I met my fiancée in 2016 on a little singing app called Smule (just like Jon and Rachel from 90 Day Fiancee). She joined a group I was in and I thought she was stunning...visually and vocally! But she lives in Russia...so I kept her at arms distance. I didn't want to get caught up in a relationship with someone who lives 6,000 miles away. We naturally gravitated toward each other and the chemistry was just there. There was nothing I could do about it. 😉 After several months of talking, flirting, whatever you want to call it, I invited her to meet me in the UK as I was heading there for 3 weeks of vacation and travel. She wasn't able to make it (she said it was difficult to get a visa...but I thought perhaps she had cold feet). She then invited me to meet her and her family in Greece for their vacation. That decision was easy and difficult at the same time. We could keep video chatting with each other every day and have all those butterflies in our stomach about the "what if's"...or we could finally meet in person. But what if we meet in person and there is no real chemistry...then the fun we were having disappears. Well...my entire family was so supportive and said "do it!" so I did. I booked my flights and hotel on a Tuesday and on that same Thursday I was off to Greece to meet this woman from Russia that I fell in love with on a singing app!
Though we had been speaking for over a year, we had only spent 6 days or so in each others company before I knew I want to marry this amazing woman! Three months later I settle on a ring and asked her mother's permission for her daughter's hand in marriage. She happily gave it. Our next trip was December 2017, just 3.5 months after we first met in person. It was there, in Copenhagen, Denmark, that I got down on one knee and proposed at Trivoli Gardens. I did not want to enter 2018 without putting on a ring on her finger and committing myself to her for the rest of my life.
Additional trips took us to Cyprus in April/May 2018 just before we submitting our I-129F application; Rhodes, Greece in September 2018 (our one year anniversary), and finally Russia in December 2018/January 2019. Our application was approved in November, 165 days after receipt. We are now pending our Interview and her an our son's move to the United States!
