  1. We looked into that but it in the UK they aren't offering many appointments and can't guarantee he will get an appointment in time. It costs $160 just to apply so seems like a waste if he won't be able to make it by his flight date. Especially without an USCIS receipt yet.

Other issue with the B visa is that they keep his passport - but he needs his passport to travel on another trip before he comes to the US.

I saw the 2-2.5 month processing time for the i-407 but was hoping maybe once it has started processing, he could reapply for his ESTA.

  2. Hi,
My husband got his US greencard a few years ago when we thought we were going to live in the US.  I then got a permanent job transfer to the UK and we have been living there for the last 2 years.

I came back to spend a vacation with my family and my husband is due to join us a few weeks.

He submitted his i-407 form to surrender his greencard more than 30 days ago but when he went to go and apply for his ESTA for a 2 week visit, it got denied (I am assuming as it appeared he still has a greencard).

He hasn't received the receipt of his i-407 form yet (30 days after confirmed mail delivery) and he is due to travel in 3 weeks.

Does anyone have any advice of what to do?  Or how long the processing can take? Or any other options we have?

    Cheers,

    Annabel

i was checking other forum and have seen people getting case number after 65 days. hopefully u will get case this week and its easy once u get your case number.

We waited 9 weeks to get a case number but then when I called, they said I had a new received date of May 29th (not the original March 30) as they had put it in the wrong processing track (it should have been a pivot case but instead it was in the paper case track). They finally admitted that there was a system error that lead to this delay and they are trying to fast track the case number now but we are still at 11 weeks with no case number.

Give them a call and make sure your receipt date is correct so they can escalate to a supervisor if not.

I should've posted it here, first, lol

OMG! So, I called the NVC, just now, to see if I have been given a case number. The first operator told me that my case was sent to CEAC (Pivot Case), and I needed to hang up and press option 5. Did that, and the operator told me that although I was approved April 19th, and the NVC received it on May 2nd, the approximate 8 week countdown starts when CEAC received my case, which was May 9th! She said it was how long it would take to do some data entry on a case...ummm.....what?! The heck you got to type that takes 8 weeks? It's electronic anyways, so let me type it, then, goodness! Just needed to vent, but I'm alright lol :)

Ugh, I feel your pain @LadyTT357!

I called yesterday too as they told me it was not going to take longer than 8 weeks to get my case number (NOA2 March 15th, NVC received it March 30th).  So when I finally called after memoral day weekend, I was only told I still don't have a case number and they aren't sure how long it will take.  My embassy is moving to CEAC but they have no visibility on why it is taking so long and just said to keep calling once a week :( . And then he said it would be 6-7 weeks more processing once they got my files before they pass over to the embassy.

We had really been hoping to move back to the US by August (we have two small children so all live over in Australia together but hoping to move back home to be with my parents) and whilst that seemed like a possibility when we got our NOA2 in March, this NVC process seems to be taking so long and so discouraging :(

  5. Hi all,

I just checked our case via my app and we are approved! And oddly it says we were approved from the 15th of March although it only just updated online. We are living in Australia (I am an American citizen and trying to get a green card for my husband so we can all move back home with our now two kids that we have had whilst living in Australia).

We haven't received the official letter yet though, probably need a bit longer for that to get here.

    PD Aug 17th, NSC

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

  6. Hi,

Has anyone tried or thought about a K3 visa in tandem with the i130?

We got our PD in Aug from Nebraska but now with the processing times getting pushed out so much and us living overseas currently, we are considering trying for a K3 so at least we can move over to the US when that is approved, as opposed to now waiting what could be another year to move back.

If our K3 goes to a different service centre, I think we should be okay but not sure if they all go to the same one? Nebraska is so annoyingly slow!
