  1. We are at 22 months now. I had expected up to 12 months. Its frustrating as one child got the notification "interview is scheduled" but USCIS 1tier agent says it was a mistake and we are routed for interview scheduling. I am inclined to believe her as no notification showed up in my daughters USCIS account. However, there is this nagging feeling of "what if"? What if it was scheduled but we never received a letter nor was the notification uploaded to her document tab.
  2. I honestly didn’t make this mistake consciously. It was a question pertaining to USCIS notifications and not the n-600 per se. So, I didn’t think this question would fit into the other threat. Anyway, my take-away is that any question, be it USCIS account related or n-600 should for now fall into this threat. I wish we had a n-600 group as we had with our I-130 or n-400 back in the day. One does feel a little lonely out there.
  3. USCIS is now saying they made a mistake and the interview has been requested not scheduled yet. (It's a real cliff hanger. How am I ever going to live a normal life without fretting over USCIS? I may have to apply for a job there.) Seriously, though.
  4. The reason why they are asking this, is because on the day of your naturalisation your child became a US citizen as well if said child was a LPR at the time of your naturalization, in the US, with you having legal and physical custody. It seems USCIS is struggling to determine if your child was with you and in your custody at the time.
  5. APO address is not "Italy" but actually considered to be on US territory if you are on your husbands orders (which you are).
  6. I was able to get a military ID without my social security number. I had to renew my ID every 3 months until the SSN arrived (and at some point, the processing facility just ignored the three months renewal and gave me a four year version). I did hear, however, that military bases have different approaches. NAB in San Diego asked us to wait until my CR-1 is adjucated. However, when my husband renewed his ID at a different office a couple weeks later, he was told that I should make an appointment and come it to get my ID with him asap. Same with different branches. I had to bring our marriage certificate, my international birth certificate and two government IDs.
  7. We used our APO address on some of our communication. The filing documents differentiate between physical and mailing address, if this helps. For my kiddos n-600 package, we used our APO address but USCIS changed it to a family address in the US. Not sure why.
  8. Perhaps I can shed some light into the DCF timelines in Germany: We submitted my children's I-130s on May 2021 via Direct Consular Filing to the US General Consulate in Frankfurt, received a notification to submit the DS 260s in July and were ready for an interview in August. All in all, it could have taken less then 10-12 weeks. This is between submitting the I-130 and having your I-551 stamped into your passport. We slowed down the process a little due to family matters. If the process isn't moving along in the US and the financial situation allows it, perhaps resubmit via Frankfurt? You could immediately start with the process as your LPR status is not considered abandoned while on overseas orders (as long as you are mentioned on his orders). You usually take your passport on base and the passport office provides you with the Sofa card added to your passport if you are submitting a foreign passport.
  9. I have a question regarding a notification on the USCIS account - it states as of Oct 2nd "interview scheduled" but when I called today, I was told, it is in line to be scheduled. Perhaps I am too concerned but I am super worried about missing a letter or notification as everything is being sent to a family member stateside. I had expected the notification document to be uploaded on our USCIS account but it hasn't. Also, the tier 1 agent said, it hasn't been scheduled yet. Has anyone insights into USCIS providing reliable information on this level? Should I approach it differently? I would hate to be calm about the notification believing it will eventually and then accidentally end up missing my daughters interview.
  10. I think, I finally understand. Sorry for the trouble. It is an n-600 question but I thought it is a different question. I’ll keep it all here, though.
  11. Dear community, I received a couple notifications over the last few days: Sep 30 - we are actively reviewing your case. Out records showed nothing outstanding at this time. Sep 30 - Your form N-600 was placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling Oct 2 - We reopened your case and resumed work on it. We will mail you a notice when further action is taken Oct 2 - We scheduled an interview for your form N-600 Oct 2- Case is being actively reviewed by USCIS The messages came in this order. Does this mean we have an interview scheduled or does it imply we are back to administrative processing? I hope someone can help to shed light on this everlasting story of waiting for more than 600 days by now.
  12. In addition to what CrazyCat wonderfully explained and I entirely agree: You could both pursue a proxy marriage for which you do not have to be physically present OR just fly back for two weeks and have an impromptu civil wedding. It would allow you to get started on the immigration journey. One could always have a bigger celebration sometimes later.
