    You might check if you have any additional WhatsApp history in iCloud or Google Drive backup. Probably won’t be everything, but maybe at least more evidence.

    I think having a joint sponsor as back up is always smart. My wife and I ended up using assets, but at first the IO misread my financial documents and thought we didn’t have enough. My wife had my parents’ I-864 as back up.

    Hmm…they still have a USCIS field office in Nairobi, so they should be pretty good handling DCF.

    Many embassies don’t do a lot of DCFs. In my case the embassy didn’t issue me a case number because they were accustomed to NVC handling that. It is possible that there aren’t interview slots open for you yet, but it is also possible that somebody in the embassy missed a step because of they are unfamiliar with this process. Do you have an email address for the embassy as opposed to technical support? Hopefully someone with experience at the Nairobi embassy will chime in.

    Hmm…I guess you can always try contacting the embassy to check. Your deadline isn’t 9/30 of this year is it? If so, I’d imagine they’ll be in contact soon. Did she apply before you were married? I know in Ghana they are often skeptical of marriages that happen after someone has won the DV lottery. If this is the case, maybe that’s part of the extended delay.

    Yes, IR-1 is for people who will enter US after their two year wedding anniversary.

    You submitted the documents through DHL? I would definitely send an email to the address above. My experience is that it may take a couple of weeks to get an answer. This is an IR2 visa? If you don’t hear back, have your family in the US contact their congress person or senator to inquire on your behalf.

    I’m not familiar with the Accra answers form. Maybe try emailing the embassy at IVAccra@state.gov. What does your status say on ceac and when was the last update?

    Hmm…I think all embassies can still accept DCF at their discretion. Moving for a job that starts with short notice is one example given where an embassy might still except DCF. https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-6-part-b-chapter-3

    Do you have a residence permit where you live? If you were married and had a job offer that required moving with short notice, you might qualify for direct consular filing, which can significantly reduce how long it takes to get a visa. It’s something you should at least be aware of.

    Fair or unfair, it seems that large age gaps are more of a problem when the female petitioner is older than a male beneficiary. The most important piece in overcoming any doubts about the validity of a relationship is time spent together in person. On a side note, look into the differences between K1 and CR-1 visas. Many people on this forum would tell you that the CR-1 is by far superior.

    It’s been a while, so I don’t know if things have changed, but we did everything through the ustraveldocs website: https://www.ustraveldocs.com/gh/en/immigrant-visa/. I think the account you have there to set an interview will also be the same one for the courier service. They (DHL) are a lot easier to get on the phone than the embassy, so we called over to ask them if they had my wife’s travel documents, then sent a friend to pick them up when they were ready.

    We have sent petitions in for my wife’s mom and two of her sisters. Her mom will petition her minor brother once she gets here. It all just takes sooooo long.

    My understanding is that you can get a “federally non-compliant” license.     Maybe reach out to your congress person or senator’s office to see if they can enquire on your behalf.

    I’d recommend contacting your congress person. They were able to make sure my mom got her passport the day before she traveled.

    Hmm…I don’t know how often their system changes, but I know not that long ago we were able to get a live agent for scheduling an appointment for an I-551 stamp. What are you trying to do?

    We did DCF and filed only two weeks after our wedding, so I don’t think it being a recent wedding would be an issue. I wonder if the embassy would confirm if they’d accept your petition before actually getting married… We were lucky that they still had USCIS offices abroad when we did ours, and didn’t need to worry about exceptional circumstances.
