  1. Back in November of last year, it arrived 45 days after POE. Came thru LAX
  2. Normally when you pick up your visa, it will have a website and number you enter to pay your fee. I paid the fee for my stepsons visa from my phone in the post office where we picked up the visa in the passport from the embassy. Took no more than 3 minutes, and when he came thru POE the office verified the address you want the green card mailed to, and lets you know if the fee has been paid or not.
  3. As long as you are working there on a valid Visa, and can prove valid status, you can interview wherever you want. and if you have been there more than 6 months, look into how to obtain the police report from Bahrain, then time it so you have it a few months before interview.
  4. Very true. Though I have found that anyone getting married on a K1 I usually do, more than your traditional marriages seem more comited to making it work. I think everyone I've married is still together as far as I know. And I usually here back from them as they continue the immigration journey.
  5. Yes, I am still doing the Free service for anyone who wants to get married in Vegas. We can have the whole process done with certificate in hand in about an hour here in Las Vegas,NV. Probably the fastest place to get married in the US. Feel free to message me if you need more information.
  6. Adding anyone to your insurance is pretty pricey. For exams and birth control I would cash pay it and go to a local planned parenthood. will get you by for a year or so, and then deal with the insurance nightmare later. Planned parenthood is usually really reasonable.
  7. From what I see in the letter you have 2 options. Get the required vaccines and send proof that they are all completed now from the civil Surgeon, as that would remove the inadmissibility they are mentioning, or like they said in the letter , you can file a waiver if you want to go that route. You have to decide what works best for you. The path of least resistance would be to get all the vaccines completed, and submit a new I-693 showing this. Or you can go the waiver route that might take more time like you said. You have to decide quickly as you don't have much time to get everything done one way or the other.
  8. If she got all the vaccines completed now, I would send that in showing she has everything marked complete with a letter stating she didn't have all the vaccines initially because she was trying to become pregnant, but now they are all complete. I wouldn't think you would have to bother with the I-601 waiver if all her vaccinations are up to date and complete now. That is how I understand your post. If you still haven't completed the required vaccinations, then you will have to go the waiver route.
  9. Worth while to get that done on your next visit there. I was able to do most of my stuff stateside at the Thailand embassy in LA to make the process easier in Thailand. Sure it's similar in France. You want to get your marriage registered there because it allows you to open bank accounts, get drivers license, and basically be able to apply for citizenship there if you ever wanted down the line. I fly out to Thailand late November and plan on getting my citizenship finalized while there. My wife who came on a K1 also got her citizenship this past April. As others have said, do the SS office the day she arrives. I arrived in LA on a Sunday night late and drove back to Vegas. Dragged the wife to the SS office at 9am the next morning and applied for her SS card. 13 hours after landing in the US. Don't let the office give you any pushback saying you have to wait a few weeks before you can apply. The Computer updates the moment they enter on their K1 now, 10 years ago you used to have to wait 2 weeks, not anymore. Make sure if they say come back, politely ask them to check the computer, information is there, just government employees tend to like to kick the can down the road whenever they can. Good luck on your journey, I remember when I was in the same place you are. it's going to take some serious patience and studying to get thru it, but it is soooooo worth it in the end.

  11. Come over to Vegas, and I can get you married and a certified copy of your marriage certificate in under an hour start to finish. Monday thru Friday, the days the clerks office is open and I can record the marriage. Birth certificate is another story, but I would just send a copy with the I-485, and make sure you have an original to show for the AOS interview. I send a Certified Original marriage certificate with the wifes 485 when I did it, and copies with the EAD/AP applications with no issues. And when we went to the AOS interview I saw the original marriage certificate as the IO flipped thru the file, couldn't miss the colorful certificate in all the bland black and white copies of everything.
  12. Was at the DMV today with my stepson ( Greencard Holder) he passed his driving test to get his license, and when I was reviewing the license information I noticed she had automatically selected US Citizen for status, and for voter registration had marked Clark ( as in Clark county). Had to make sure she changed his Citizenship, and print out the ineligible to register to vote. They just click and clack away on their keyboard with no regard for screwing someones life up drastically. Definitely good advice to watch everything they do, and make sure you review everything.
  13. Any halfway decent attorney can get the DUI knocked down to a reckless Operation or something. Pay about 7 to 10k in fees fines and other things and the whole thing will disappear. If it's your first offense, might get it down to a parking ticket even.
