My husband had his Oath ceremony today at the Sacramento Field Office. Thank goodness we got there an hour early, because there was a huge line when we arrived. It took almost an hour to just enter the building; then, it was a mad dash to find the correct conference room. There were only two signs regarding the oath ceremonies taking place, and both were wrong. Lol Thank goodness a lady noticed our confused expressions and directed us to the correct room.
The ceremony itself was a bit anticlimactic. We arrived late. It had already started, but the USCIS officers were very kind and got my husband signed in quickly. Although the notice said "No Guests", one of the officers cleared a seat for me, so I could watch. The whole thing lasted maybe 15 minutes, very informal and perhaps a little rushed, because they were behind schedule. Once they passed out the certificates, they said, "Congratulations, you're free to go!" Haha We hung around a little to take photos and that was it.
From start to finish, it's been a 6 year journey. The citizenship process itself took just 6 months. We're so happy and so relieved we are done with the immigration process.
