I have a question for the group!!

I am done with my immigration process.

My husband is here in the US and I was wondering:

    1. For anyone in my situation, how long did it take for your spouse to get their green card in the mail (my husband has been here for 3 weeks)

    2. Do we have to register our marriages somehow for that they are recorded just like a US marriage would be? Or do we have to go get a marriage license and remarry here?

    3. How long did it take to get your spouses social security numbers?. I did mark the box for one on the visa application.

    4. Is there any ph# we can Call to check To see if Ss# was issued or green card has been mailed out?

Thank you guys in advance for your help!!

Took 6 weeks for us. We also had to go to SSN office to get the SSN card!

I called my town hall and we did not have to register our marriage anywhere! Just have extra copies of the certificate from abroad for insurance etc.

I called USCIS and they told me when my GC was issued.

    Hello hello hello!

I just got recently approved today at my interview and I couldn't be any happier 😊!

I was just wondering if you guys could give me some insights into when you received your visas as me and my fiance have some plans and we would like to know around when should we expect to receive them, they told me in the interview that they'd give me the visa around 10 business days but have you guys got it any sooner?

    Thank you in advance!

I had my interview in May and by the next Day it was changed to “issued” and it only took 3 days to receive it! We had a very quick turn around

    Hello!

My husband received his letter stating his interview will be August 22.  Yay!  We're having a small issue we're hoping to solve.

We will be moving out of state  the day after so I'm worried about the delivery of the green card (assuming/hoping we get approved).  I'm trying to figure out what we should do.

We are driving from Massachusetts to Minnesota the day after, so we will not be around to check the mail at our old apartment.  Potentially, if the card arrives August 30 or before, my sister can pick up our mail and take it with her when she visits us in our new state. But if it doesn't arrive, we're kind of out of luck with that option.

Another issue is that we don't have our new apartment in Minnesota until Sept 2, meaning that we'll be "homeless" for about a week while we make the drive and get temporary accommodations until we can move in.  So I cant change the mailing address to the Minnesota apartment until then...

I'm not sure what to do.

What I'm thinking right now is to look into getting a post office box, but I'm not sure if that kind of mail can be delivered to a PO Box?

Does anyone have any advice on this?  I'd appreciate your input :)

Get a PO Box and notify them ASAP of address change (I assume you can put a PO Box?) our GC took 5 full weeks to come so you will have some time.  I called USCIS on Friday 7/19 and the GC was made 7/18.  Our US entry was 6/15 so it took over a month to create basically.  It should be totally fine. Good luck.

CR1 visa. Over 1 month since POE and still no sign of SSN & no sign of Greencard. Getting worried. How long more should I wait? Anybody else waiting?

Just happened to me too. The border officer didn’t do something correctly so we didn’t get the SSN. We went to the local SSN office and our SSN was issued within 3 business days.  5 days after that our GC came.  This all just happened last week and our date of entry was 6/15. It took over a month. Don’t worry.

Thank you so much for answer.

Would you be as kind as to ask him how we went about going to the hospital to get the remaining vaccines? Did he needed an appointment? If so, how did he make it? And in which area did he got the vaccines? General medicine or a specialized ward?

Thank you once again for the answer , I feel this process almost ending and it's a little unnerving how much goes into this whole thing.

He lived in Quepos and went to what he said was just Seguro Social, like a small clinic that is associated with the hospital and they do vaccinations and small things like that.  No appointment, but you’d have to find out where one is located near you! Yes this process is long and tough, but it’ll be worth it!

    Hello everyone!

I would just like to know if anyone knows where in Costa Rica could I get all records of vaccinations I've ever received? or if possible, a test of sorts that is not very expensive to determine this?

I went to la Caja to ask but with no success, lady said they: "Don't do that"

I have a small booklet which kept shots I had gotten all the way until I was 11 or 12 I believe, but I really really don't want to pay for any more vaccines as I've noticed that they're quite expensive here.

All we had was the book too from childhood.  They accepted that without an issue at the physical.  In order to avoid costs, my husband went to his local hospital and got the remaining vaccines he needed for free before the physical exam date.  I don't think there is a way to retrieve old records unless your previous doctor or hospital had them electronically.  Where my husband lived at least, that did not exist.  Best of luck!

Have my interview in Stockholm on monday,

For supporting documents we attached tax return transcripts from 2018, 2017 and 2016 as well as the 1040's from each of those years. However some of these were listed as optional, such as 1040's from 2016 and 2017. As they were online we attached them anyway, but I now discover that they are respectively 28 pages and 146 pages long. Am I expected to also print out the latter? Its massive.

I dont know much about these documenst as they are from my US spouse, but thought the tax returns were the most important, so maybe I could leave out these optional ones. What should I do?

Even though they aren’t necessary and are optional, I think it’s usually recommended to carry anything you submitted to CEAC at the NVC stage to the interview in case they ask for it.  They probably won’t want it, but just in case. We printed all ours too even though they didn’t even ask for it.  It’s annoying, but better to have and anything from CEAC is fair game! Good luck.

I have looked at the average time lines and the average for my local field office is almost two years? There’s no way it should take two years, I was thinking 5-7 months max, what is the average right now in months for K1s to get green card? Yes I saw the timelines posted here.

What service center did you get? And what country is the visa for?

Okay so i bet some of you have this same question and some of you are in the same situation.

My spouse has her interview in June next month (yayyy). Our uncle was our Financial Sponsor and he filled out the i864 way back in February, so it does not include his 2018 tax numbers on it (since he did not have his 2018 taxes filed at the time he filled out that form).

He filed his 2018 Taxes last month. So, do I need to update the i864 and put these new 2018 numbers on it?

I had my interview last week and my embassy ONLY wanted 2018 taxes. Definitely bring them with you even if you didn’t put it on the 864.  They may want 2017 and 18.

    Hello,

I looked it up on the internet but had different answers from different websites. My country is Turkey. So I was thinking it is OK to submit documents in Turkish to the Ceac system?

    Thank you!

My documents submitted to nvc were in Spanish with no translation because Spanish is the main language of my husbands country. All accepted no problems.
