  1. When we were in the middle of an economic catastrophe where most people weren’t driving to work or traveling.
  2. Again, have you seen popular discontent among democrats with Harris as our nominee? Your only concern is that we have a candidate now that has a better chance at beating Trump. Raskin was working on legislation to enforce the 14th amendment. The Supreme Court ruled that this is the mechanism for enforcing the disqualification of a candidate through the 14th amendment. This legislation won’t pass. I’d be against using the 14th amendment at this point, just like I’d hope you’d be against Trump trying to repeat trying to subvert the election after losing.
  3. Supporting Israel’s right to defend itself while being concerned about civilian casualties isn’t flip flopping, it’s the correct response to living in a complicated world. How would you have handled things differently?
  4. We will never know if the withdrawal from Afghanistan would have gone better under Trump because he didn’t do it. So we will have to agree to disagree.
  5. “The United States produced more crude oil than any nation at any time, according to our International Energy Statistics, for the past six years in a row.” https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=61545
  6. Many/most couples will not have lived together before submitting the I-130, so you should be in good shape with what you have. I think it will be pretty self explanatory. Depending on your circumstances, you might look at direct consular filing to see if you qualify. Definitely worth looking into.
  7. If we are talking about the presidential election, it’s pretty much a binary choice as far as candidates that could actually win.
  8. I don’t understand. I think he is categorically unfit for the office and a danger to democratic norms. What does that have to do with identity politics?
  9. Yeah, inflation has sucked. But that has been a worldwide problem and arguably the US has weathered that better than anywhere else. Seems like inflation has stabilized, but obviously that doesn’t mean prices have gone down. I think that our response to the pandemic economically was probably the right one though. We avoided a major recession and high levels of joblessness. Essentially it spread a little of the pain among everyone as opposed to having the unemployed suffer most. I’d take this recover over the recover from 2008. I don’t see how you can blame Biden/Harris for wars. They can’t control Hamas or Putin. I think it is the right thing to do to support democracies defending themselves, but all the civilians casualties in Gaza make me feel terrible.
  10. When Trump is the other option, I would definitely put myself in that category.
  11. I think a lot of people can get behind school lunches for everyone, but there are certainly other issues that won’t play as well.
  12. Definitely a possibility; I hope that’s not how it will go. Definitely feels like the ticket’s strategy is to win on “vibes” Definitely a possibility; I hope that’s not how it will go. 13. We are all going to get another chance to vote in November. If there are democrats that are not ok with Harris, they will have the opportunity to vote for Trump if they think he is a better option.
  14. You’re probably right. This is why all the republicans complaining about the process feels disingenuous, you all just wish Trump was still running against Biden. Yet many of you had no problem actually trying to disenfranchise democratic voters on January 6th.
  15. She was on the primary ballot with Biden, it’s not like she came out of no where. Republicans are the ones that seem to be complaining. How many democrats have you heard complaining about this? Polls would suggest most dems are on board with the change.
  16. I can assure you that I feel the same way about Trump. It literally baffles me that almost half of this country could bring themselves to vote for this man. You all had a chance in the primary to pick someone else and instead you pick the one person who could potentially lose to Harris/Biden.
  17. You don’t have to believe the mainstream media, you can listen to people from your own party. “Some Republicans gave up on winning the African American vote, looking the other way or trying to benefit politically from racial polarization,” Mehlman said, according to his prepared remarks. “I am here today as the Republican chairman to tell you we were wrong.” https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2005-jul-15-na-bush15-story.html
  18. This seems pretty good to me. Do you have a valid driver’s license or one you could renew online? Are you registered to vote? If you have kids, are they registered for school?
  19. Just to clarify, your case currently says “refused,” right? What evidence have you put together for re-establishing domicile?
  20. I can’t see a problem with this. I guess it would be if you somehow are breaking some local law/doing something unsafe. I can’t imagine anyone ever finding out about it either.
  21. I’d argue that the core of the Republican Party since Nixon and the southern strategy has been white identity politics. Trump has brought it to another level.
  22. Do you think that these interviews are representative of how most people in the Bronx feel?
  23. Yes, if you and she are paying payroll taxes she could eventually qualify for social security and medicare. She would need to work for 10 years (40 quarters) to qualify. It looks like she could buy into Medicare if she doesn’t reach the full 40 quarters. https://www.medicare.gov/basics/costs/medicare-costs
  24. I think the consulate may also believe that your brother is “working” here by caring for your mother. This could be an obstacle for a B visa.
