  1. I would argue that there are better ways to distribute tax cuts that don’t skew so heavily towards the wealthy.
  2. https://abcnews.go.com/amp/Politics/trump-told-supporters-retribution-now-im-indicted/story?id=100386551
  3. There’s only one candidate promising to be your “retribution.” I’m not sure persecution of political opponents is going to get better.
  4. If you think inflation is bad now, just wait and see what 10% across the board tariffs, mass deportations, and more tax cuts do
  5. They are, but Trump is not back in office. So let’s wait and see. Just like let’s see what happens with Hunter after the election.
  6. Wow, there is a very right leaning part of VJ that I never really knew existed. Where do you stand on pardoning J6 participants? I think anyone using violence to further political goals should be held responsible, including these protesters.
  7. I don’t know if it has a specific meaning, but someone has at least touched the case.
  8. I think as populations in the developing world age we will see more and more policies making it easier for immigrants. The major thing holding back both the Japanese and Chinese economies are shrinking working age populations. The solvency of all our social programs are going to depend on continued immigration. In addition, one of the most potent tools against current inflation is increased immigration. We are fortunate to live in a country that has a good history of welcoming immigrants and incorporating them into our nation. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see cash incentives for immigrants in my lifetime.
  9. Do you have Thai residency? The quickest path could be DCF (direct consular filing) of I-130 petition. The embassy has discretion on accepting DCF cases. One typical reason where it is granted is a job offer with a short notice start date. It is definitely something you should explore.
  10. Many are mentioning costs, but is she going to be happy here? Are other family members here? Do you live near a large Filipino community? Do you work or will you be home with her? We are bringing my mother in law, who is in her early 50s, and I worry we are making a mistake. She’s going to be looking after grandkids, but I think it’s likely she will feel lonely and homesick.
  11. Yes, this, did you have a residence permit and how long had you been in Germany? I also wonder if they don’t treat school the same way as jobs. Will you be working for the school in conjunction with your studies? If so, maybe you should have lead with that. It is frustrating, but with government bureaucracy it’s probably best to color within the lines.
  12. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country.html Look here to see which document they want.
  13. 1. Current address goes in contact section. Shouldn’t be included in address history section. 2. Put what’s on her passport. But I would assume include both last names. Definitely include in aliases if not on passport. 3. No, doesn’t count if she was just transiting in airport. 4. This is about your current marriage. Leave blank since you are still married. There will be a place for your spouse’s previous marriages. 5. Fill out your information under current spouse. 6. Definitely include translations and a certification that the English translation is complete and accurate, and that the translator is competent to translate from Spanish to English. I’d make as one pdf for simplicity. 7. Apparently your spouse doesn’t need to sign the I-130A if overseas. 8. I’m not sure a letter would be useful unless there’s something weird you need to explain. 9. Your petition goes to USCIS. It’s generally about a year for approval. Once approved the case is forwarded to NVC. They’ll ask for more documents. You’ll have to fill out your affidavit of support, your spouse will fill the DS-260, you’ll pay more fees. This process will probably take a few months. Then NVC will forward to the embassy. I don’t know how long the wait is there for an interview.
  14. I agree with Crazy Cat. This is your best bet to prod the embassy. You can contact either of your two senators or congress person, whoever has the most responsive constituent’s services office.
  15. Your physical address should be your address abroad. For mailing you can use wherever you’d like to receive correspondence. There is no where on the I-130s where a beneficiary needs to sign (wife & step-daughter). Only you, the petitioner, (and interpreter & preparer if used) needs to sign.
  16. It can definitely be done without a lawyer. It depends on how well you can read through government forms and follow the directions. The petitioner will have to do most of the leg work to provide the information to the lawyer. You also want to look over anything the lawyer is going to submit for mistakes. Some member recommend visa services that are less expensive than lawyers generally.
  17. The easiest way to submit the petition is online. He can interview in his country of citizenship or legal residence. I would imagine that it would be faster and more convenient to interview in Saudi Arabia. If she has no income, I think she can include a letter to that effect in lieu of tax transcripts. She should provide as much evidence as possible about re-establishing domicile in the US. It’s possible she might not need to move ahead of time if the embassy is convinced by the evidence.
  18. Your sister should file a I-130 petition for her husband. Does she by chance have a job offer in the US? If so, she might qualify for DCF. This can speed up certain aspects of the process. She also needs to work on re-establishing domicile in the US. Does she have US bank accounts, driver’s license, property? It may necessitate her moving back before her husband. This could potentially be a fair amount of time apart if he experiences long administrative processing. Either way, she should work on getting the petition filed. Administrative processing for Pakistani nationals can take a long time.
  19. Look at timelines: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/filterlist.php?cfl= Input Cambodia and CR-1/ir-1 and ask for detailed results. Seems like it has been within 6 months for most people recently.
  20. Search timelines for Sri Lanka for CR-1/ir-1 visas. Ask for the detailed results. https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/filterlist.php?cfl=
  21. This is going to be embassy specific. Your timeline is not filled out, so there’s no way to know which embassy.
  22. Ok, some other questions to ask yourself: If you were both in the same country, would she be dating you? Is she much more attractive, smart, funny than you are? Are you both about the same age? Did you end up meeting her family? If so, what was their reaction to you? Have you had a conversation about seeing each other exclusively? It might be helpful to share what country your girlfriend is from?
