  1. Understood. What is your opinion on the case if I were unable to to work if I had someone that could guarantee that she would have a job waiting for her when she arrives? One of my former bosses owns several restaurants and would be willing to hire her as soon as she arrives as I have a very good relationship with him. If I have my information correct, once she comes into the U.S. with an IR-1 visa, she has immediate authorization to work. If I supplied some kind of letter from him guaranteeing a job on top of my co-sponsor would that be a decent amount of evidence that she would be unlikely to become a public charge?
  2. Yes I understand. I would assume the doctors I was seeing would say that I could back to work because they didn't find anything and never said I couldn't work but with the symptoms I was feeling I just didn't feel comfortable with doing that. I do feel that I'm improving though. In any case the joint sponsor would indeed help us out if we were in the worst case scenario where I couldn't work and she wasn't able to find a job. Plus I do have other family as well that understand my situation that are willing to help. I'm not entirely sure how to convince the consulate officer of that though.
  3. Yes, I do have a well-qualified sponsor plus I plan to write a letter in the Affidavit stating that I live with my family, that my wife will be living with us as well and that I don't have to pay rent which makes cost of living much cheaper. Plus I'll explain my whole situation and that I plan to look for work soon. My issue is mostly dizziness stemming from a previous COVID infection, probably not enough to expedite anything but at the same time it does make working pretty difficult but it's gotten better slowly over time.
  4. Well I don't mind explaining a bit. I got COVID back in 2022 and I've been dealing with some issues from that ever since, mostly dizziness. Some days I feel normal but other days it can flare up although slowly the flares are lessening in severity. That's the reason I haven't attempted to work. I was still studying and worked in warehouse before I got sick so the dizziness wasn't something I could really overcome at that time to do my job well. When all this began I still had insurance from my job. I went to the doctors, did a bunch of tests, but they didn't find anything where they could give me a real treatment so I've just been sitting and waiting ever since. I cope with the high cost by just not going to the doctor and hoping time can help me recover what I used to be.
  5. That's good to know. Do you think if I did decide to push myself to work despite my issues that it would be a red flag that I waited until the "last minute" so to speak to work again?
  6. So it's possible they just hold the decision instead of outright denying it? I didn't know they worked that way. I guess that's better than nothing. I will make an update whenever it happens.
  7. Yeah I can imagine it being seen as a red flag to an interviewer but, in my opinion, I always figured that was the point of giving people the ability to find a joint sponsor, for cases like these. Right now I just paid the fees to the NVC and in the process of filling out all the forms so I don't have a date for the interview yet.
  8. I don't have health insurance at the moment. I was planning on getting health insurance when she arrives. I'd get it now if I could but I'll have to wait until November for that. I do have a good amount of money in my bank account but it's just not enough to qualify alone. I'm hoping that they take that into consideration along with my joint sponsor even with my current situation.
  9. Unfortunately I've been unable to work since the beginning of the 2022 due to some health issues. I haven't applied for disability because I don't think it will be permanent but it's just been a very slow journey of progress. I've been living off savings and an inheritance but I do not reach the threshold for assets alone for the Affidavit of Support. A good friend of mine is willing to co-sponsor with me and he very easily reaches the minimum so that's not an issue. I'm wondering if my health situation will make it more difficult for my wife to get approved during the interview as I'm sure they're going to ask why I haven't worked in a few years. Will it matter since I already have a co-sponsor?
  10. Mine was just approved today. I received the notice via email. Thank you to those that responded to me when my case timeline got all messed up on their site.
  11. Yeah I figured it didn't actually disappear in their system but it just didn't let me view the case at all. It's actually doing the same thing today as well.
  12. Thank you! I actually did respond in that threat I just found it weird how my case "disappeared" for a day and came back with that estimate and I wasn't sure if other people had that same experience of the case "disappearing" for a period of time.
  13. Yeah I'm hoping so as well. Did you case "disappear" as well at all? Mine basically disappeared off the site for a day and then when I logged in today it showed up again with that new estimate.
  14. I've posted my experience in a few threads here but I'm curious to see if anyone else has experienced this recently. My PD was May 27th 2023 and originally was for 10 months. After the 10 months with no approval it switched to "taking longer to process". Yesterday my case disappeared from the site even after logging in and I had to check that it was still there by using my receipt number and their Case Status checker. It was still pending so I waited. Today I logged in this morning and my case is there again like normal but now it's saying 10 months. I logout and then check a few hours later it says 11 months. What gives? I know people have been telling me it's inaccurate but it's just so strange how my case "disappeared" for a day and then comes back with an 11 month wait time. I've already waited 13 months and I'm prepared to wait another few months but 11 more months is crazy. Has anyone else experienced this recently?
  15. I filed at the end of May 2023 and the same message appeared for me except now it's showing 11 months for me. It's ridiculous. I've already waited 13 months.
  16. My PD was May 27th 2023 and originally said 10 months than once it hit the end of those 10 months it said that it was taking longer than usual to process. It was like that for 2 months until yesterday where my case disappeared from the site all together for a day. Might have been a glitch in the system but I don't know. This morning I check and it reappears and it says 10 months. Just checked again now a few hours later and it says 11 months. Completely useless. I've been getting reassurance in the May filers thread saying that the estimate is inaccurate and that approval should come in the next few weeks but to me the estimate saying 10 months after I've already waited 13 months is crazy.
  17. Really wish they would get all that under control lol
  18. Thanks guys, I'm hoping that's the case. I just saw the estimate on the USCIS page revert back to 10 months and panicked for a moment but hopefully in the next 2 weeks we'll get approved.
  19. So our PD is May 27, 2023. I submitted ours online. The original estimate they gave me was some time in April but when that didn't happen it was fine because I expected it to be around 12-14 months from May 27, 2023 meaning the end of May towards the end of July. Yesterday the website glitched and wasn't loading my case. I check this morning and now it's saying a 10 month estimate for my case. Do you guys think this is just a glitch? I can't fathom just this part of the process taking over 2 years.
  20. Hello everyone, My wife and I's I-130 should be approved in the next 3 months. It has me thinking about the affidavit of support. I currently don't work and have not been able to work for the past 2 years. I do have enough money to cover the amount necessary to sponsor my wife due to an inheritance. The majority of that money is still in the estate account that I've been pulling out here and there to deposit into my personal bank account. What I'm wondering is if it will look bad if I decide to pull out all that money at once to deposit into my bank account so close to the eventual filing of the affidavit of support? Unfortunately it's the only shot I have of sponsoring my wife due to medical issues so I'm hoping it wouldn't cause issues. Any opinions or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
