  1. It really depends where you are located i think. Was v glad that i was able to get one. But i know its just my experience.
  2. Anyone with imminent travel plans can book a same day appt with an actual passport office .. but only able to request the appt no more than 10 working days prior to travel. No congressional representative intervention needed. Appt for Travel because of life and death emergencies can be requested within 3 working days. Has to be at a facility that actually makes the passport .. not at an application agency https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/get-fast.html
  3. The medical report is only valid for 6 months. Both the visa and medical must be valid when you enter the US. So, if your medical is 2 months old when you have your interview, this will usually be reflected in the visa expiry date being 2 months less than the possible 6 month expiry. Depending in your intended timing for entry to the US, this may create a problem if you were needing 5-6 months to get ready to move. Most of us tried to get the medical as close a possible to the interview date, but early enough to ensure it was available for the interview
  4. Its the same cost as expediting. $60 on top of the regular fee. Nothing like USCIS fees, thats for sure !
  5. I naturalized on Wed Feb 16 last year. Had bookings to Australia for Sat Feb 25th. On Monday Feb 14 I called first thing .. got an appt for 8 am Thursday Feb 23rd at Hot Springs AR.. 5 hrs drive away. Headed to the area the day before.. snowed in with winter storm.. office closed Wed and Thursday.. called the urgent travel number Thursday and told to be at the office Friday morning. First in line wt 7 am for 8 am opening. In and out by 8.20. Returned to pick up my passport after they called me at 11am. Drove home and flew out the next day. I cant guarantee things akways go well but that office bent over backwards and fitted in everyone who had appts cancelled on Wed and Thursday as well as the scheduled appts on Friday. So.. download, fill in and print off the passport application. Do not sign as it must be signed in the presence of the passport officer Get passport photos in hand. Gather required ID.. check the application instructions .. if i remember correctly a state issued Drivers License and her newly issued Naturalization certificate meets the requirements Print off travel doc from airline which includes record locator and date time of travel. They take credit /debit cards onsite. You can call the passport line on Friday April 21 as that is 10 working days to your travel date. Get an appt scheduled. If you don't end up getting the same day oath.. or a ceremony within a week .. just cancel the appt
  6. You can get a passport before you travel if you are able to get to Passport office .. you can get an appt for same day passport but you must 1. have your travel docs in hand eg Itinerary, record locator.. 2. Call on the designated number no more than 10 business days before your trip.. 3. be able to attend in person with required documents including photos at the interview.. often the day or 2 before your travel Passport done that day.. so you hang around and return to pick up your passport and documents https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/get-fast.html urgent travel
  7. Read the line of print along the bottom of the visa foil in the passport
  8. Yep. Worth trying just in case …. But definitely need plan B ready to go. Id be researching and trying to contact the home country consulate to get an idea of their timeframe .. and maybe get on their radar
  9. If you are no longer a legal resident of Canada at the time or your interview, you cannot interview there. You will have to request that your file be transferred to a consulate where you are either a citizen or a legal resident. Id be trying again to get the consulate to schedule the interview before the end of April
  10. Not to the consulate , no. But the $220 green card fee must be paid online after receiving the passport back with the issued visa in it https://my.uscis.gov/uscis-immigrant-fee/
  11. You are in the US seeking to adjust your status to that of permanent resident. You posted your question in the forum for those outside the US going through direct consular processing. Your thread has been moved from that one to the forum which reflects your process
  12. Moved to AOS from work, student or tourist visa
  13. Ive seen posts on it but not familiar with the process myself
  14. Are they definitely not eligible for passports as children of USC ? Sometimes they can be eligible by their USC grandparent More info about your citation would help us understand ..
  15. Very few. Related to your petitioner .. like where she works.. family.. where they live .. compared to other visa categories parents IR5 is v straight forward
  16. No problems at all. Update employment history at your interview. No documentation required
  17. Translation = interpreter. Do not sign “yes”. She did use interpreter services
  18. Moved to “ which visa do i need” as this reflects the OP post
  19. As long as she hasnt been in Egypt for any time longer than 6 months since the PC was issued, the one she has is fine
  20. I am confused. Are you in or out of the US Please amend /update your time line and process if you have switched from Consular processing to Adjustment of status
