My parents see to be staggerred too....worried what happens if this all doesn't synch up.... Dad's timeline is 8 months, mom's is 10 months....dad's status changed to actively reviewed 6 days ago, and mom's is still sitting on received....

Hi, was curious how this all shook out. I also applied for both parents, and they are also going to be dealing with the Canadian consulate eventually.

Does anyone else keep waking up to texts/emails that they've taken action on the case but nothing has changed when you log on? The day i submitted online the system generated a notice and everything. But the last 2 morning i have notifications for both cases and when i log in it looks like the day i sent it in!

Just submitted mine online today for both of my parents (in Canada): Submission Date: 6/27/2023 Receipt Notice: 6/27/2023 IOE Receipt Number -- so I guess Nebraska Service Center for both parents

Yes, filing I-130. All phonetic/english characters. But his name at birth (on my birth certificate, their marriage certificate, his birth certificate) is Feri. In Canada, when they immigrated in the 80s, you were allowed to put your "english equivalent" name down, so he used Frank. So on his Canadian naturalization it says both name variations but his passport shows Frank. But again, for the purposes of all this (I-130 and me being his daughter), his name on my birth certificate is the Feri version, not his current Canadian Passport page english "Frank" version. --also when they ask you to list where they intend to live, for now, do we just list my address as the petitioner?

Hi, my parents immigrated to Canada. On my birth certificate/their marriage certificate/his canadian naturalization document all have the same first name (his mother language) but his current canadian passport has the "english" version of his first name --- both of those names are on his canadian naturalization document though. Do i write an explanation and upload it as part of the i-130 or ask him to go get a new Canadian passport with the new name....only issue is that i dont know if that changes the passport # and all his visits to the U.S. were with the english version. Any insight?

My parents are older, so when they got vaccinations for things there weren't records/or they are lost. They have proof for all the COVID vaccinations but none of the ones that are from childhood. What does the medical reviewer expect for the I-130 medical interview? Do they need to re-do everything (is that even safe?), do they do blood work/tests that show immunity? Any suggestions?

Hello, I am in the process of filing an i-130 for my parents living abroad. They were married in Austria - their marriage certificate is multiple pages and at the end there is a "translation key" that goes by number and gives multiple language translations. Is that enough? I figured i would attach a clean copy and also a "highlighted" copy to show where the translation is. Has anyone used a similar foreign language document as part of USCIS immigration processes with success?

Hi! I am doing this for my Canadian parents now -- when do we do the i-864 (financial sponsorship portion?) is that something you bring to the inverview versus how we have to file the i-130?

I am planning to submit for my parents who live outside the u.s. --- when do we submit the financial stuff for sponsorship??? The i-864? Or is that something they need to bring to their interview at the consulate and a check/credit card form?? Do i only submit i-130 right now? When you look on the USCIS qebsite/instructions they say where to mail the I-864, so im confused.

another (probably dumb) question -- in the i-130 where it asks to list the beneficiary's children (25 a) -- so i list married names or names at birth (i am their only child, but my name now as a married woman is different than what is on birth certificate) so for 25 a and b do i list my current name or name at birth?

Question: when you apply for both parents what happens if one is approved before the other? Both my parents live outside the U.S., so it would be consular processing in Montreal. Just wondering if the system knows to wait for both approvals or if one will get sent for interview and get approved before the other. Only asking because once consular approves you only have 6 months to cross right? Also for the question where the form asks for the beneficiary's intended address -- for now, do i list that as my home? They will plan to buy something small but cannot until they sell their home and they can't sell home until all this approves. So wondering if i just list my address in that part since they live outside of the U.S. and this is going to be a i-130 and consular processing not an adjustment of status....THANK YOU!

Thanks for this! Once they would get approved in Montreal at the consulate, how much time do they have to sell the house/cross the border with the IR-5 Visa? Once they cross, do they have to do anything else to trigger getting the Green Card mailed to them? Assuming until they do all that and can use money from their home to buy a home here, they are moving to my home/that's ok with this immigration process? Any idea how long it takes for them to get their Green Card once they get here? Because even Obamacare options they could only sign-up for once they get the Green Card in hand I assume? Wondering how long they would have to find another form of insurance between crossing the border and the day they get their Green Card if it is significant... Sorry I went through the Fiance 90-Day Process with my husband, and that had many steps between that to Naturalization. Maybe I'm overcomplicating things because of that!!

