Well the interview went really well and the guy told me everything was in order and to watch the mail. :D Sooo guess what APPROVED!!!!

    Congrats!

My husband asked and she said she couldn’t say anything but that she thought we were awesome so 🤞

A couple of hours later I got the texts about the updates, the case is complete, needs to be reviewed and we’ll get a notice (but this is normal, right?). I can’t wait!

Well my husband and I are getting ready to check out of our hotel and head over to the immigration office for our interview in 2 hours. My poor husband was so nervous he got sick. I have him fixed up now. I told him we have what we have and wont offer up extra unless they ask. He is worried because he no longer makes enough to support me but I filled out the supporting household form thing as I make more than enough so we will see. We have a sponsor lined up if we need one.

We got our interview today, I expected I would be nervous but I wasn’t nervous at all and I think the interview went great! And I think that being calm really helps, I wish your husband feels better and I hope that your interview was as great as mine!!

  3. Well, I finally have my interview tomorrow! I’m not really nervous but I hope that “my” field officer is nice!

I’m bringing a photo album, letters that we wrote to each other, postcards from two friends, proof that we just refinanced our car and both our names are on it, the Verizon bill showing we’re on the same plan, bank statements, a copy of two credit cards that we’re both on, a letter from my father in law and, of course, our daughter’s birth certificate.

Today has been a long day and I’m pretty tired so I hope I can rest well tonight and hopefully tomorrow will be a nice day in Baltimore!

    Crossing my fingers!!!!

    I think that’s good enough!!

What do the statements from your father say? I’m curious because I’m also living in family property and it didn’t occur to me to bring a statement saying so!

Got my interview notice in the mail today. My interview is in Denver on November 8th at 1:15pm.

Hey, how long it’s been since the “we are ready to schedule your form for an interview” email? I know it depends on the office but I’m curious, I just got that one and the EAD card one last week. I got an RFE that’s why it took that long for me...

  6. Well, I finally got to submit a service request a week ago (thank god I didn’t wait  because the processing times changed again!) and there hasn’t been an updated date on my 765 but I just got a text and an email saying that there’s been an update on my 485, they sent a Request for Initial Evidence on July 5th. I wonder what they’re requesting for... at least it’s something, right?

    188 days and counting.

Sorry for the stress and not getting the EAD till now take a deep breath it shall be well,

Like A&H suggested, I would have either your husband call back and inquire for you, or call back yourself and request an expedite for financial and humanitarian reasons. You could try to explain to them that you just had a baby and without the EAD you are not able to drive and go do medical visits and all and it is hard for your husband to always take off work to drive you.

Also google to find out who is your senator and congressman and contact them both, you just google for example: senator + your zip code

It will tell you who he/she is, and how to get in touch.

I believe you fill out a form and they do the inquiry on your behalf. You can explain on the form the urgency of your EAD because without it you cannot get a Drivers License, insist on it. Hopefully you have representatives that will help, it is not always the case so be ready either way. If there is a phone number you can also call and try to get them on your side and hopefully help you out.

Hang in there, better days are coming and Congrats for the baby :)

    Thank you!!

So yes, I made my husband call but they asked for me to verify that everything was legit so I didn’t get much, the agent explained to me that I’m still within processing times because I’ve been waiting for 5 months and 3 weeks and I’d need to wait at least another week to be outside of the normal processing times and then I could submit a service request. I also

mentioned to expedite it due to humanitarian reasons but he said to wait another week so I’ll call next week. Oh, he also said that those processing times are updated once a month so there could be another delay, I guess.

In the meantime I’ll try to contact our senator or the ombudsman office and see if that helps.

I’d like to say that “hopefully I’ll get it this week” but every time I say that I jinx it. I don’t understand how they can be such a mess...

    Hey,

Get the petitioner to call and speak calm and relax, you are sleep deprived and tired. Also seems you got a grumpy T2 agent who did not want to discuss anything. Get petitioner to call and say i485 is waiting for an interview and mention you need your i765 asap to drive especially now have a baby and need to drive to xyz, give a good story. Try to never call USCIS when you are sleepy/tired/bitter/angry. That is your best shot, after that may be time for your spouse to call their congressman.

I’ll make him call right now, he’s on his day off!

I hope it helps somehow, I’ve been waiting for almost six months now and even though I cannot work right now with a baby this feels

    so frustrating!

Well, I just hung up. The normal processing times for my office is between 13 and 35 months so I’m good.

Allow me to go to my corner and cry for a title bit.

So I had a baby and I’m sleep deprived and I gave the receipt number for my 485, so I called again and asked about my 765 and she told me that the inquiry date is an estimate and not a guarantee and that I should try again in another 30 days.

So I’ll go back to my corner.

What would you guys do? I’d really like to get my EAD and my SSN and god, I do need a driving license...

Hi @Julia80! I've got the same "changes" two days ago on my AP and EAD case numbers. I thought it was a glitch (I use USCIS app) but let's hope they're looking at our cases. I'll keep you guys informed.

I also have those changes in the app,but then I check with the website to make sure (in my case is that they received, assigned and processed my change of address - I moved twice...).

I follow the discussion in the December 2017 AOS. I'm not sure if these folks are AOS-ing after K1, but some that filed in early December have been approved for GCs already. I don't know if the timeline is comparable to those of us adjusting from other statuses. That part really confuses me. Do K-1s AOS have a different timeline than everyone else?

I don’t know, I was just referring to the USCIS processing times, but I saw that the times they have published now are from December, so in December they were processing the October submissions.

Does anyone have any advice on filing taxes?

I want to file our taxes jointly, however, i'm not sure I can without the EAD/SSN. Does anyone know if it's necessary to have that?

The deadline for taxes is April 15th, just hoping this EAD comes before then

I’m a January filer but our plan is to file jointly, we called to the IRS in January to ask about this and the guy we talked to told us that we should file for a tax extension (before April 15th, we’ll be doing it this month) and then we can file our taxes later on when I get my SSN.

There’s another way, requesting a TIN number but he said that since I already requested a SSN this was the way to go plus  I wouldn’t be assigned a TIN number since there’s a request pending for me.

I’m just lurking a little bit, seeing how good are you guys doing, but I definitely can’t keep my hopes up on getting my EAD soon, huh? Lol.
