The issue comes from SS personnel not knowing how to process the application once married. Some think getting married voids the visa and the status. Some try to run it under the new married name and that causes issues because the name has to match the visa to be found. Once they start giving you a hard time about it it is almost next to impossible to have them see it a different way. It is easiest and safest to do so before marriage. Another option is to not mention if you married at the time of applying and confusing the SS personnel. Which will also help avoid going to different locations to get someone new and trying again.

Travel impact on N400?
Ontarkie replied to litmustester's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion

Mam521 said it perfectly.

That's awesome. Congratulations

I doubt it would be approved that fast. But stranger things have happened. Could the aos be delayed at all? I would worry because this is work sponsor AOS that they could refuse later down the road to sponsor you again. The costs have gone up and they may feel you blew their money away once already. Nothing is guaranteed.

Yes, you will have to cross the border to get your visa endorsed before the visa expires. You can return to Canada right away, no need to wait for the GC. No need to mention that you are returning to Canada right away, unless they ask. Then you just explain you are going back to collect the rest of your things. Just do not make it sounds like you're not moving yet. It is normally not an issue. Only once in all my years on VJ did I see someone be turned away and told not to enter until she was ready to move.

Thank you so much, I'll go check those out too. Hopefully work chills out for you soon.

You are both in your 30's you're not children, but he is sure acting like one. Having you take pictures of the meal you made so he can make up his mind if he wants to eat. Too bad so sad, if he wants to eat he gets his hinny to the kitchen. He wants certain food he goes to the stores with you. He arrived in May and does nothing but complain or hide. I'm sorry but he is showing his true colours, he won't change. THis is the honeymoon stage all should be hunky dory at this point. A little strain is normal but not what you typed here. It took me 3 years to adjust here and almost 5 before I really felt like this was home. Not once did I blame my husband for things, but I sure as heck complained. I complain about no ketchup chips, I complained about the dang spiders, I complained about the traffic, I complained about the flour and boy did I complain about the ppl. But not once did I blame him. There's a difference between culture shock and being out right nasty and he is just being nasty. If you want to keep trying then you need to have a coming to Jesus talk with him. No more games, period. He participates or he leaves. If you're done then it's time to tell him. Pull the I 864 so you and if your parents signed it too are not on the hook.

Another thing, do not mention he's married. Some personnel think getting married voids the K1 and deny the SSN.

Yes the only reason I wear my glasses.

I would not do anything else until you contact one the two lawyers mentioned in this thread. Both of these lawyers are straight shooters. They will tell you if it is possible. Laurel Scott I think is retired but the firm is still going and can tell you one way or another. The clean slate is good to go after but just remember it will not make it like it never happened fo US immigration. It will still need to be mentioned and have the court records submitted. I don't know why the other lawyers said no way. It could be out of their wheelhouse or they it's because they know more then us. Regardless contact the two listed above and they should give you the honest truth, if your spouse is eligible for a waiver.

Jumping in and looking for help with my ugly tired, dark circle eyes. I never wear makeup I started using some stuff but I can't remember what it's called. Vit E or C maybe haha I'm allergic to everything and I mean everything. So that is a big factor, plus I'm no spring chicken. Is there anything I can do without a full makeup routing? I would never follow though if that is the only way.

Without knowing exactly what the convictions are we can only guess. I suggest using the link in the above post to Hacking on YT. If you want a more private setting call his firm and maybe you can get a consult. One way or another you both need to get as honest as possible with the right lawyer. Not all lawyers are equal. Even with him going for a clean slate act( I'm guessing it is like a pardon/forgiveness and hide the conviction) he will still need to declare everything on the forms for immigration benefits and will need all court records regarding it.
