Oh dear god... did you guys see that they just pushed inquiry dates back for EAD and the travel document? It's now saying 6.5 - 8.5 months for EAD and 6 - 8 months for the travel document. My fears have come true... I think our case (and many others) will soon hit 200+ days. UGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!! This is just cruel. We're currently on day 192 and counting. I can't believe this. 😡

From what I've heard, the USCIS part of the application isn't affected by shutdowns, but any dependency on external agencies, such as the FBI for background checks, is affected.

Really disappointing for everyone who's missing trips :(. I was hoping to go to my mum's wedding this coming weekend, thinking that filing in October with processing times at 4-6 months meaning I should have been working around March. At least we didn't book any flights yet, so there's no monetary loss, and we're planning to go back to the UK in September around my wife's birthday, but this is something that I really didn't want to miss!

I'm sorry it's getting so close to your cutoff date for buying tickets for your flight. I can definitely relate to your frustration as we just missed a trip back to England in early May because we still haven't heard a word on our case. As I had mentioned in this forum before, my husband was supposed to be the best man in our friend's wedding in Devon, and we were supposed to play music during the ceremony... that didn't end up happening, of course, so we decided to take a road trip down to Austin to visit my parents, and then we drove all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico to spend some time at the beach. We were pretty upset to miss such an important wedding, but I think it definitely did us some good to get away for a bit. (It also helps that I work remotely for my job, so I didn't miss out too much on making money in the meantime!). I would definitely recommend taking some road trips in the meantime to try and take your mind off things a bit! 😊

I love that you took the time to write all those letters as well. (We may need to do that too at this point!) They don't give us much of a say in any of this, so being proactive and writing letters to congressmen is a great way to hopefully speed things along and to feel a bit more empowered in the meantime. Also, I full-heartedly support you being the new USCIS director! They should just hire all of us, and we'd get things moving along in no time! 😂

It's an appointed position, but I believe the senate has to approve the nominee. I just wrote an addendum to my letters about how processing times have increased a month and a half since I printed the originals. This puts Matt's earliest inquiry date at July 18th- 251 days after our PD. I may add a second addendum to my Trump letter asking to have my name thrown into his list of potential people. Better to have someone who is aware of the issues first hand, right?

I think its either an excuse or she's misinformed. My money is on misinformed due to it all being shrouded in mystery. Their own employees don't know whats going on.

I'm truly concerned about you guys and when I saw you posted I got excited thinking it was finally good news.
After reading, I couldn't help but laugh at your new job opportunity.
Even if is not an election based position, I vote for you! 🙌

We were also planning a trip to the UK end of June and early July, but I'd now say there is a less than 5% chance we will be going. There are 13 days left before the cut off date I gave for buying tickets. We also thought 7 months would be a reasonable amount of time.

We did just just back from the Black Hills of South Dakota last night (1700 miles driving in three days). I've told Matt that if we don'g get to go to the UK, we can do some weekend trips to Omaha, St. Louis, Branson, and maybe Denver. Then, hopefully by October he'll be able to leave the country and we can spend our first anniversary there.

I did write a letter for both my senators, and my congressman about processing times. I think that since the NBC is in Missouri, and they represent Missouri at the federal level they should all feel embarrassed by the amount of time its taking to process these cases. I really tried to hit that point as hard as I could. I also typed "legal" before the words immigrant and immigration every time to try and help emphasize that as well. I even printed out a copy of the letter for Trump. Maybe he'll make me the new USCIS director 😂

Hello everyone. I’m Nikki. It seems like I should start posting in here now. I’m an October filer (PD is October 19, 2018)  Most people from my group have received either their EAD or Green Card by now. I was left behind. I’m at Day 219. I had my Green Card interview in Baltimore 19 days ago. Interview seemed to go well. We laughed, had light, friendly banter. He asked some questions about our relationship. (My husband and I have been together since 2014, traveling back and forth from Canada & US visiting each other, going on trips together, building our relationship.) At the end of our Green Card interview, he said “Your case will be sent for further renew and if you don’t hear anything back in 120 days, you can file an inquiry, but I can’t see it taking even half that time.”

We haven’t heard anything back yet. Case status is “Interview Was Completed and My Case Must Be Reviewed.”

Regarding EAD...no word on it. So far I have reached out to our Congressman for help (he got a generic response back from USCIS which just said our case was under the jurisdiction of the NBC - which we already know) I’ve been trying to submit a case inquiry online for 12 days after my case finally qualified for an inquiry because I was out of normal processing times and every time I tried to submit it, I got a response back stating “Your application or petition is currently within the posted processing times. An inquiry may not be created at this time. Further information about recent processing times can be viewed on the uscis.gov webpage.” Even though I was 12 days past the normal processing date. I know they’ve since moved the date from October 31 back to September 17, but while I was out of normal processing times, it wouldn’t let me submit an inquiry anyway.