  14. I have had people apply within a hour of marriage and having certificate in hand, so I would say 2 months is plenty.
  15. What city or country? If Thailand, I would say Snake Farm/ Red cross clinic. Get them all done from start to finish over 6 months for about 100-120 bucks US. Look in her country for any type of Red Cross or similar establishment. They can offer all the vaccines needed at a usually reduced cost.
  16. Nope, Panama, Costa Rica, Columbia, is the closest I came to Ecuador. Costa Rica was interesting, not bad drivers, the mountainous roads and lack of signage was rough there. And the 3000 dollar US deposit for the rental car was a little steep. Guess they assumed you weren't coming back...LOL. only about 1 out of 5 people were able to take the hit on their credit card for the deposit. People trying to use their debit card were getting turned away. It was around 1.1 million dollars in Costa Rica currency for the deposit. Funny thing, the car was only like 10 usd a day rental fee.
  17. I travel between diffierent countries all the time, Left, right side, whatever side you want ( sorry Italy, you are the worst drivers in the world, and I have driven in over 100 countries). Your first time it's about 20 min of terror, then you will be fine. I find it is more difficult when I switch countries to keep the wiper and turn signal actuators straight, Every time I switch I keep hitting the wipers for the turn signals and vise versa for a few days. LOL. Because of the right hand drive to left hand drive switch of the vehicle.
  18. I applied for a Burn permit thru the city to have a 55 gallon drum fire, but they still haven't approved it. They asked what I was burning, and I said USCIS paperwork. They said you will need a permit for a larger burn than a 55 gallon drum, so I wait.......
  19. Pro tip to add to this, I know from experience that the dogs they use are not only looking for drugs as everyone thinks, and they probably are, at LAX I see them in use quite a bit, and one time upon return when I had about 50K cash on me in my carry-on backpack from a car I had sold and transported to Hong Kong, the dog hit on me. Luckily I had already filled out the entry form declaring the cash, but I ended up escorted to the dreaded " Blue Glove" room for many questions and violations of my personal space. So yes, know how much you have on you at all times. If you are traveling with someone you trust, divide the money between you.
  20. Just a note from my experience... The US has no exit checks (no matter if you leave by land, sea, or air), so there is nobody to stop you from leaving the US, as long as the carrier (if there is one) will let you board and the destination country will let you in. Although US law requires US citizens to enter and leave the US bearing a US passport, the law provides no penalty for violating this law, so nothing bad will happen to you if they later discover that you have left the US without a US passport. Just my 2 cents, so take it as you will.
  21. You can travel before you enter the US. My wife now, after she got her K1, we traveled around to at least 3 countries before entering the US. We only traveled around for a few weeks, not 2-3 months, but shouldn't be an issue. Just don't cut it too close, I would make sure you have a month a validity left when you enter to account for flight delays or unforeseen things.
  22. I do weddings all the time here in Vegas. They have a Vow renewal ceremony here that is available to be done. It is basically the exact same thing as a real wedding other than you get a different style marriage certificate than you would get if you were getting married the first time. See the link below. Maybe this is something you can do to appease the wife. Like they say.... " Happy wife, Happy Life" https://weddings.vegas/marriage-services/certificate-of-vow-renewal/
  23. Shouldn't have quit your job. Any unauthorized work is forgiven when you marry a US citizen. My wife flat out admitted to working without a work permit or EAD at the AOS interview and nothing was even mentioned about it. She is now a US citizen.
  24. Feel free to message me if you want to do a quick Vegas wedding, and I'll send you my phone number. Can get everything done in about an hour from license to certificate in hand. And I don't charge for VJ members.
  25. Take what you can get, your the only one that sees it after you use it to get everything updated. My wife's is now in the safety deposit box at the bank. Used it to get her SS status updated, her drivers license updated, and of course for the passport. Now it sits in a box until the end of time, will probably never look at it again. They might have the printer there if you do it at the USCIS office, but I'm pretty sure they are printed in advance from what I saw, and put in the order of appearance when you check in. To be done with USCIS, I would take whatever they gave me and run. That's what I did, rolling out of that lot like I just completed a 20 year prison sentence. And I wasn't the one who naturalized, but I was so happy to be done.
