Hi!! Can I do an uncontested divorce if my ex husband does not sign the papers? I was going to send a certified mail and I'm sure he is not answering within 35 days - that's the required wait time in NJ court. I really don't want to contact or see him to get the papers signed but I really want to get this done. Thank you.

I have my interview soon and the lawyer who is coming with me is really freaking me out saying they might deny or put my case on hold because I’m not divorced from the abuser. “If he was that bad you would be divorced by now”. Is this true? I didn’t get divorced because I don’t know where my ex is and I was very scared to look after him. My plan was to start dealing with that after I have my document and feel more confident about myself. Please share your thoughts. Thank you I forgot to mention that he is not the lawyer in my case - he is only coming to the interview with me

Do we need to bring our taxes for interview? I never got divorced because I'm scared to contact my ex, but I just realized my last tax was wrongly filled SINGLE by my accountant Is this a problem??? I'm so nervous

That is what happened to me as well. I remember we even chatted about it. My Vawa ended up being approved in September 2023 and I did get the card and the approval letter - I'm a November 2017 filler! Still haven't gotten the GC. My I485 did not move since vawa approval

Good morning! I have decided I'm going to send my medicals without them asking. I literally sent my files in November 2017, I'm so over this process. It took almost 7 years ( I don't know why ) to get my VAWA approved (september 2023), I don't have any court, came with a visa, no criminal record etc So at this point I have nothing to lose by sending my medical lol - when I call USCIS they say the last update was Biometrics done back in September and no other update since then Should I just sent it along with my 485 receipt only or should I write a letter saying more information? Also sometimes I feel like just sending a new I485 with my vawa approval. What do you guys think about that? Thank you

After vawa approval, does Vermont ALWAYS forward the case to another office or sometimes they can review it by themselves? Because that is what an USCIS officer told me and also someone else, that who will process my I485 is Vermont and not NBC or my local office

Thanks! My renewal was sent to Vermont but they forwarded to Texas and I have no idea why. Processing time in Texas is even longer ☹️

Good evening! Which office sends the deficiency letter/medical exam RFE? Vermont or our local office? My vawa got approved in the beginning of October 2023, and last week I went to my local office (had an info pass) - I was sure my file was already in my local office but when I got there the officer told me that my files are still in Vermont, and that Vermont is the one asking me for medical or then if they think I will need an interview they will send to my local office - She seems like she really wanted to help, she went in and out her office couple of times to check but she was positive about my cause still in Vermont and not my local office Does this make sense? I always though they transfer and then my local office is the one deciding if I need an interview or not. She also mentioned that Vermont was already done doing my biometric and going to the next step (which I don't know what it is) What do you guys think? Does it take that long (5 months+) to Vermont transfer the files??

yes my congressman is actively helping me. After vawa approval I’m now technically in the regular processing time so I’m trying to be patient but really wanted to have an idea of how long it should take from vawa approval to 485 decision

@i-need-help-pls That happened to me as well. My case was “approved” online in January 2023. Couple days after it was “reopened”. I never received any approval letter and upon contacting them through my Congressman they were clear that my Vawa was NOT approved. It was only an error in their system. However, last Semptember (2023), it showed approved again online, but this time I DID receive approval letter and C31 work permit. So I’m pretty sure your case is not approved, but hang in there it will be approved soon! I’m a 2017 filer. It’s been a long journey. I’m not waiting on my I485 to move forward and it’s so painful. Haven’t received any RFE regarding Medical exam or interview letter yet. Do you guys have an idea of how much longer it should take? It’s been 5 month since my I360 got approved. Thank you!

What is the COVID vaccine rule for USCIS? I have the 1st, the 2nd and one booster - but the last one (booster) is from more than 2 years ago. I called one USCIS doctor to make an appointment and the secretary said my last vaccine must be less than a year ago. Is this accurate????
