I got an ID without GC..All I presented were forms to help prove residence eg bills and my foreign PP. And same time, I used same to apply for DL. I didn't have GC then.

Why don't you just get an ID???? Really simple and has nothing to do with GC. Take a few bills etc to prove residence and such. Take your PP too. Not sure why you're flashing GC at supermarket...be careful because if it gets lost, you're in for a long ride.
