  1. As helpful as VJ community is and to which I owe a great deal I will also stress that at times answers are difficult to receive in a straightforward manner. Below sums up your situation. 1) Overstay, illegal work and everything else (except criminal activities) are forgiven to US citizen's immediate relatives. I would not worry about this at all. 2) You could potentially try to expedite I-765 based on extreme hardship but that is difficult to do. P.S amended my original comment since I missed that they filed in March.
  2. @Mike E @Crazy Cat Based on the tracking number my lawyer gave me she mailed my package to the PO Box in Carol Stream, IL but below is what is shows today. I assume USPS delivers it the next day or the USCIS picks it up? "CAROL STREAM 500 FULLERTON AVE CAROL STREAM IL 60199-9997 May 29, 2023, 6:16 am" " Your item arrived at the CAROL STREAM, IL 60197 post office at 6:16 am on May 29, 2023 and is ready for pickup. Your item may be picked up at CAROL STREAM, 500 FULLERTON AVE, CAROL STREAM, IL 601999997.
  3. They need a B2 visa. I usually draft my folks 2 paragraphs before they travel. They print it and show it at the border. The content is usually as simple as why they are coming, how long they will stay and the contact info in case someone has to get in touch with me. as for navigating through airports, get them roaming and call when needed to guide them. this worked every time. Eventually they learned it all themselves.
  4. Thanks for sharing it! That what my attorney did. I think the rationale is that don't send something unless it is specifically asked to do. This avoids any unnecessary scrutiny of your documents. On the flip side you run the risk of getting an RFE or delay. I think it is always good to err on the side of caution and provide more rather than less. At this point my application is in. I think I will be fine. The last journey to never have to deal with the USCIS again!
  5. I agree with you and wanted to send taxes with my application. At the same time I did not push on it since she is the expert and gets paid for it. I really hope my case goes as well as her other N400s. experiences vary largely. My other friend who naturalized sent nothing except the GC copy and brought nothing to his interview. He even forgot to include employment info and apparently the interviewing office joked about it and asked him to help fill in at least something. He got approved on the spot. Like you said USCIS rules vary wildy..
  6. I don't disagree at all. It makes complete sense that one would. I did for all my other applications so I am familiar with it. my attorney who is very reputable in the area and has recently done hundreds of N400s did not send any taxes. She says the local office never asked them and doesn't really look at them. I am going to bring them to my interview. I mentioned it to her but she said we did not need it during filing. I guess she gets paid to do her job so I did not object. This attorney is the same one who handled my I-751 WAIVER case and I got approved without an RFE or interview. I trust her way..
  7. Doesn't the Transcript part apply only if one took 6+ month trip outside of the country?
  8. Same here. I-751 took 28 months and two driver's license renewals. Thank god that is behind.
  9. Makes sense to me. Thanks all for weighing in.
  10. Makes sense. I already have tax transcripts downloaded from the IRS website except 1 year. For some reason the IRS website only has 4 years of transcripts. I do have a copy of that 1 year when my accountant filed it so that should suffice. I am gonna bring up taxes with my attorney and ask to submit them. I doubt there is any harm in doing so at all. thanks for your insight!
  11. I will talk to my attorney and ask to submit taxes. Why wouldn't USCIS make that a requirement during filing or add it to checklist? It is strange.
  12. Oddly the USCIS website only mentions the GC and marriage certificate under required checklist.
  13. I will update it. Thanks for pointing out. Is it odd that my attorney does not want to submit taxes with online filing? I don't know what the disadvantage can be..
  14. 5 year rule. I had my I-751 waiver case approved last December.
  15. Interesting. Taxes makes sense for my case too. Bona fide marriage documents are irrelevant for me as I already lifted conditions with a waiver case.
  16. Hi All, It is that time for me to file for my last application on my immigration journey. Thank you to all kind folks who have helped and educated me throughout this process! I have an attorney who is filing N-400 for me online. She says that all that is required to upload as an additional document is my marriage certificate. Is this correct? I know that I need 5 years of taxes, 2 photographs and etc.. Do I bring them to my interview once it gets scheduled? How does this work? Thanks!
  17. You are way overthinking this. If asked tell them how long you intend to stay and that is all. Enjoy your travels.
  18. When I had my dog flown to me from overseas the cost was exactly the same as if I flied coach class myself.
  19. My wife (USC) and I (LPR) always go through USC line. If fact, in the beginning I did not since I am not a USC and the CBP told her that next time she should bring me with her. Ever since we go through USC line together.
  20. Your assets will be split the same as any US citizen would in the state in which you are. You have absolutely 0 power over her green card. You said marriage was entered in good faith. Leave this part alone as any spiteful action can be used against you in case of ugly divorce court. If you want a divorce do it and move on. Be prepared to give up 50% of what you accumulated during your marriage. Likely spousal support too if you make much more than she does. Good luck.
  21. "We applied for 485 for my mother while she was in US but since things were not moving and she was near her 6 month stay limit she went back" Doesn't filing I-485 grant an authorized stay? What am I missing here?
  22. There is a big fuss about I-864 on here. I am yet to see a post where someone sued and enforced I-864. Lawsuits are expensive and cases that sued for I-864 in the past are mixed bags. If you are already in doubt of a relationship then what is the point of it at all? Plus you had to convince her to come over... What am I missing here? I respect the comments of all the other knowledgeable and valued members on this platform, however at times these comments very extreme and assume the worst. Rarely I see anyone provide statistics which is and should be your single source of truth. If out of 1000 marriages 2 sued for I-864 and 1 prevailed that should be a pretty good starting point to assess your risk. What could or would be is not a great one.
  23. Makes sense to me. Do you know if the USCIS prefers IRS transcripts over actual copies of filing, meaning 1040?
  24. There would be no change in terms of actual tax numbers (payments or refunds). It is a simple error. I guess I will amend it and call it a day. My only concern is if I get asked to have a knowledge of claiming to be a US citizen on N400... I'd have to answer yes.
