  1. Best evidence of bona fide marriage is from the date of marriage until the time you file the N-400. Another suggestion that works is to file the N-400 with the minimum required documents (marriage certificate, divorce decree if applicable, and IRS tax transcripts) and take more evidence from the date of marriage until present to the N-400 interview.
  2. USCIS is showing 7.5 months for 80% of cases, N-400, Houston: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/
  3. What is the total amount owed to the IRS? It could be that your anticipated refunds are less than what needs to be paid. Once the amended tax returns are filed, the IRS will only send you a refund if it is greater than the outstanding taxes (plus fees, late penalties, etc.). They will reduce the debt by the amount of the refund.
  4. The problem you will face is getting a US passport quickly after the oath ceremony. Even with a legitimate need for upcoming travel abroad, appointments at a US passport agency are very difficult to get. Do more research on that so you will be prepared. After the oath ceremony you will need a US passport to re-enter the US.
  5. Upload the letter and also send it to the USCIS field office, address on the N-400 interview notice.
  6. You have a pending petition, she doesn't. That is most likely the reason you were denied and she wasn't.
  7. My husband sent the USCIS field office a letter requesting a combo interview with the pending I-751 and included copies of everything for both the N-400 and I-751. It worked. We have seen many cases where the N-400 interview was held, the applicant passed everything, but then did not get final approval because the I-751 file was lost in a warehouse somewhere. Good luck!
  8. Looks like a combination of extended security checks being from Pakistan, plus they denied K1 eight years ago because maybe they questioned the relationship or your intent. How much time together, in person, have you had since getting married five years ago? What evidence of the bona fide marriage did you submit with the original petition and at the NVC stage prior to the interview? AP can be long for Pakistanis. Sorry this process is taking so long, but that's the reality of how it is.
  9. Do more research on medical schools in the USA and tuition. Some offer scholarships, reduced tuition, or even no tuition at all. Here's one example from a university in Texas where I worked for 18 years: https://www.tcu.edu/news/2022/anonymous-family-funds-a-years-tuition-for-60-medical-students.php
  10. Totally agree with this advice. Given all the problems and OP's uncertainty, and 1-2 weeks physically together in two years of marriage, more visits to Canada to spend time with her, encourage her to get the help she needs, observe and see what happens with the relationship, is the best way forward. The spousal visa from Canada to the US will take about 2 years anyway, so even if OP files an I-130 at some point, there is plenty of time after that to continue visiting her before deciding whether or not to continue with her immigration process at the NVC/I-864 point in time.
  11. Send everything you have since the date of marriage to now. Joint bank account statements (I suggest quarterly), all pages, and jointly owned property evidence (mortgage, deed, lease) are strongest, also driver's licenses showing that you live at the same address. Some officers like to see a few photos so send those as well.
  12. How did she get divorced religiously? If there was an Islamic marriage, what was done to formalize the divorce, if anything? Any documentation of the Islamic marriage? Of the divorce?
