  1. One way is fine. Sometimes a round trip is cheaper than a one way so look for both. Approved doesn’t mean “passport with visa is in hand”. Book nothing that is not fully refundable until passport with visa is in hand unless you can afford to eat the ticket or the change fees.
  2. In my part of the STEM world this is not the case. In particular degrees from UK, India, Canada, Australia (I.e. where most foreign computer programmers working in the USA are educated) are considered equivalent. I can’t think of a single hire / no-hire decision that was made during my career because of what country issued a degree.

Applying for jobs online is rarely effective. You need to have someone inside present your resume to a hiring manager. Are there people on your UK LinkedIn network who work for companies that have engineering operations in both countries? Contact them and ask them to make a referral for a job posted externally and then ask them to send a your resume directly to the hiring manager. When I did this on behalf of former coworkers, this generated a phone screen call over 50 percent of time. Literally orders of magnitude more effective than applying for 100s of jobs online each day.

  18. USCIS has already ruled on that point. Based on what I read in the other thread, I think it is an even lower (than hardship waiver) percentage play to appeal it to federal court. The high percentage play is as @mindthegap stated.
  19. So the 3rd sponsor can have the wiener owner produce an employment verification letter. If the 2nd sponsor has an employee with responsibility for finances (eg a CFO), then that employee can produce an employment verification letter.
