Oh no a leak at Christmas will cost a bloody fortune. Did you check if it was from the neighbour that you mentioned earlier? Do you have a shut off at the street? You can turn the water off to the house, fill up a couple buckets for the bathroom and jugs for drinking water. This time of the year it may take a a bit to get a plumber. If you can shut the water off to the house it will save your water bill. That sucker will go sky high fast.

NVC doesn't ask for that. It is Montreal that will need it before a visa is issued. I hate to tell you but until 18 you need a court order or parental permission. The 12 thing is only for a judge to take into consideration the child's thoughts and wishes. You're preaching to the choir here, my ex didn't pay a cent in child support. He lived 5 mins walking distance from my kids and still never saw them. He was abusive, plenty of police reports, CPS and medical records of drug and alcohol abuse. I still needed either his consent or a court order. I went with a court order, so there was no chance of him changing his mind.

She may still be required a letter of consent from the father. In Canada sole custody is not the same as in the US. I was still required to have a letter of consent or court order.

~~Moved to Work Visas, from AOS from W,S & T Visas- the OP is asking about being under his wife's TN visa~~
-
It is good to share your experience. Sometimes some think it's easy to just do AOS instead because they heard so and so, not knowing that entering the US on a tourist visa to adjust status is fraud. For those new readers and log time members of this thread, dmitrych qualified for a dual intent visa. This allowed a legal path to GC wile inside the US. Thank you for the update

I love that you are here asking. I'm with the others, the kids are not going to be the ones who will care for it. Sadly the parents will probably resent and be pretty upset with your wife if she does not have their permission. I'm the type that loves all animals, I have almost anything my kids or myself would ever want. Minus the goats and cows because we live in town they they frown on that. I'm still tempted to get a mini house cow. I read they can be house train too But here's the kicker, if my inlaws showed up with a cat for my kids I'd kill them. Anything that comes in this house I'm the one expected to care for it. Sure the kids help out, but it is all on me the parent. Please try to convince your wife not to do it unless she gets the go ahead from the parents. As Lemonslice mentions the Sphynx are very high maintenance, my son is waiting for but not until he buys his house because his apartment is super cold.

K1 visa possibility
Ontarkie replied to BubblyJoe's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
This plan is outright fraudulent. She cannot use a new J1 to avoid her 2yrs residency requirement or use the J1 with intent to adjust her status. That is outright fraud and against the TOS of this site. -
No they are not the same. A K1 enters the US, they get married and file for AOS. Once AOS is approved they get a 2 yr GC. then roughly 2 yrs down the road they file for Removal of Conditions (ROC). A K3 would be close to this order but they are married on entry. (I only mention K3 since you originally posted in the K3 forum). CR1's do not file for AOS either, but as they were married less then 2 yrs they get a 2 yr GC and will file for ROC roughly at the 2 yr mark. (90 days before the 2 yr card expires). IR1's do not file for either AOS or Removal of conditions, they do not get a 2 yr GC, they get a 10yr card.
-
You could have been reading about a K3. They are similar to a K1 but married, still need to file for AOS and ROC. But these are almost never granted anymore and instead spouses get the IR1 or CR1. An IR1 or CR1 do not adjust as the date they enter those visas act as their temporary GC. They are GC holders at that moment the visa is stamped at entry.
-
The CR1 Process does not include adjustment of status. The spouse enters the US with a CR1 Visa and if married less then 2 years. They still have to do ROC as the marriage is less then 2 years. The IR1 Process is for married couples of more than 2 yrs. They do not adjust status either and they do not have to file for ROC as they have been married for over 2 yrs at the time of entry. Now the very rare K3 visa is a married couple who do still have to adjust status after entry. It used to be a faster way to enter so they also would have been married less then 2 yrs. They also would have to file for ROC.
