K1 Visa and the K2 Children
Mike E replied to Roy an Panitta's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
If he plans to follow 6 or fewer months after your fiance’s medical, he should file DS-160, get a medical, and do the interview. Otherwise, wait. -
It is 99 degrees (granted a bit cool) as I type this. Of course Mrs E is going to drink sangria today. And each day for the rest of the summer. In the pool usually. Then when it starts snowing, of course she is going to drink wine. Sometimes in the hot tub. Last week we had a game of find and kill the 3 inch scorpion before bed time. He was a sneak. We got him. We celebrated with a glass of whisky. He celebrated in a bath of insecticide.

It is impossible for me to go to Bangkok, throw a stick, and not hit a Burmese. Millions of Burmese have found a way to legally stay in Thailand. I know some who have been there more than 10 years, and most are in the service industry. The service industry in Doha, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi always needs foreign workers. Work visas are as open to Burmese as they are to South Asians and Filipinos. Unless it is on a cruise ship, if you have observed enough east Asian service workers in a foreign country, odds are high you have seen a Burmese. They are like Canadians in America: numerous yet invisible.

Co-sponsor questions
Mike E replied to Vegamanx7's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
This odd. In I-864, for “current income” did you list your expected income for the next 12 months, or something else? https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-8-scan-collected-documents/step-9-upload-and-submit-scanned-documents.html “If NVC determines you have paid the necessary fees, submitted the required immigrant visa application, Affidavit of Support, and supporting documents to NVC, you will receive an email that your case is documentarily complete and NVC will work with the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate to schedule an appointment for you. NVC cannot predict when your case will be scheduled for an interview.” So you never got one of those emails? -

Are you documentarily qualified? -
If you do not share religions, it is technically illegal to marry in Burma, though this can be worked around. I’ve been to Burma 7 times. Each time was pre-coup when there was a “mild” war, and even navigated check points run by ethnic armies during official cease fires. These days there is open rebellion. I know people who have fled their homes. It is not safe. Utah remote marriage is the only answer. Then file I-130 to get an IR-1 visa.
-
Not my first rodeo. You are married per the requirements of the K-1 visa. Your profile shows her in a traditional western bridal gown with head dress. This pic alone is likely to cause I-129F or K-1 to be denied. Or CBP denying entry. So now you have two reasons why your lawyer should not be practicing U.S. immigration law. There are excellent reasons why Burmese citizens should use Utah County to be married. If her “ED” visa has expired, then she will not be able to interview in Bangkok unless the U.S. embassy in Burma closes.
-
Legally not necessary, yet sometimes asked for. I would have I-864a ready if asked for.

Mingalarbar. i hope her family is safe You are married and not eligible for K-1. Do the a Utah County Marriage Ceremonies By Remote Appearance ( https://www.utahcounty.gov/dept/clerk/marriage/ceremony.html ) and file I-130 She will only be able to interview where she has authorized presence. Given the civil war in Burma, I cannot advise either of you to go there. My wife got a K-1 from the U.S. embassy in Rangoon, in 2019. Had Utah Remote Appearance been available, we would have done CR-1.

DQ but received this message

NVC not understanding I-864 for people in your situation is a common thing. Or it us a scare tactic. Not sure. While you might want to line up a joint sponsor in case the CO at interview demands on. I think you will be fine if I-864 was correctly filled out. @crazycat -
Diversity brings prosperity. I doubt the diversity visa brings as much prosperity as O-1, EB-1-3, EB-5. US would be the most successful economy in history, with or without the Diversity Visa. Wow you went there. What does “nearly zero” mean? If you quantify it, I can likely debunk it. Let’s see the data. What does “almost none” mean? If you quantify it, I can likely debunk it.

I am not, as OP has raised some good points, and besides which back in Canada OP would be sanctioned for hate speech, even though Canada, unlike the U.S., uses merit based immigration. I am happy OP has the freedom to express surprisingly controversial views. The attacks on OP are either on the * merits on the argument: some types of immigrants do not benefit the economy, or * the basis of the argument: we should not use immigration policy to improve the economy With social security and medicare due to take a hair cut in 10 years, I trust those arguing the latter have in plan a solution that does not involve raiding my assets. As I am retired living in the 10 percent or less tax bracket, I am good with their apparent plans to raise their own taxes so that I get my full SS and Medicare benefits As to the former, one can nit pick all they want about specifics of OP’s targets for priority and de-priority but most older and SAHPs immigrants do not help the economy. My wife for one. There is no need for her to work and she does not. And I get to enjoy her company. It does not offend me.

LPRs at ports of entry on U.S. soil, legally, cannot be denied entry. UAE has another major airport: Dubai. And no CBP pre-clearance at Dubai (yet).

It does. It would be devastating to be denied entry to the U.S. by CBP at Abu Dhabi.

Form I-751 interview got cancelled
Mike E replied to paco5's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
1. 2. You will get an interview or a decision without interview. -
Agreed. A lens for the long term health of the U.S. economy is the sustainability of Social Security and Medicare. As the population ages SS and Medicare face pressure because they are paid from payroll taxes on workers. There are fewer workers per retiree than when these systems were invented. Categories A-D, in reverse order, should be prioritized if we want SS and Medicare to continue without cuts to benefits or hikes in taxes. It is past time, to remove the numerical limits of EB2, EB3, F1, F2B.