I’ve also submitted a Case Assistance Request to the Homeland Security Ombudsman. Got a generic email response back saying they received my email, but nothing else. (I don’t expect to hear anything from them either)

I’ve called USCIS so many times. They are always so cold, rude, short & condescending. I have such a hard time understanding WHY people who’ve applied far after me, already have their EAD (some for months now) and I don’t. I understand all cases are different and once a case is opened, the processing time can vary for many reasons...but HOW does a case with a PD way after mine even get looked at before mine in the first place?? USCIS wont shed any light on this, or help me try to understand this process whatsoever. The last lady I spoke with suggested I try to expedite my EAD, so she sent a request. I don’t really know what I’m going say in the letter I send to
them, because my husband makes a great salary and can easily support us both. But the truth is...I’m slowly falling into a depression. I have worked my whole life, left my job of 12 years as a fraud investigator when I moved here 10 months ago. I feel like my independence has been stripped away from me. I can’t visit my family, contribute financially in any way to our household, and it’s been really hard for me the past 2 months especially. I got overly joyous when our interview was scheduled, but when we didn’t get an on the spot approval like I see soooooo many people get, I took it really hard and cried for days on end.

We planned a huge wedding back home in Canada for October 2019. We thought 13 months was plenty of time, but now I’m very scared. Time is running out and I insist on paying for the wedding myself, as my husband has done sooooo much over the last 10 months. Sorry this post was so long, and if you’ve made it to the end, thank you. I am strutting really hard emotionally. I figured I would move here to the November feed so I don’t feel so alone as most of my October group are happily enjoy all that this country has to offer with their EAD or Green Card. I can usually find a way to accept things that I can understand, and I’m usually very strong emotionally, but I cannot for the life of me understand how this process is fair. They claim to work cases in the order they receive them, but I am proof that this is not true. I feel trapped, held hostage, and brutalized by this process. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

Ugh, I'm so sorry. This is truly just ridiculous and disgraceful. I'm outraged about this -- just as many people are, and I hope this won't affect us November filers too terribly much.

On a lighter note, I did see that a fair amount of November filers got approved today (not sure if they were on VJ or not), but at least there has been some movement in our month. Just because they've officially pushed the dates back doesn't necessarily mean we'll all have to wait until we hit 8.5 months to hear anything (hopefully!). I'm seriously hoping we'll all hear some good news way before that! 🤞

As sucky as these delays are, part of me is relieved that by pushing these dates back, they're at least basically admitting to being behind, as opposed to pretending everything is fine on their end. Don't get me wrong -- these delays are ridiculous and are just plain cruel, but I'm kind of relieved they're not pretending everything is hunky dory anymore. 🤷‍♀️

Just want to share my experience guys, this morning my husband wakes me up and gave a letter to me. I'm half awake but when i saw the USCIS logo
I quickly get up from bed and carefully opened the envelope. I thought it's an RFE but surprisingly it's NOT! It's our Interview Notification Letter. Thank GOD! 😂
Literally, I cried when I saw it. 😂 This is it! After a long long wait. I'm just wondering co'z everyday I'm checking my Case Tracker App and it's still the same no update at all.
So for me the Case Tracker App is not reliable.
By the way I'm on my 183 days but still I didn't received my Combo Card.
Hoping for more  approvals & case progress to my co Nov fillers. As my husband always says " There's light at the end of the tunnel."❤️

It’s awful. I’m actually shocked.. we could’ve submitted by Friday next week, so now it’s like.. ummmm.. ? 😕 I’m just so annoyed because all I want to do is drive, just have some sort of freedom. Financially we’re doing great on just my husbands paycheck (more money would be fantastic ofc) but I just wanna do some stuff by myself. It’s so so frustrating...

I am crossing my fingers that this won’t affect us Nov’s too much. But I don’t have much hope haha.

You’re not wrong! It’s actually pretty appalling. If they’re this behind they should be hiring more people or find some sort of larger long term solution than making people wait for THIS long. It’s absurd!

Maybe they want people to go for spousal visas rather than fiance?

Whatever the reason, they're certainly overwhelmed. Therefore the illogical timelines -some waiting 90 days while others wait over 200-, plus those awful mistakes we've seen them commiting.

Sometimes I truly wonder what goes on in those offices.

    * Many processing times vent ALERT *

I knew and predicted this was going to happen last month once they started their push backs. I am so sorry this is happening. It's utterly disgraceful! Hopefully it won't impact prompt approvals for Nov approvals from here on in.

It's clear as I have banged on and on again about (like a broken record on VJ and even to my husband) that the NBC can't cope which clearly is again evident in all these push backs. Like seriously...how much longer can these push backs continue?! What's next 7-9 months processing???????? - just makes me so angry considering how much I know people need their EAD/AP's!

Everyone waiting is in my thoughts and I really hope you all get your combos super super soon!!!! ❤️

Honestly, they should expedite K1's AOS automatically. We wait almost a year to move -some even more- just to wait again, praying we won't be the ones left behind.
They already have LOTS if not all information about us. Further scrutiny could happen at local level, not at NBC.

So we have finally decided to submit an "expedite" on our EAD after reading through the January, February, and March forums. Its just so crazy how many people have gotten quick responses and have been able to start their lives finally while we have been stuck in limbo for 192 days. The USCIS woman seemed nice and felt bad for our situation BUT that's all well until we actually submit everything and see if they approve it. So hopefully this helps and sets a fire under our case and they realize the urgency... Fingers and toes crossed this helps!
