  1. I have heard that Irving occasionally does same day oath but it was not the case for any of my parents. One had their oath scheduled one week later at the Plano Events Center. The other had their oath scheduled just over two weeks later in Irving, same office where they had their interview. The oath ceremony in the Irving field office was much faster than the one in Plano, but no guest is allowed inside the Irving building. In Plano you can bring your family and friends inside. Hope this helps!
  2. And now both my parents are done with their immigration journey. My August filer parent just had their oath today at the Irving field office. Short and sweet, quite unceremonious but it was smooth and they are glad to be done! All the best to anyone still in the middle of their journey 🇺🇸
  3. Parent passed their interview today. They had to wait for about an hour or so before being called, actual interview lasted ~10 minutes. Status now says they have been placed in line for an oath ceremony. Good luck to all August filers!
  4. Interview scheduled for my parent! Filed 8/1, family-based. Dallas FO. Interview date 10/23 🎉
  5. Oh no! You have been waiting for so long, I hope you can reschedule without issues or perhaps you can reschedule your flight without penalty? 😕
  6. My GC was EB based 5-year but I was divorced and I provided a copy of my divorce decree in my paper application (I naturalized before online processing was available) and also brought a copy of decree at interview. I assume that with online filing it’ll be ok to just bring a copy at the interview.
  7. As OldUser said, it can actually save some time for some applicants (I know not everyone has a fast process). One of my parents applied 90 days before their 5th year anniversary. Well, they became a citizen on their 5th year anniversary, so in that case it helped as they were done much earlier than if they had sent the application past their 5th year anniversary. Again, I know not everyone benefits from it (I applied early too, 5-year rule, and it took me 14 months to become a citizen 😆)
  8. Not in my indirect experience. I know two family members whose interviews were scheduled days before their anniversary date. Their case was not denied and, like @OldUser said, they just had to wait until the anniversary for their oath.
  9. No, case does not get denied. The immigration officer can’t approve the case just yet, and the oath will of course have to be scheduled after the 5 year anniversary date. I know people who got scheduled interviews just before the anniversary date. Their case was not denied.
  10. My parent also shows 4 months’ waiting time now. The day they filed (8/1) it was showing 7 months I believe.
  11. I don’t recall doing that (I filed 2017) I just filled in the table and added an additional sheet because I also had a lot of int’l travel. I brought my passports (current and expired) at the interview with me just in case the officer wanted to see the stamps but he isn’t ask.
  12. Loved your interview story! If it helps and gives you some hope in terms of timelines, my parents filed from Dallas and the process for one of them was just 3 months on the dot (and they were early filers) 4/25 submitted, 7/25 oath. The other just filed yesterday. Theirs is a 5-year application though.
  13. I don’t personally have experience rescheduling interviews but read on this forum that some people were able to reschedule an interview without issues 👍 my other parent filed 4/25 and interviewed 7/18 (oath one week later 7/25) if that helps in any way in terms of timeline. If the timeline is similar you shouldn’t get your interview before November but I would wait mid-month maybe just to be sure.
  14. My parent immediately received the NOA and the biometrics reused notice. Now the interview waiting game begins.
  15. Thanks you and same to you! My parent just submitted this morning. My other parent was an April filer and finished the process in 3 months. Hopefully the process will be as smooth for this one. Dallas/Irving FO
  16. You will be fine. Unless things have changed since I last went through the process (in 2017) USCIS is only interested in trips outside the US in the last five years (maybe 3 years for marriage based but not sure as mine was EB).
  17. One of my parents will file their application early next month
  18. My parent had their oath last Thursday at the Plano event center. There must have been around 500 applicants there, plus thousands of family and friends that completely filled the ballroom; we arrived very early and were the first allowed in. My parent’s ticket was #1! Nice ceremony although when I naturalized in Peoria IL 6 years ago that event was at a stadium and much more majestic their first words after becoming a citizen “I feel relieved, I am no longer a guest in this country!” My cousin naturalized also on Thursday but in another state so it was quite the special day for us. Best of luck to you all on your applications and I hope you can also say you’re finally no longer a guest here! My other parent is planning to file their N400 early next month 🤞
  19. Here is a more detailed second-hand account of how it went this morning. My parent showed up about 20 minutes before the interview time, went through security checks, asked them for their driver’s license; was able to keep their bottle of water with them as well as their phone. The waiting room was quite full, about 50 people were there. After waiting for a little over an hour, the officer called them. Officer was polite. Asked my parent the following civics questions: 1. Who is the President of the United States? 2. Who is your congressman? 3. Name one power of the states. 4. What is the capital of the United States? I can’t recall the other two questions. For the English test, the officer asked them to read out loud a sentence from a tablet: “Who lives in the White House?” Then they asked to write down on the tablet the following sentence: “The President lives in the White House.” The officer remarked that my parent was very prepared for the interview. Then the officer went through the N400 application. For some reason, they didn’t see any answers to some of the radio button questions about criminal background and history, which is strange because the form online doesn’t let you move forward if you don’t answer all questions. But all was clarified at the interview. Officer asked to confirm if my parent had left the US in the last five years (they did not). They also asked a few questions about their past military training from a long time ago. Finally, they were recommended for approval. They were asked to leave the room and wait in the waiting room to receive a questionnaire and other documents to present at the oath ceremony. The officer’s supervisor came out after a few minutes, handed the documents to my parent and personally congratulated them. Oath is scheduled for one week from now. Very pleasant experience apparently in Irving. I hope this helps!
  20. My parent passed their interview today. Had to wait two hours, officer was nice, everything went well. Dallas field office. Oath ceremony in one week: 7/25! 🎉
  21. What Family and OldUser said. Based on the information you shared, you applied for citizenship under the 3 year rule, which makes me think your green card was a conditional, you don’t mention ever applying for the Removal of Conditions. If all of this is true, withdraw your N400 application immediately and hope they don’t investigate further. The government is doing you a favor: based on what you share it looks like you shouldn’t even be a lawful permanent resident in the first place and you could risk deportation.
  22. My parent got an interview scheduled for 7/18 having filed on April 25. In their case I would say they processed the application pretty swiftly, not sure why it takes longer for other Dallas applicants. It may be that my parent’s case is relatively easy, they also never left the country during the last 5 years.
  23. Hi everyone, My parent applied April 25 and today they received a notice that their interview was scheduled. July 18. Good luck to all, they are starting to process the April filers!
