Interview - missing documents
marescarcha replied to marescarcha's topic in Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America
Update: they updated today but it still says refused. I am worried!!! -
Hello everyone! my mom had her interview in the Bogota embassy on 7/31. Everything went well but somehow my mom forgot my original birth certificate…. So they kept her passport and asked her to mail the original certificate to an address. She did it the same day. On 8/5 she got an email that said: “The documents you delivered to the service center at BOGOTA ASC have been received and will be forwarded to the U.S. Consular Section for processing.” However I’m not sure if the consular has the documents already. if I check her status on CEAC it says refused since 7/31 and no updates yet. Anyone had similar experiences? How long can it take for them to make a decision? Thanks!

Hello everyone! my mom had her interview on 7/31. Everything went fine but they requested my original birth certificate which we sent the next day. They kept her passport. she got an email 3 days ago that they got the document. How long can it take for her to have her passport back? I check the CEAC and the USCIS website but I can’t find anything. How can we know that it was approved and mailed back? thanks

Hello Everyone I think I am about to freak out. I am in the process of bringing my mom to the USA. we have completed all steps and she has her interview next week. She has her medical exam tomorrow and biometrics the next day. I just got an email from the Bogota embassy saying that my case is incomplete. That the NVC is missing some documents. It mentions my birth certificate (I was born in Colombia, but I have US citizenship as well) with my name change (I changed my name when I became a US citizen, I have not changed my name in Colombia). And it says that is missing my moms original divorce certificate (which I already uploaded months ago and was approved). Can I upload more documents to the CEAC website a week before the interview? I am affraid of uploading something and then be in trouble. The email mentions to upload them and to bring them to the interview. My mom has lots of documents and their translations to English: birth certificates, marriages including mine, her divorce, my passport (copy), my naturalization w name change, etc etc etc.... I need some help.. Thanks I am dreading all this process!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom's timeline: I filled on 01/09/23 approved 01/09/24 interview: next week.

Hello everyone, my mom has her interview at the end of the month and we are getting all documents ready. I am the petitioner and it is only my mom who is being petitioned. For the interview at the embassy does she need the birth certificates of my siblings as well? "Original or certified copies of birth certificates for all children of the principal applicant (even if he or she is not accompanying)."

Hello Everyone!! 1. I just got all my documents approved on the https://ceac.state.gov/IV website. They are now setting an interview date. How long does it take on average... just an average. 2. I have no received any information about medical examinations for my mom... Are they going to email me about it? or how does it work? Thanks!

marescarcha replied to marescarcha's topic in Bringing Family Members of US Citizens to America
Hello everyone! I am 34 and back in college. I am also a stay at home mom I do not have income. When I fill the form i864, I guess I have to put an income of $0.0. However, my husband is going to be the sponsor (we are well over the poverty line). We fill our taxes as a married couple of course. I am having troble with that form. what should I do for part 6? I am a stay at home mom to my children. I do not know what option to pick. I appreciate feedback about how to properly fill de I864 for people who can relate to my case. I can find insurance for my mom, luckily she is healthy! Thanks -

Thanks for your help, so my husband does not need to fill a i-864A right? -
Hello everyone, I guess this has been asked before, but I do not know how to look for it. I am a stay at home mom and I do not work. I am a US citizen and I am in the process of bringing my mom to the USA. I am in the process of: Affidavit of Support (AOS) Documents. I need to submit my tax return (which I fill jointly with my husband) and the AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT FORM. The question is which form do I need to fill? I-864 or I-864A... or both? My husband is going to be the sponsor. Thanks!!

Thank you for the clarification! Do I have to fill de DS260 now, or should I wait until I get some correspondence from NVC? Thanks. Thanks for the link! At what point fo I have to fill for the green card? (while she is outside the US, or when she moves here. It is so I can budget all my expenses). Thanks! -