  13. I filed the n-600 for both of my children in Jan. 2022. I chose Fairfax as their field office but for some reason got routed to San Diego. Both kids received their LPR status via DCF Frankfurt on my husbands orders. We were stationed overseas. Both kids received their passports soon after activating their LPR (within six weeks of their application). The n-600, however, really worries me. We neither received a biometrics appointment nor any communication beyond the notice of receipt. I did inquire about their current status in May and simply received an email saying the application is pending. Should I just be more patentiert as this is probably not on the priority list of USCIS or should I contact our congressman? Is this cause for concern? I know we just have one shot at filing for the n-600 and I have these moments in which I am wonder if I made a mistake.
  14. Actually it is almost 16 months now while the average processing time should be around 12 months in Washington DC. So it went down from 14 months to 12 months but we have yet to hear anything at all.
  15. I am surprised about the wait. It has been over 15 months now without an appointment for biometrics or an interview invite. Our USCIS office is Washington DC, by the way. Would it be possible they mailed a physical letter but we never received it? However, if so, wouldn't we see the electronic version uploaded on my children's USCIS account? I wish the USCIS anxiety would get any better at some point but really, it doesn't.
  16. No, my husband petitioned their Greencard and they received their US citizenship upon entering the US as I am a US citizen. But they are not his biological children - a CNBA wouldn’t be the right avenue to proceed. Although this isn’t relevant to my initial question, my husband petitioned them as we were able to file through the consulate here (DCF) rather than USCIS stateside, if I had petitioned them.
  17. The WorldBank is, as far as I know, not an US government civilian post overseas. I would ask the WorldBank HR department. They should probably now and verify whether or not this can be seen as a military/GS order. I know foreign service would qualify.
  18. Being overseas and on official orders (military or government service) should not break your residency. Please check! your status while overseas but I think you should be fine.
  19. I am getting a little anxious. I filed two n-600 applications for my children in January 2022. Our field office seems to be Washington DC. My children received their citizenship through INA 320 § 1431 (a) and (c) while under my husbands orders overseas. I am wondering why we haven't even gotten a biometrics appointment? It doesn't seem to move along at all despite the official processing times stating that 80% of the n-600's are processed within 14 months. Shouldn't we be, at least, getting a biometrics appointment? So far, all we have is a receipt notification but not an acceptance letter. We are still overseas, albeit no longer under military orders. After some up and downs we are planning to move to the US sometimes later this year.
  20. Mike, what is meant by single intent versus dual intent? Asking because I love to know and I wasn't able to make sense of it. Do you mean K1 being the "proper" way and dual intent meaning residency and work? I am probably asking a dumb question.
  21. Dear all, I may ask a very dumb-for-comfort-question here but one of the last few posts I was reading made me concerned. So here we go: I naturalized in 08/2020 while stationed overseas with my husband in my home country (Germany). My husband got orders to Germany literally just as I was holding my green card in my hands. My children had wanted to finish school in Germany and my plan was to commute between the US and Germany while waiting for my kids to finish middle school. (In case someone is surprised why my husband didn't petition them right away). But I never had to commute because my husband had, unknowing to me, asked to get stationed overseas and one of the places he asked for was Germany. So we never really left but he moved in with us as we live right next to the base he got orders. As his tour was drawing to an end, he petitioned my children so that we could all move to the US. The kids received their green card in 12/2021 and because I was already a US citizen, they naturalized immediately under INA 320 § 1431 (a) and (c). He retired in 01/2022 - and this was a really close call. We were really appreciative and so happy! Fast forward to 06/2022, he moves to the US ahead of us. The kids and I arrive in 08/2022 and he tells me in 10/2022 he wants a divorce ( I work remotely and thankfully never lost my job plus we still had our house in Germany). Here is my question: When my son will go for his n-600 interview - will my children's n-600 be scrutinised because my husband asked for a divorce (we are still not divorced) while they are in the process of waiting it? The do have a IS passport and my children finally got their SSN after months of waiting. Am I worried too for no reason?
  22. I just called USCIS as 13 months have passed and still do not even have a biometrics appointment. Now, perhaps they use the data on file for biometrics but everything has been super silent since receiving the receipt/acceptance letter. Still no news but the nice agent on the phone mentioned we are associated with the Washington DC field center.
