  1. (N-600 for my children- waiting on their processing for more than two years by now - field office San Diego) I am at loss. After more than two years of waiting and about 13 months exceeding regular processing times, my son just received a message from USCIS: "We have received and approved your request for your interview to be rescheduled. Your application has been placed back in queue for interview rescheduling at a USCIS field office. Once an appointment is available, your interview will be rescheduled". Fact is, we never asked for a rescheduling. Is this a template answer for something else? We do our regular "out of normal processing times" inquiry every three months but definitely never asked to reschedule anything. We have been waiting for an interview for so long, it is such a tease. My daughter received the notification that an interview notice had been mailed out in October but then never received an invitation. USCIS then claimed it was an error on their behalf. What do I do now? And even better, how would I be able to get in touch with USCIS about this as their service agents are not helping at all.
  2. I faced the exact same question about 3 years ago. We went the N-600 route but their cases are still being processed. The immigration lawyer I talked to confirmed N-600 was the right choice and State Department actually suggests the N-600. Your child acquired his citizenship when you naturalized. N-600K would not be the right choice.
  3. She does not need a re-entry permit as long as she is under her husband's military orders overseas. OP: I would reach out to USCIS by calling their military hotline. Washington DC field office handles many if not most military families. Perhaps ask to have it transferred to their office if at all possible. My I-751 was requested by Washington DC once I filed my N-400. However, I do believe the naturalisation process triggered the file request (which took 4 weeks for one field office to mail it to the other if I recall correctly). I then had a combo interview and both I-751 and N-400 were approved on the same day. My husband did not need to join us but it would have been difficult with all the quarantine regulations and travel limitations in 2020.
  4. I just talked to a lawyer about the N-600 filing at being IN the US… The day of naturalization matters not the date of filing the N-600 for eligibility. But USCIS are not necessarily lawyers according to the lawyer.
  5. I hired a lawyer and we are in the process of filing a writ-of-mandamus. So frustrating. As if the process isn’t expensive and nerve wrecking enough… but who am I to complain - so fahr we had been really blessed and this is our first hiccup in almost six years of immigration experience.
  6. Sorry if this may be a stupid question but since my children had neither a biometrics appointment nor an interview, wouldn’t we force USCIS’s hand into denial? Or would the result be to take action and finally interview my kids?
  7. I am really torn on what to do. I reached out to the congressman and have also contacted an immigration lawyer. The latter suggesting a writ-of-mandamus but I am honestly so undecided. Isn’t the writ-of-mandamus too extreme? Then again we are 15+ months and counting above average processing times. So far, I haven’t heard back from our congressman either. It’s so hisheartening.
  8. I am not sure what you are referring to when pointing out custody? Where are your children and who are they residing with? I am currently trying to get the N-600 for my children and have been waiting for more than two years by now. Unfortunately, we ended up getting our case directed to San Diego which seems to be overwhelmed according to a lawyer. I am still waiting for our congressman to find out more but -alas- been waiting for what feels like forever. Side note, since when is MikeE inactive and why?
  9. We are considering to move out of state but I am concerned this may delay the interview scheduling way more than just waiting a little longer in California. Is there a rule of thumb how long it takes for the new case manager to request our file?
  10. It’s been 24. month now. Field office is San Diego. Called a recommended lawyer but she just said USCIS has been extremely busy and focus on employment visa. She said we would have to wait. What I do t understand is how others at San Diego field office get approved around 14 months and we have been stuck on „ready to be scheduled for an interview“ for 4 months now without a RFE?
  11. So annoying. I once had a Social Security employee tell me my kids wouldn’t need a US passport as children under 16 are not considered real US citizens and wouldn’t get one anyway. Not that we would need a SSN for a passport - it was just a random conversation. But seriously???
  12. The child(ren) are already US citizens. So the naturalization already took place when their parents became US citizens. What they would need is a certificate of citizenship (n-600).
  13. We are currently traveling but I will respond in more detail later. So the Consulate/Embassy refused /asked for more evidence?
  14. I am not understanding why State Department needs more evidence again? Did you communicate with USCIS? Or actually State Department/ Passport Office?
  15. I don’t see on which basis they could deny her citizenship. Please update us of the development.
  16. Both kids are ready to be scheduled for an interview since OCT 2nd - according to USCIS tier one agent. Our online account actually states, Interview scheduled and notice mailed out. However, agent(s) claim this was an error and they are simply in line for an interview.
  17. Thank you for letting me know. We are now at the 23 months waiting mark. All inquiries yield nothing other than they are ready to be scheduled for an interview as of Oct 2nd. I really do not want to spent even more money on a writ-of-mandamus… but do feel anxious.
  18. JeanneAdil, it states „in most cases“ but the kids acquired their citizenship under SOFA/ military overseas orders and count as residing in the US.
  19. We have been waiting for almost two years and spent the last two months to wait for the next available interview slot. I am not sure why but when we filed the n-600, we had Washington DC (Fairfax) as our USCIS field center. It was changed to San Diego, our previous address. We are currently residing overseas and I would like to change it to our local address. Would this cause mayhem or further delay? Possibly a change of USCIS field center again?
  20. So, we have not received a letter at all. There was never a document uploaded to their account. However, upon inquiring, USCIS responded by email saying, they would now reschedule the interview. I honestly believe the status should probably be "ready to be scheduled" but for some reason, whoever worked on it, clicked on the wrong button. I am still concerned about the average processing time of said field center being 14.5 month but we are at 22 months waiting time now with no end at sight. I have just printed out the inquiry form for our congressmen to initiate their support. I'll update when and if things start moving along again.
  21. The US General Consulate in Frankfurt does indeed issue I-551s (Greencards) for dependents of active military members. It would definitely not fall into the jurisdiction of Germany as military members stationed in Germany are not accounted for. They are not registered, international students or about to hold jobs on the economy etc (all required for residency). Hence, spouse wants indeed join OP on US base (which one could argue is US territory)?
  22. He is considered residing in the US while under overseas orders. Wouldn’t one be able to make such argument?
  23. If you are a legal permanent resident in the US but follow your spouse on their military orders/ under SOFA, you are still considered residing stateside despite being Oconus. We were going through the process in Frankfurt and they are very responsive to inquiries.
