OK. Was confused lol... If they are suspecting fraud, it could be longer than normal. Have you started your own thread? Many people may not see this here because it's not about AP. Start a thread on your own. Make sure you tell people it's not your case.

Sounds like you are in AP. There is no timeline for that. It could be days or months, while they look over whatever they want. There are many people who had to provide more evidence. What kind of evidence are they asking for?

The difference is, you're dealing with a man from another culture, mindset, religion, etc... Islam does not every condone any type of abuse towards women. It's a natural reaction to what most women are used to but someone who is mature and has self dignity wouldn't act like this. What you tolerate now will set the bar later for when issues arise. 

Plus what's he going to do during Ramadan when he can't smoke? 

Hi. It sounds like you have a lot of soul searching to do and that this answers aren't going to come from here. First, don't convert because somebody has to convince you. Second, if you do marry, ask yourself at what level of Iman (faith) you want this man to be that you marry. And finally, if he was truly in a bonafide marriage and isn't trying to marry you to make it easier on himself, them let him remove conditions on his own and then entertain the idea of marriage. If he's dating you without a chaperone and is doing other things that are forbidden in Islam, then sounds like he needs to do some soul searching too. If you want to become Muslim then learn about the religion on your own and come to Islam for yourself. If you base your marriage off of conversion alone, it won't work. There's also two sides to every story. Good luck!

2. Has anybody been granted an interview since the embassy opened back up in September?

What stage of the process are you in? You can sideload at NVC stage. You can also send him to interview with more proofs. 

If you have time, you should probably go back to visit once more before the interview. 

I would also be prepared to file CR1 if your K1 goes to AP purgatory or gets denied. 

Of course you'll have to marry first then do CR1. 

You can do another wedding in the states later.

That's not true. They aren't being honest.  I am a revert and married my Algerian husband there. I had a simple letter written by my Imam in Texas with two witness' signatures to prove my shehada. I had no trouble with any gvmnt agency, religious or foreign ministry. Unfortunately Algeria is full of people in those jobs who change the rules according to who they want. 

There is a big mosque in Chevalley, near Algiers, that does official shehada certificates for reverts. You might have your fiance ask.

Hi everyone. Some of you may remember that I was living in Algeria with my husband for the past 2 years. I've moved back to the states recently and have established domicile. We are in month 10 of our journey and waiting patiently for our NOA2. (We're at hellishly slow Nebraska.)

We have a joint sponsor because I won't have enough established time at my new job. I didn't file taxes though because I wasn't even living in the US. So how do I write a letter stating that? What I mean is, is there a template to use? I've Googled but am getting conflicting information.

I just wanted to update anyone following this thread: I moved back here to the US on June 28th and am in the process of finding job and apartment. 

We've found a different co-sponsor who doesn't reply on SSI/SSDI for income. 

We are currently at 9 months waiting for NOA2 at the Nebraska Service Center. Our 2nd anniversary will come this month, making our case IR1.  

Hopefully not too much longer!

The woman does not have to be re-married for the ex husband to marry again. 

Also OP: I married here in Algiers, two years ago and have been living here since. It took us 4 months to finally process all the papers. Also don't let him tell you that you can come and do Fatiha to marry until your papers are processed. Imams are not allowed to do religious ceremonies without a registered marriage license and family book. 

While in Islam it's normal for widows and divorcees to re-marry, here in the capital,it's very hard for divorced women to marry again. However, it IS common for an Algerian man to marry a divorced woman from outside his country. There are many British, Australian and American women married to Algerian men, who are divorced.

Large age differences are not common with the woman being older and children are very important unless the husband is older as well or you will be a second, third or fourth wife. Which in that case you'll have to marry and live here because polygany is of course illegal in the US.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions. 

I'm moving back inshaAllah this Friday to the US to re-establish domicile and get a job but like I said, I've lived here for 2 years so I'm pretty up on the cultural norms and can help you understand a few things maybe. ☺
