  1. My concern is that I need to go to Amsterdam in August. Seeing as things are I won’t get a passport in time for that trip, but still don’t meet the requirements for a one day passport. I probably will need to play it by ear and wait until it’s two weeks to my trip and then apply for an expedited passport
  2. So they didn’t even ask you for proof of a reservation?😂 Probably because when you applied for the appointment you had to provide proof maybe that’s why. They won’t know if I buy a flight and then cancel it just for an appt right?
  3. Keep checking, maybe a spot will open up?
  4. Well keep us updated! What is the timeline to obtain a passport? How long do you have to wait?
  5. That's fair, I think you get a full refund on the trip if cancelled within 24 hours. Regardless, my worry is that I they will lose my certificate and it will cost $600 to replace.
  6. What's the timeline on the expedite?
  7. It's worth it to get the passport through them just so you can get the certificate back immediately rather than having it mailed weeks later by USPS back to you. I think I will book an international flight and do that.
  8. Do you need proof of an upcoming flight, and how much does it cost?
  9. Hi, here is a list of Santa Ana filers: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?op6=All&op7=Santa+Ana+CA&op1=6&op2=&op4=1&op5=5%2C10%2C11&cfl=0 One person who filed on Jan 4th got an interview for April 12, and someone else who filed on March 19 got an interview for June 6th
  10. Does anyone know how long it takes to get an oath with a name change in Chicago?
  11. That's not one of the 100 questions which can be asked though
  12. Sho signed the banktones? That’s not a question on the 100 questions PDF? she asked me for my tax transcripts also! It’s important that everyone takes theirs!
  13. Interview notices are usually 3-4 weeks out, so if they get a notice of interview now, it's going to be for around the July 4th time, so I'd probably think they won't be scheduled for the July 4th oath. Wish him best of luck though in getting the July 4th oath.
  14. I hope you hear back soon! They both filed on the same day, but one is already naturalized the other waiting for an interview. Weird how it works sometimes I guess.
  15. Weird how people apply on the same day and some get an interview so fast and others wait ages.
  16. Hm, That makes no sense because the officer told you at the interview they were recommending you for approval, so they should have changed the status to recommended for approval on the website as well! Hope you hear back soon, hopefully it changes so you can get your oath!
  17. Yes it’s not normal, maybe the interviewer forgot to actually submit your case for quality review. They have to do that. Mine was updated as soon as I walked out of the interview room.
  18. In that case it's not normal, especially since you're 1 month post interview, it shouldn't say interview is scheduled it should say that you're either in line for the oath or that you're in quality review in line for the oath. I would call USCIS helpline tomorrow when you get the chance to inquire!
  19. It's not weird if you don't get an Oath notice in 1 month because sometimes it takes several weeks, but the case status of the case should have changed from interview scheduled. What do you see under case history? It should look like this imo.
  20. Oh okay then you should be fine. My interviewing officer opened my file before my interview, but didn’t really look at the documents I uploaded. I got a notification that action was taken on my case 15 minutes before my interview time. But the interview officer said they didn’t look at the documents that I uploaded digitally. With that being said, you’re probably better off just taking the name change document directly to the interview. I don’t know if uploading it now will cause unnecessary delays. Maybe someone else can weigh in too with their opinion.
  21. Don't you have to legally apply for a new GC now? I read that you have to file an I-90 which costs like $600 before going to the interview, so that's why I didn't change my name beforehand because I'd have to replace my GC. At least that's what I was notified when I inquired.
  22. Hi everyone, I had my interview today at the Chicago FO. I arrived 20 mins early and it was not very crowded. I waited about an hour to be called up. The IO was professional. No small talk and got straight to the interview but she was nice. I applied under the 5-yr rule and got a green card through my mother who is a US citizen. I took my residential lease and my tax transcripts, driver's license, passport and GC. She asked to see 5 years worth of my IRS tax transcripts before recommending for approval so I am happy I uploaded to the portal and also took it to the interview. The questions I was asked (got all 6 right so we moved on): What are the two major political parties in the United States? Who lived in America before the Europeans arrived? What is the name of the Vice President of the United States now? How many amendments does the Constitution have? When was the Declaration of Independence adopted? I forget the 6th question! She had me read a sentence off the tablet and then had me write "Mexico is south of the United States" on a tablet. She asked me the yes/no questions and confirmed the name change on my application. She told me she will recommend me for approval, and that now my case is going to final quality review. If everything looks good, they will schedule and oath and I should be notified of the location for the judicial oath within 6 weeks. Back in 2022 my N-400 got denied because my Green Card printed the wrong residence since date and so I applied too early. She asked me a little bit about this denial and said I should have gotten my money back since it wasn't my fault. I said I cut my losses on that one because the IO during my denial told me I would not get they money back even though it wasn't my fault. Overall, I was in and out of there within 20 minutes or so! As soon as I left I got an update on the portal. Is it normal for it to say: "Your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling." and then after that say "Case Was Submitted For Quality Review Based On An Approval Recommendation" because I would think it's the other way around?? Can anyone weigh in on this?