Anyone out there that is going through, or has recently (last 5 years), gone through bringing their parents from Canada (or similar) to the U.S.? My parents are considering it. I am an only child, they have a granddaughter, and they are alone in Canada. We live in the south, so travel time is lengthy. I have so many questions, and plan to do my research but my main questions are: 1) What are the main reasons USCIS would reject a case? Is being "too old" a concept? One parent is 61, the other is 55. They are retired, but were frugal their whole lives to so home is paid for, savings is good, etc. They honestly could live off of their savings for the the rest of their lives because they barely buy anything other than food and basic utilities. **The other kicker is my mother is in remission from an early stage of cervical cancer. She went through treatment in 2020 and has been cancer free at all follow-ups since. Does this effect the immigration process? 2) Insurance in the U.S. for parents - my dad is willing to go back to work in any capacity if he has to because otherwise insurance would be way too high or because the U.S. would prefer it. But again, they are so frugal they really could live off of what they saved/selling their old home. But if he didn't, anyone have experience on how expensive insurance would be for Green Card holder folks over the age of 55/60? With mom having her past history? 3) Money implications -- what are they looking at as it relates to money loss beyond just exchange rates from CAD to USD? What does Canada ding you with that is significant, what does the US ding you with that is significant? Is there a way to alleviate those implications (i.e., if you bought a home before immigrating, or if they moved in with us versus buying a home... any advice you have/lessons learned in that respect). 4) I didn't use a lawyer for my immigration process because I honestly didnt think anyone who handle my case as thoroughly as I would handle my own. In my parent's case is there a reason to engage one or a consultant on the money side that would ensure everything is done the correct way and in a way that could result in the most success? And finally, and probably the answer I am most nervous of, is there any viable chance of this working out or should we just give up on this turning into a reality?

That's not a bad idea...my receipt from the N-400 interview had his first initial and last name on it. And i know his office is at the location i had my interview. I could do that. Not sure if they just throw out any mail they get. Is that typically what they ask people to do when sending additional evidence to specific officer?

Hi, looking to see if anyone has found a way to get directly in-touch with the USCIS officer that interviewed them post naturalization interview. How do you submit evidence if they ask for more? I was not asked for more but my interview occured 12/13/2022, with a pending i-751. This is all marriage based. I passed, and the officer didnt realize my i-751 was pending until we got to that question. And no, he didnt need to request/wait for my file. It was in front of him on his desk. He asked if i wanted to give additional evidence so i gave him recent mortgae statements, health insurance, other insurance stuff since everything in the i-751 was from summer of 2020. It's february, and no movement. Yes, my spouse was outside but was never asked to come in. I honestly feel like he put my file on the back of his desk and forgot about it. I've put in a message through the USCIS portal and got a general response back saying the last status is that i attended the interview. Has anyone had this happen, and been waiting this long? Any way to get through to this guy? I legit feel like i was just forgotten and not this is just pending because no one is thinking/looking at it...out of sight out of mind. I wonder if now with things being more elctronic if officers get promts when something is approaching the 120 days... but i doubt it, and it's probably just wishful thinking. At this point it has been 38 business days post interview that was passed and he even made the comment that 1) he would look at my case next week (i.e. Week of December 20th), and when i gave him the additional evidence he said he doesn't forsee there being problems with i-751 approval with this type of evidence and us having as child together since getting married etc. How can i just get someone to remind this guy to look at my stuff --- we really are an easy case!

Yes, did anyone get this resolved that's commented? Im 30 days post interview. Only diffrence is that he had my i-751 file on his desk and didn't realize he needed to approve it until i was asked if my i-751 had been approved and i said no (because nothing changed until i applied for my n-400 and they sent my i-751 to the field office i was at)

Happy for you both! It's been more than a month and still nothing. Have you seen others with this issue dragging out this long, any idea what they have done to help? Any advice on how to get in contact with someone that can help? He had my whole case file in front of him (I-751 included)...i sent a message on the online portal and got a generic response 5 days later. The worst part is he said he'd try to look at it the next week and now it's more than a month and nothing. I just don't know what to do or who to call when i know he has everything in my file sitting in his desk. What if i just get forgotten? I'm so lost...we did everything right. Our whole family thought that interview day was the for celebration and now we are in purgatory...

any movement on your case?????? a month later on my end and no movement. I send a message in the online portal and got a pretty generic response. Can we ever get a hold of the person we interviewed with that clearly has our life in their hands?!!

Had my N-400 interview last Tuesday -- agent got to the question where they asked if my removal of conditions was approved, I said "no???". He looked shocked and said "what?!" He then opened the big folder in front of him and said "oh i guess i have to do that too then. For that reason i cannot approve your n-400 today and just give you a receipt that you passed the interview but pending/undetermined at this time." He asked if i have anything else to give him for the i-751 (removal of conditions) and i said i brought our recent health insurance re-elections for 2023 showing and our daughter (born after we were married in the u.s.) is covered under my husband and some more recent mortgage/lease statements showing we are both still listed at same address/responsible for the payments monthly. This is in addition to a stackkkkkkkk of evidence submitted a year and a half ago when i originally submitted my i-751. He sort of said something along the lines of, " Ii don't forsee there being an issue with your approval especially with this healthcare insurance stuff, mortgage/lease stuff, and a child together -- but i'll have to look through it -- hopefully I'll get to it sometime next week." Well "next week" has now passed and not a single change in status -- i-751 still only shows finger prints reused from October, and the n-400 still just shows as interview was scheduled. HAS ANYONE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH A PENDING I-751, GOING TO THE N-400 INTERVIEW, PASSING AND THEN THE OFFICER/AGENT SAYING THEY NEED TO REVIEW THE I-751 FILE BEFORE THEY CAN APPROVE THAT THEN APPROVE CITIZENSHIP IF THEY THINK YOU SHOULD BE APPROVED?
