  1. Hi, so I filed an i130 for my dad. He got Visa Interview Appointment at Mumbai on Sept 1. We got his biometric done at Delhi.A s soon as we got that Interview Letter email, we sent my Dad to Mohali Max for Medical Tests. They found some Tuberculosis spots in xray, and mandated him to undergo Sputum Test for TB Bacteria. They also cancelled his Sept 1 Interview Slot. Because we already had travel plans, we still went to Mumbai Embassy, and expectedly they didn't let us enter the embassy. Now, his Sputum Test is clear, negative, no alive bacteria. Hospital said go book an consular appointment. Then we started a new application in US Visa Scheduling.com website, and did a Class N Medical Application Visa, and that gave us a Schedule IV Appointment link. Clicking that link gave us appointment calendar, we booked the earliest, and today we found it was for VAC, not for consulate. What should be out next step now? Scheduling website gives option to close the application and start again. There it will ask us what should be Visa Type? It is IR5.
  2. Applied for Surrender Cert yesterday in person at VFS San Francisco.

  4. Hey, what happened on oath ceremony? Your GC was lost right?
  5. Passport Website (state.gov) specifically warns that none of the websites can guarantee a passport faster than a direct application without using them.
  6. One Thing I realized that actual test is not multiple choice (it will be for future applicants), so we have to say the answers ourselves instead of choosing one from a list.
  7. Interview scheduled in Sacramento Office. See signature for timeline
  8. Agree with everything. Good advice in thread. Only one bit is wrong,: > will have to surrender USCIS Manual & Citizenship Act doesn't agree with above. No need to surrender IF (BIG IF) GC is lost or unavailable. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.f6da51a2342135be7e9d7a10e0dc91a0/?vgnextoid=fa7e539dc4bed010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=fa7e539dc4bed010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCRD&CH=afm https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-k-chapter-3 C. Issuance of Certificate of Naturalization In general, USCIS issues a Certificate of Naturalization after an officer approves the Application for Naturalization and the applicant has taken the Oath of Allegiance.[7] USCIS will not issue a Certificate of Naturalization to a person who has not surrendered his or her Permanent Resident Card (PRC) or Alien Registration Card (ARC) evidencing the person’s lawful permanent residence. If the person established that his or her card was lost or destroyed, USCIS may waive the requirement of surrendering the card.[8] 8 is: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-8/chapter-I/subchapter-C/part-338/section-338.3 § 338.3 Delivery of certificates. No Certificate of Naturalization will be delivered in any case in which the naturalized person has not surrendered his or her Permanent Resident Card to USCIS. Upon a finding that the card is destroyed or otherwise unavailable, USCIS may waive the surrender of the card and the Certificate of Naturalization shall then be delivered to the naturalized person. [56 FR 50501, Oct. 7, 1991, as amended at 63 FR 70316, Dec. 21, 1998; 76 FR 53803, Aug. 29, 2011] (4) Delivering Certificates When the Permanent Resident Card Is Lost . No Certificate of Naturalization will be delivered in any case in which the naturalized person has not surrendered his or her Permanent Resident Card to USCIS. Upon a finding that the card is destroyed or otherwise unavailable, the District Director may waive the surrender of the card and the Certificate of Naturalization must then be delivered to the naturalized person. Since waiver is available, all the OP has to do is get the police report, make sure IO at interview is aware of that and sign whatever USCIS staff asks him to sign. I don't see a reason to waste $400 for something that won't even be produced by the time of interview or oath ceremony and USCIS does not refund money easily. https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/304585-lost-green-card-for-naturalization-interview/?do=findComment&comment=4604422
  9. My Datapoint: applied on 5 year minus 90 days. biometrics same day. Will complete 5 years on Oct 24.
  10. The extensions do not stack. They run parallel. The policy for i751 aloows "now" 48 months & N400 24 months. Lets say the "Card Expires" date on Physical Green Card is Jan 01, 2021. i751 gives 48 months from above date = 4 years = Green card + ROC Letter makes expiry Date Jan 01, 2025 (4 years). n400 gives 24 months from above date = 2 years = Green card + N400 Letter makes expiry Date Jan 01, 2023. (2 Years).
  11. Applied today on 90th day before 5 years PR eligibility; Estimate 10 months, Field Office Sacramento California.
  12. All existing (pending) & new i751 filers will receive 48 months extension letters now. Note: 48 months from C Green Card Expiry Date. Not from filing, not from today.
  13. My experience with 24 months extension (with existing i751 & original 12 months letter) was, I received the 24m letter in about 3 weeks from announcement. I want to say that the letters are automated. The management decides (by looking at data), and in meeting they might have agreed 24m is enough, in next Oh No, at least 36 should be there. Now its like, we need 48 months.
  14. There is not one particular person attached to your case. If your case is waiting for something internally or externally, then its just in the queue. You can talk to customer service, but they will answer whatever is on your online status or website. If you are able to get a tier 2 officer, he will have more access & information, but there is no way that he himself will be working on your case. Call center employee do not work on field office. Tier 2 officers may also not be in field office.
  15. No, your current employer can't ask for new green card. In case of new job or travelling or driving license expiry, the only option is to get an ADIT I551 Stamp from USCIS by appointment. Most of the time stamp 8s good for 6 months, and you can get as many as you need as long as as of current you can show the need. Before covid there was no need to show the necessity of stamp to get one.
